If you're a smoker and after something different in your roll up or fancy trying a pipe then you will find something to suit in here and its more affordable than city centre stockists of such things. What i love even more is the eccentric closing time of a quarter past the hour of five, brilliant. After nipping in I was fascinated by the range of stock and was itching to do a social history project but Stirchley has had many shop documenters before in the past. ( not through smoke let me stress, purely through all the pots of fresh tobaccos). Apparently the business is generations old. Although the owner seems on the quieter side, he certainly has vast knowledge on all the products he has. Why we only use these tobacconists abroard I do not know. We should support these small places that specialise in certain goods more. Would definitely recommend.

Fair enough...except there was a gang of 3 people in there already..who were taking ages over deciding what a cigar was. I told the woman assistant that I already knew what I wanted...could she possibly nip into the humidor and get them for me? WAIT YOUR TURN!! After 5 minutes waiting I gave up. However, if you looked at the shop front, you could be forgiven for thinking it was more of a souvenir shop if anything. The windows that can be seen from the outside are packed with various little models and ornaments, including an owl and a deer, somewhat bizarrely. Inside, they also sell various sweets and ice creams that are all perfectly pleasant without setting your pulse racing too much. Basically, it's a bit like a newsagent but replace the large assortment of magazines with a large assortment of souvenirs and models that you don't really want or need but somehow end up buying anyway.

When I came into Mirage News I thought it was just a bog standard newsagents. Crisps, sweets,…read morecigarettes, bottles of fizzy pop and few newspapers. That kind of thing. That's certainly what it looks like from the outside. And it does sell all of those things. But what it also does is tobacco. So what I'm talking about is cigars. In fact a couple of cabinets full of the things, with a wide range of types. They also sell tobacco, in flavours such as apple, banana and toffee, all weighed out to the amount you would like. They also sell paraphernalia like pipes and lighters. The guy serving is nice enough too. What Mirage News is really great for is its tobacco though.
