I live in a newly constructed condo, but some of the contractors workmanship was shoddy. After only…read more6 months, the garbage disposal began leaking due to being installed improperly. My sister called Good Plumbing after seeing some favorable recommendations from neighbors on the Nextdoor website. She was told it would be $300 to remove the garbage disposal, reseal it and remount it. Not knowing any better she decided to go ahead with the job and Pete arrived a short time later that very same evening. He said he'd be in the area and could stop by on his way from another job. Pete completed the job effectively, but his customer service left something to be desired. When he was done I asked him if there would be an additional charge in the event he had to come out again. He seemingly took this as a personal attack on his job performance and stated there would be no reason for him to come out again. I attempted again to get my original question answered, but he insisted it wouldn't be necessary. And when it came time to pay for the bill (via CC) he insisted on writing down my sister's full name, address, card number, zip code AND 3 digit security code on the back of the card. We both took issue with this for obvious reasons... it's simply not wise or safe to have that kind of information laying around on paper. Pete said it was GP policy to write down all that information and preceded to show us his clipboard containing a stack of customer receipts. All the receipts contained names, CC numbers, zip codes and security codes. I assume he was attempting to reassure us, but it did the exact opposite. I theorized if his truck was stolen then the thieves would have a field day charging up customer's credit cards. Pete balked at this suggestion stating that he'd never had a customer's information stolen in 35 years. And that previous customer's had charged upwards of 40k for certain jobs. As I said, Pete wasn't winning any customer service awards... Being dismissive of customer concerns isn't exactly the way to build rapport or loyalty. Also, it's 2021...there's no need for any service provider to be taking down customer's information. Not when there are a plethora of payment apps available that safely process payments. My sister plans to cancel her credit card and request a new one once the charge for Good Plumbing is processed. Adding insult to injury, a couple of male friends told me later that we had been severely overcharged for the service provided. One friend said we'd been "raped." Pete replaced the mounting bracket for the disposal which retails for about $20 because he said he didn't like the way our existing one looked. Then he sealed it with plumbers putty that costs about $5 at Home Depot. It maybe took him 15 minutes to do the job. I don't know what the average cost is to fix a leaking garbage disposal, but I do know the Badger model I have retails for $110. So basically, I could've had two new ones for the price we paid. That didn't feel great, but you live and learn. Next time I'll use Task Rabbit and save a few bucks. On a positive note, I appreciated Pete's prompt response... it wasn't an emergency, but the same day service was a plus. We called a few other places and was told it'd be anywhere from a few days to a week for someone to come out. Pete also wore a mask (properly) following Covid protocols. And so far his work has been solid. We haven't had any problems.

They were so nice, identified the issue, and within an hour, they fixed the problem. I definitely recommend anyone who needs sewer rodding to just pay the extra fee for them to put a camera down there. We had a peace of mind learning we didn't have any tree roots down there, and that our pipes down there are in great shape. Their pricing is extremely fair and can't recommend them enough! Bonus points for being veteran owned as well!

I saw they were local, so I gave them a call. I explained what the situation was to Andy and sent over pictures. Right away he told me what to have done and what it would cost up front. He was able to come out two days later to complete the job within an hour. That includes running to Home Depot to get a different part. He brought the parts originally based on the photos I provided, but once the wall was opened up, there was a different sized pipe. He showed up on time and maintained a professional service and cleaned up after the job was complete. As we have a child in the household, I ask him to wear a mask. Priced online new as over 1200 bucks from nextag and multiple vendors. AHS covered the heater replacement. Those with home warranty policies know they're called casino policies sometimes - but I was shocked that the full amount was covered. Pleasant suprise after reading these reviews and expecting the worst, but my policy covered what it said it would cover What is not covered in any such baseline policy though is the piping to and fro. My house is over 100 years old, so there was significant work to be done. I may upgrade to the next level policy this year that does cover the connections. Big John from Choice came out to my house in the north suburbs from Schaumburg. The night before the appointment the office called and ask if we'd be home between 10 and 2. John was at my house at 9:50. Good start. He assessed the issue, wrote up a quote on the not to exceed figure for replacing the piping with proper components that don't rust. He explained the current piping was functional but likely contributed to my heat breaking do to a mismatch in material for the dialectrics. Several valves, tee joins and general copper piping needed to be replaced. Heater was ordered for pick up and installation was to be next day. Office called that night - asked for a window between 10 and 2. Big John and teammate Mike came in to get the job done. They lifted out the beheameth, brought in the new one, and several hours later we had hot water. Total work was 495 on the quote for all the pipework. It looks great, definately worth it. We ended up not having to have a new flu put on, so after my invoice was recieved by the office they cut a check to me for the difference and I had it this afternoon when I got back from work. So all in - GREAT WORK. From the front office to the assessment to the installation, these guys rocked it. I was expecting non-rocking just given the economy and I wasn't sure how the home warranty would work - but it rocked. I understand everyone has their own experiences, and that these policies often cause frustration when people think they cover entire jobs when they do not, but I would consider that framework when assessing the commentary from the postings below. Good work fellas! I'll hope not to have to see you soon but my boiler is over 30 years old so we'll probably touch base this winter.

However, my contractors use Shark Plumbing for the re-hookup of all my appliances (think new shower installed, washer, dryer, 2 dishwashers, and kitchen sink, plus the gas cook top). These guys are amazing. Gets the job done, takes the time out to answer additional questions that you may have about other projects and doesn't look uninterested or wanting to go. They came back for a very small drip that was happening in my kitchen sink (the old drain wasn't attaching properly) and not only fixed that but stayed and looked at aome other things that were giving us some concern. No wonder these guys have 5 stars when I pulled them up on YELP. They will definitely be my go to plumbing and sewer guys from here on out. Very few companies have customer service as their top priority and after dealing with these guys on multiple occasions, I think these guys have it right.
