I also got my favorite chips with curry sauce, which was nice and the sauce came on the side and kept really hot and nice over my trip home. Overall, quite pleased. Fishtastic's combined a traditional fish and chip shop (counter, typical menu range) with modern practices - cardboard boxes instead of waxed paper and sustainability info. On the wall is helpful screen showing where their current fish stock was sourced! I ordered Haddock out of habit as I prefer to have my fish cooked to order, but their Cod was sustainable too. The fish was cooked perfectly, chips were kept hot without going soggy (probably down to the box) and a can of Cream Soda washed it all down a treat. Fishtastic is a little out of my way, but for quality fish and chips like this I'll be coming back! Keep up the great work.

Inside, with its colourful laminated menus, the illusion continues. It is, however, a one-off - which is a shame, because the quality and service puts many similar restaurants to shame. Fish and chips are of course the order of the day, and there's plenty of choice - cod, haddock, plaice, fishcakes and fish pie. I particularly like the grilled salmon, with comes with a salad, so I feel a little more virtuous than my dining companions. They also do a smaller fish and chips meal aimed at pensioners. There are other things on offer too if you're not a fan of fish, such as lasagne or chicken - plus a cooked breakfast if you get there early enough. They offer a range of hot and soft drinks, including several different types of coffee made with Lavazza coffee. One gripe is that the tea comes with pots of UHT milk - fresh milk would be so much better and more authentic! The food is always freshly cooked and delicious every time we go. The serving staff are polite, efficient and friendly, and the food is always served quickly. It's great value too, and there's also a takeaway on the premises which is even cheaper than eating in.

Some guy I've never seen behind the counter before helped us and he was in really good spirits. In fact it was nice to be entertained until our food was ready. I have to say, if I ordered the small fish and chips... I'm not sure what the regular size looks like! The small would've been enough for two people. I can finally say that I have had the fish and I will say that it is the best fish and chip shop in town!
