En nuestra primera visita quedamos encantados con la comida y el servicio; la cocina es excelente y eso merece reconocimiento. Lamentablemente, esta segunda experiencia fue distinta. Al poco tiempo de sentarnos, nuestra hija de dos años comenzó a llorar de forma intermitente por unos minutos. Mientras mi esposa intentaba calmarla, el gerente se acercó y comentó que, aunque entendía que era una niña, el ruido era excesivo y molestaba a otros clientes, sugiriendo que sacara a la niña del salón. The absolute most delicious mushroom risotto l've ever had, in a quaint and cozy environment. Our server was personable and extremely helpful as well, especially with selecting wine from their extensive menu. Certainly a safe experience for those with food allergies as well. I also had to try my husband's Roasted Salmon Tortellini & my daughter's Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo and they were delicious ! The homemade bread with dipping oil & balsamic vinaigrette was very good as well, we had 2 servings . We didn't try dessert but Lourdes said the Tres Leches was very good, maybe next time! This Italian restaurant is excellent as any very good Italian NYC restaurant. The decor is brightly painted wainscot walls and ceilings. French window Alford a view of the porch (dining there as well) and tropical garden. Great selection of Italian dishes. We had pizza made in a wood fired pizza oven, as good as my recent trip to Italy. Thin crust and delicious. Special two Peroni beer for $6. We also ordered a cheese calzone which we shared amongst the 4 of us. Good Mondavi Cab Sov. Many families suggest going after 7 pm. I wish we had found this gastro delight earlier in our trip. We're new residents of Dorado, and when we asked around for the best dinner restaurant, the one name that came up again and again was Grappa. Now we know why. Our dining experience there was exquisite, from the hand-crafted cocktails to the smart service to the appetizers and entrees. We were told it's a good idea to order from the daily specials, and so we did for the pineapple salad (fresh and tangy) and the fish of the day, mahi mahi with garlic white wine, capers and perfectly steamed vegetables. We started with a Caprese salad brimming with oodles of fresh mozzarella and fragrant pesto. And I had the braised duck over pasta from the main menu, with a portion so large I had to take home a container. It's an intimate, enclosed space, so the volume of the boisterous conversation was quite high, but it didn't bother us. Loved the appealing wall art, too. We'll be back soon! read more

What a meal and experience! The staff is very attentive and very proud (rightly so) of the food, the presentation and the extensive wine list. We had almost all of the specials for the ending amongst our group of 6. All were excellent - but the chicken cacciatore, served over house made tagliatelle, was deemed the best of them all. But the Mahi Mahi (over coconut risotto - subtle flavoring) was a close second. Deserts were also good, but I'd skip the lavender pane cotto. Tried this place for the first time in 2010 and loved it so much we visited it again on our next trip to PR in 2023. This is probably the best food on the island- LOVED the funghi risotto. THIS PLACE SUCKEDDD i got food poisoning from their stupid pesto pasta with shrimp. As I was eating it I didn't even enjoy it but I wanted to eat something and then 2 hours later back in my hotel room I had aggressive stomach pain and you guessed it projectile vomitted into the toilet. Keep in mind I don't throw up normally I haven't thrown up since I was 7. I didn't want to blame the food immediately I tried to give grappa the benefit of the doubt but then 2 hours later BAM I threw up again and it was the noodles. My sister had to hold my hair back and it's all cause of grappa. And before you think it could've been something else I ate that day my sister was also throwing up and we shared the noodles so don't question me! I then drank some water as I was dehydrated and just threw up my insides. 1 hour later I threw up FLUIDS. And this happened again another hour later. I spent the next day bed ridden only conscious for maybe 4 hours and couldn't move or eat AND IT WAS SUNNY so I missed out on a wonderful beach day. I also felt bloated so despite throwing up everything and not eating the next day I still wasn't giving Bella Hadid. Let this be a lesson to you TO NEVER GO HERE. read more

Went to a couple of restaurants in Dorado and was hesitant to write a review up until I visited this restaurant. All I can say is WOW, everything was absolutely top notch. Couldn't believe we were not in NYC! The service and food were both incredible. This restaurant is on the higher end, I wished I had known that prior to coming, so I could dress a bit more appropriate. We got the ceviche, the creme brûlée fois gras, a salad with fresh fruit and I ordered the Guancia special. The Guancia is special pork from Japan (tender pork cheeks) served over homemade fettuccine. The meat melted in your mouth - thats how tender it was. The fish in the ceviche was a fresh snapper that was caught the previous afternoon, with two types of citrus juices. The fois gras was so good I could have had it for desert. We enjoyed each and every one of the dishes tremendously. We finished it off with delicious tiramisu and chocolate layered cake. Highly recommend trying this place! read more

The service was very friendly and told us about any specials they had. I had the stuffed pork tenderloin and it was quite good. I believe I cleaned up my plate. You can tell both vacationers and locals like to hit up the place, so probably weekends and nights you may need a reservation. Was in Dorado for a week on biz trip and so glad I found this little gem, it sure beats hotel food! It's a quaint little place with only 28 seats, but it's air conditioned so it's comfortable. The hostess Luis is wonderful with great personality. I ate here almost every other night the week and half when I was here. The menu changes base on what they have in stock (mostly fresh sea food and home made pasta) If you gonna go during meal time please call ahead to make reservation and they can get crowded. Excellent wine and deserts. Try their chocolate cake tiramisu it's one of best I ever had, but panna cotta is also devine. Also their coffee is amazing.. Made reservations two weeks in advance for La Grappa, and it was totally worth it. Everything was perfect. The service was excellent, a great looking staff was attentive and friendly. The food was fresh and came out about twenty minutes after we ordered. The atmosphere was clean with beautifully decorated walls, calm music and dim but flickering lights. A celebrity came in, but everyone acted professionally. I am sure some people were just in shocked as I was, but that person deserves a vacation as much as we do. I was impressed with the nonchalance. We weren't rushed and we even met the owner who came by the table to say hello. Although the front of the restaurant did not look impressive, the best was waiting in the back where it counts - the kitchen. Each night there are daily specials on the large blackboard in the eating area which the servers embellish with savory detail. My wife and I split the whitefish croquettes in béchamel that were lightly fried but no hint of grease. For main courses, she had the halibut with a mango cerviche on top perfectly steam vegetables. I chose the lamb chops in a sauce with a hint of cinnamon over potatoes and celery root mash infused with coffee. Not one single flavor overwhelm the others in either dish but created a broad spectrum of tastes. With both our plates cleaned and commenting this is the best food we have had in the 15 years visiting Puerto Rico, we had to try one desert. We choose the dark chocolate cake. Typically these type of desserts have a tendency to be overly sweet but again, the chefs hit the mark with that delicate balance of semisweet dark chocolate with the lightness of an airy cake. Lovely little place in Dorado in the middle of the old town. Not a lot of decoration but nonetheless has an intimate feel. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. We started off with some Scapplops e Filetto on mashed potatoes, although my wife tells me they were not potatoes but a local dish called yauntia. The scallops were to die for. The wife had old fashioned pasta with meatballs, housemade pasta al dente with 4 big, spicy & herby meatballs. I decided to talk a walk on the wildside and had grouper filet on a bed of Risotto prepared with champagne and strawberries. What a nice combination. I loved it. For dessert we shared ravioli's filled with chocolate and hazelnut creme on top of 2 scoops of vanilla icecream. Loved the place, the food and the staff. A real gem. Finally, some snub employee answer by 5pm and say that they are full and will not accommodate us. We tried to explain that our party would be just us and our 2 year old baby that sounds crazy there were no space for 630pm. Promised to call us in 5 minutes and we still waiting... Small local restaurant in Dorado Puerto Rico. The food here is excellent. I had the pork bolognaise which was very rich and flavorful. My husband had the meatballs with spaghetti pomodoro. The meatballs were like my grandmothers, and the sauce was perfect. For an appetizer the special was eggplant baba ganouch style. The spices were perfect. Since I am Italian I wondered how Italian food would be in a small town in Puerto Rico but we were so happy we tried it. Very nice wine list since it is also a wine bar. Give Grappa a try! Our last evening in Puerto Rico we made an excellent decision going to Grappa! This Italian food was out of this world good! Menu was in English and Spanish. We each had something different. Dad was so excited when he saw shrimp fra diavolo (arrabiata) on the menu. It was spicy! But perfect for him. And the shrimp were huge. The pesto verdura pasta was so fresh. Pasta carbonara was creamy. I had the special cacio y pepe and it. Was. Amazing! We all argued over whose dish was better. We also had a picky eater with us, and they made a special tagliatelle alfredo dish for her, which was also very good. The atmosphere was great for dinner. Not bad. But not exceptionally impressive. I always expect more when meals become, on average, $20/24 a plate. Swayed by the good reviews, my family stopped in for some Italian food Puerto Ricna style, thinking this would be a great break from mofongo and porkchops. All in all, attentive & friendly staff, but the food left me desiring. We tried their frog legs, but I wasn't crazy with their asian flare, and when I got my chicken carbonaro, I was yearning for my popular homestop that serves this dish for 1/3 of the price and twice the flavor. Again, this plate was OK, but that's all. The egglant marinana and risotto with beef and cabernet followed suit. The only dish worth it's price in both appearance and taste in my opinion was the fra diaviolo my husband ordered. The prawns were huge and they tasted amazing. They also got the degree of spiciness in the sauce just right. If you are tired of Puertoricana fare and want to switch it up, not a bad choice. Just know that you will average $30-35 per person with drink, meal, and app. read more
