As far as crazy golf goes this is probably the best in the area. I regularly take my son here (aged 5) on a nice day and he absolutely loves it! The pirate theme works well with various features kicking in as you move round. Water gets sprayed about and pirates talk to you which kids love. There are two courses to play which are both different and each of them have their own signature holes. The last hole of each courses give you the opportunity to win a free round by skilfully hitting the ball into a centre hole. All in all a good way to spend an hour in the sunshine. I would recommend this across the board whether taking to kids, for a date or even with a group of friends there is sure to be some craic. read more

If you're a bit like myself and hate exercise / anything sweat inducing, fear not! Pirates Adventure Golf is merely mini golf with a twist. And we all know that simply involves standing in one spot and hitting a ball. Phew... Situated beside Dundonald International Ice Bowl, Pirates Adventure Golf contains two 18 hole courses - Captain's Challenge and Blackbeard's Adventure. Each course captures every element of its pirate theme, with fountains, waterfalls, ghostly ships and tikki poles providing a fun setting to play in. Having eaten at the Eastpoint complex, myself and five friends decided to tackle the Captain's Challenge, splitting ourselves into two groups (maximum of five per group you see) and excitedly grabbing our putters and coloured balls. Everything was going swimmingly until the fourth hole, when the sound of drums grabbed my attention and I dived out of the way of a tikki pole which I knew was going to douse me in water. Only, being me, I dived into the water instead of away from it and ended up getting pretty wet. Source of amusement for the rest of the night...check! Other than the risk of getting wet, I thoroughly enjoyed the evening, as did my companions. Forgot to mention I lost, but it's all about the taking part, right? Seriously though, give it a go. I have always thought that crazy golf was the height of naffness but after a recent visit to Pirates Golf, I am a total convert. It was the most fun I have had in ages. Luckily I had taken the children to take the bad look off me as they say in Belfast as I could pretend my excitement was for their benefit. I haven't crazy golfed anywhere else but I strongly suspect that this venue is the deluxe version. The whole 18 hole complex is designed around a pirates island theme and is very well done with absolutely no chance of even young children getting bored. You make your way through a an area landscaped with trees and various piratey scenes. The star attraction is the massive wooden boat at the centre of the course. Sadly you can't actually get onto the boat so its probably best to tell the children that before you get there. It's all about managing expectations. All the while you'll hear yo ho ho type songs and canon noises and the ship blows out huge plumes of water which kids will love. This is such a great way to pass a morning or afternoon - it's all outdoor so unless you enjoy soggy golf, wait for a dry day. My one and only criticism is that they put groups through the course at short intervals. I had a 3 year old with me who was slow to take his shots and I felt under pressure from the group behind to move on. Apart from that we all really enjoyed it and will certainly go back. Pirates Golf is reasonably priced at £4 for kids (under 4s only £3) and £6 for age 11 and over which Ithink is good value. read more

This place is some craic. I love the pirate theme, in fact I flat out love pirate stuff! When work suggested we go there for our staff do I was well up for it. So up for it I wore an eye patch. I also had a toy parrot which I had intended to attach to my shoulder but the others weren't really running with the theme, so the parrot remained in my bag. We got into two groups, got our clubs, our score card and off we went. Thank goodness it's not a strenuous activity, in fact it is simply stand still and swing!! Mini golf is awesome! The most strenuous part of the activity is avoiding the water shooting out from mysterious places! Anyway, I'm highly competative and wanted to win but I was pipped to the post by my colleague - I still hold a grudge. and so... a great evening out was had by all. Pirate Golf is suitable for children and adults and is open from 10am to 10pm seven days a week. You can choose to play 18 or 36 holes (18 is enough I think!) and it costs £6 for over 11's., 10 years and under £4 and under 4 is just £2. Arrrrrrr my maties!!! If you haven't been to pirates adventure golf since it opened 10 years ago what have you been doing with your life? You get the choice of 2 courses to play or for the real keen golfers you can play both for a discounted price of £10. This is great fun for all ages and each hole had a unique feel and challenge to it. I will warn you to be careful or you could end up with a face full of water. Great for groups of 4 but anymore and you start to hold everyone up which would be my only complaint about pirate golf. Great for families, friends, dates or a day out with the young buccaneers! Pirates Golf is the only mini golf course in the area, well it's definitely the only one with a theme. This place can be enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels. I went and I was absolutely hopeless, to make matters worse I was trying to impress a girl. Luckily she didn't hold my poor mini golfing skills against me. The golf course itself is difficult with plenty of pirate themed obstacles, splashes of water and pirate voices to put you off your game. The course is really well maintained and the staff obviously put a lot of effort in to keeping it on top of it's game. We went on a colder evening and had to cut our second round short as we we thought we were going to get hypothermia. Luckily there's a leisure complex across the road with a wide variety of different (warm) restaurants. You could really make a day of it if you visit Pirate Golf then pop over to the adjacent complex for a bite to eat and perhaps a movie. Beware in the school holidays and summer evenings Pirate Golf will be packed so you might have to wait in line while others put! read more

I've only been to this place once, and I wasn't totally convinced that it was going to be my thing. I was wrong. Crazy Golf is one of the weirder inventions of modern times, but it's so much fun! There are two courses you can play, so there's enough to keep anyone entertained for hours. Plus, it's really difficult, so it'll bring out your competitive streak (if you have one of course!) The only downside is that it's outdoors, so it's not an all-weather activity, which is a bit frustrating given the environment we live in! read more

Before this place opened, my only really over the top experience of crazy golf was in Florida, where everything is over the top. Pirate's adventure Crazy Golf looks like it has came directly from this showy part of the world. It has pirate ships, flags, lagoons, cannon blasts and everything you would expect a crazy golf place named after pirates to have. At the end of the course and possibly most importantly they have the exciting final hole, which assuming you get in one go, entitles you to a free round of golf. How fun is that! I have actually had full conversations with a lot of people about the correct trajectory and power required in your shot to succeed at this hole. As of yet I am still unsuccessful. read more

Pirates Adventure Golf situated in the Dundonald Ice Bowl Complex. Golf is another sport that I am deeply terrible at, so I thought the crazy golf might be a little bit better. But sadly, I was just as crap at that! It was a lot of fun though, the course is covers with lots of sensors that cause explosions and water cannons to go off whilst your trying to make your putt. This interactive aspect makes me really fun. It's a great place for a date or just a group of friends. There was a group of trainee priests behind us, giving it their big G's approval of pirate based golfing fun. It's only £6 for a full game which take about an hour and a half so it's value for money. read more

We took are daughter here for here birthday and where told to wait half an hour. To be rushed around the course as they let to many people in. Kids didn't even get to take half their shots as the felt pressure to move on as so many people where waiting their turn. What was meant to be enjoyable time ended in stress. Phoned to complane and Manger told me he turn us away in future if the course is too busy. It costed my family 48 pounds to play. Not happy read more

What a great day out for all the family! I have two children. One ages 13 the other 6 and it can be hard trying to entertain both and finding something they both enjoy. The bigger bonus that us parents had just as much fun! We only did the 18 holes but next time will definitely next time would do the 36. Pricey enough but we will without a doubt be back!
