What a beautiful place! Growing up in Puerto Rico, this reminds me of how homes used to be - with trinkets, pictures, and a balcony to sit and chat while sipping coffee. So let's get to the food! Pirilo is a rustic pizza place. They have many different types of artisan pizza with some styles you would find in other like places, like Hawaiian and BBQ, to the amazing Pirilo pizza which has yellow plantains, ground beef and mozzarella. I personally love plantains, so this was the best Find ever. The dough is fresh and delicious. In addition a, they have a variety of pasta dishes, like lasagna and pasta Alfredo. They have a large variety of appetizers, from mozzarella and garlic bread knots to Yuca and Yautia. And their full bar has some special, amazing drinks such as Margaritas with kenepa, acerola, and parcha and their Sangria has almendra and ajonjolí. The price is not too high, and I think it's a good value for the service (everyone super nice and attentive) and the quality of the food. The large pizza was $22 and you can make it half/half to be able to try different flavors and save a bit over the small pizza. I recommend closing with a cuatro leches cake. This is a great pizza place. We had the basilica which had cherry tomatoes, basil, walnuts, and drizzled with honey. It sounds like different pizza combo, but it worked. The personal pizza is enough for two people to share. The atmosphere is very nice. Would highly recommend this place. read more

Sat there after we finished our food for over 30 minutes only to have to wander the entire restaurant looking for our waitress who was nowhere in sight. Pirilo was the best dining experience we recently had while on vacation in Dorado. Service was great, each team member was sweet and friendly. I had the beef lasagna and it rivaled lasagna from New York's little Italy. Generous portions. We also tried the cheese sticks and garlic knots- both were delicious and again there were generous portions. The sangria was different than any I've had (maybe a Puerto Rican recipe) the waitress prepared me by sharing that it had a little gin and was garnished with crushed almonds. It was very good. I came in Monday with my service dog that has all sorts of identification. They proceed to sit me outside. I kindly tell the "manager" who never introduced himself that the law states I'm allowed to sit inside with my service dog according to the ADA (American disabilities act) I inform him it's a federal law. I even showed him the law on my phone. His response was "what if someone is allergic?" I showed him where it says that allergies or fear of dogs is not a reason to deny entry of a service dog into an establishment. He would say that he understood but the rule is that and he proceeds to show us a sign that said service dogs were welcom. He just didn't want to listen. i felt discriminated against since I have a condition that requires a service dog. My disability isn't visible. I was treated as a second hand citizen and forced to sit outside. He even said it's like that in all Pirilo restaurants and I told him I go to the one in condado often and they always ask me if I want inside or outside as soon as I inform my 11lbs daschund is a service dog. The waiters We're great and so was the food but what happened was discrimination and blatant disregard for the law. Outside the bugs started biting us but we knew it wasn't the waiter's fault. I LOVE Pirilo. Food is outstanding every time. Reasonably priced, especially for the area, service is excellent, friendly, kind and quick. They are also one of the few options open Monday's.. everyone there seems to work hard. I'm not thrilled with the valet service (takes a long time, never has change, feels dishonest)... but the restaurant makes it worth it, we just bring exact cash for valet and tip. read more

This is a five-star restaurant in any category! The restaurant is like a hacienda-style house with decor dating 1920-40's caribbean style architecture/decor, with big dining rooms and seating arrangements for any group size. If you want to feel more intimate you may seat at the amazing bar area. Service staff is the best I've seen lately in Puerto Rico. They have a variety of pizzas for any preference, or you can build your own. We had the margheritta, basilica, mushrooms and greek, all delicious with fresh, top quality ingredients, with thin crusts or regular crusts, both were very good. For appetizers we had sangrias, which are topped with grated almonds, ginger and sesame seed, giving a nice kick to them; a pirilo sampler and a meat sampler, both are awesome and very tasty. We had a variety of local beers which made the experience even better. The restaurant also has outdoor seating along its perimeter terrace, which can accommodate larger groups. If you want rustic pizza, this place is the one. They have many options of pizzas that sound delicious. They have tapas-style appetizers that are tempting to the palate, but could be used for kid sized meals. It's also great that you can turn any pizza into a calzone. They have two pizza sizes: small and big. The small one could feed two people who are not super hungry, or stuff one person who is famished. I had a 4 onion pizza. I love onions, and they were crunchy and sweet. I wanted to stop after two slices, but I went for a third. My diet regretted this decision, but my stomach was happy. My husband had a pepperoni calzone that was HUGE. He ate half, because it was so filling, and ate the rest for breakfast. One of my girl friends had a salmon and ricotta pizza that looked very tempting. She was raving about it. My other girl friend had one pizza called La Pampa, which had meat in it. It looked tempting and delicious. She debated whether to eat it all, or take some home and risk having to share it. It's very kid-friendly, which is great for those of use who are parents. The ambiance is adorable, with mismatched tables and chairs. The decor is quaint, reminiscent of the old-style homes of Puerto Rico. You have an option of sitting inside or outside on the porch. The porch looked adorable, and they have fans, but we had kids with us, so we figured that it would be more comfortable inside. The desserts looked yummy. They had a cuatro Leches (four milks, which is even more decadent than the three milks cake)!! The piña colada and the sangria looked so refreshing! The piña colada didn't have whipped cream, like other do, which makes it lighter. It had shredded coconut which added texture. My friend had a home-made sangría. Yum! The service was very nice. We did not have to wait too long. They were very polite and friendly. We will definitely come back here, and I highly recommend it. They have other locations, but this one is far away from the big crowds of San Juan, which happen to have longer waiting times. There's also valet parking ($5). read more

Omg Came here because of the reviews online. Are you kidding me. Some reviews stated this was a 5 star restaurant. This is actually a pizza place. Food is literally awful. We had some greasy fries with disappointing skirt steak. Pizza was terrible. And the place is weird. You enter and there is no host. You wait at the entrance for someone to attend you. May I add forever the wait time. Once seated you don't know who is your waiter because you order to one then another waiter brings it then they both disappear and you ask someone else who also disappears. Ok, I'm kind of a pizza snob. I have tried pizza in many countries and was a little apprehensive at reading other reviews (silly me Yelp has yet to steer us wrong). This place is great, they have a new spin on pizza, some are the traditional styles we have all had, and some new. We had salami pie and a pesto, prosciutto, and tomato pie, both cooked to perfection. The staff is incredible, and very helpful. The garlic bread appetizer and empanadas are a great launch pad. The last thing, which usually is not my focus, the ambiance. This place is decorated so simply and elegantly, make sure you check out the bathrooms, very cute design. read more
