Wonderful place for nice children's clothes and toys. Also the owner is soooo kind, lovely and a great person (woman owned)

I never gave children's stores much attention before the birth of my (ridiculously handsome) baby son, but after he was born, I became intimately acquainted with how expensive kids can be. Fortunately, places like Pinwheels help take the edge off of clothing and entertaining the little guy! Clothing, shoes, accessories, toys, books, games, strollers, swings: it's all here! And it's all a bargain! Lightly used? Just about everything seems about as close to brand new as possible; *I'd* certainly never know the difference. There's even a "diaper depot" (as I like to call it anyway): a drop box where you can donate extra diapers you no longer need, so that others less fortunate can take them for free; a heartwarming touch that immediately endeared me to this place. The owner is a vibrant, wonderful woman who immediately engaged us upon entering, and make the whole experience a true pleasure. And she has an eye for style, quality, and most important in a resale shop: cleanliness! We bought a pair of shoes and a few toys this time around, but I foresee many return visits to Pinwheels, and not just to re-sell the clothes my son outgrows. I'd rather shop here for his needs than any big box store in the Portland area. read more

What better thing to do than support small local businesses? That, and I felt like I did not pack enough clothes for my kiddos this trip (excuse this tired mama), so I was on the hunt for some cute clothing. I always have one caveat for consignment stores: must have friendly and helpful staff - after all, you Are asking people to buy (mostly) secondhand/used items. I popped in here 15 min before closing on a weekday and half expected the employees to grumble at me while they were trying to close the store. I found quite a number of items that I thought were "steals" for my kiddos. I would've loved more clothing options for my little ones, esp baby boys, but hey, we can't have it all. I would def recommend coming here. read more

I used to go into Piccolina often to find things for my princess. Some of my favorite used items came from here. I liked it. I was in there recently, and I still do, even though my daughter is at the higher end of their kid sizes now. It helped that there is awesome coffee and Noho's nearby, so you can make an afternoon of it. Sweet! read more

Years ago, I wrote a somewhat negative review because I visited the store a few times and a buyer was not present (even though I went during the proper scheduled times). But I found out that the owner was very sick during that period. I have since shopped at the store, and a buyer is always present, and very kind. You can find some gorgeous, unique clothing here. So glad I stumbled upon this little neighborhood shop! I've found many cute things here. It's a consignment shop, so it is hit or miss if you'll find something each time, but they carry nice brands and a variety of items! As a seller, I also think you can get more out of your items here than other consignment shops, especially if you choose store credit (and why wouldn't you??) They could definitely use some more boys items, but it's a cute little shop that i've recommended to many friends! read more

This review is based on selling from my personal experience... :) By far the best place to sell children clothing, toys, and maternity in the Portland area. This is also the only kids consignment shop that pays on the spot (which is nice especially when you are trying to get rid of and get paid quickly). The only items that are held for consignments are the bigger items including all maternity. Consignment items are held for 2 months. I like the fact that this store is very brand focused and only takes clothing that are high end popular brands such as Gap, Hannah Anderson, Mini Boden, etc. It gives the consignment shop a more high end boutique feel which is nice. ***NOTE: Carter's Brand and other cheaper brands are not accepted!*** The store owner Sara is such a joy to work with :) She is highly reliable, honest, professional and will take the time to respond promptly and efficiently. She seems like she understands/acknowledge the brands, products, and the current fashion/trends. Kudos for that! My family visited here recently to pick up some items for our baby we are expecting. There was a good selection of items and the prices were very fair. The owners were super friendly and talked to us for a while. They were also sweet to our older daughter and engaged her in conversation while we looked around. We ended up purchasing a baby carrier and some clothes. We will for sure be back before baby arrives! read more

This is a fabulous little second hand and new baby / maternity store - a nice foil for Mother Natures across the street. Always something fun and reasonably priced there - my only complaint is that I would love it to open earlier in the morning (ie before 11am!) Piccolina is a wonderful baby/children's resale shop off Clinton and 26th. I ventured in one day with a fellow mommy and was amazed! You mean -- I can buy used stuff for less money from other mommies? WOW!! Ok ... I admit I was new to the consignment/resale thing ... but still! Anywho - the great thing about this place is their selection. While always changing, they do a great job of keeping certain things in stock. They carry everything from maternity clothes and bras - to baby carriers - to nursery and safety equipment - newborn clothes to toddlers - toys, shoes and even used cloth diaper covers. I mean ... YAY! Also - the woman (I think she's the owner) is one of the uber-happy sweet people you just want to be friends with. read more

I love this store! I found them through Instagram and although I live across the country, they make shopping with them feel as if I'm shopping right down the street. Pinwheels always has the best items that are in great condition and at great prices. I have gotten so many name brand and hard to find gently used items here and the prices are unbelievably good! And they're always willing to search for things you might be looking for. They're always so friendly and helpful, great customer service and speedy shipping. Definitely recommend! read more

Love this place! This place sells high quality used items at a reasonable rate. Many of the complaints are that the things here are "expensive" or "overpriced" but they fail to mention that the things sold are of a higher quality than your local box store where the quality is often sweatshop cheap. So, no, you cannot get the "same things brand new for the same price". Otherwise this store would cease to exist. Quit frontin'. Haters gonna hate. read more

I am never, ever able to leave Piccolina without something new and sweet for my daughter in hand. The service is consistently friendly and helpful, and I often bring visitors here to shop for their little ones. Things to note: Fab shoe selection, most only lightly worn I think the pricing here is spot on, personally Well edited clothes for the 0-2yr set They always have a decent selection of strollers parked out front - we got our jogger here for a steal Adorable locally made new items are also available - we love the unique baby legwarmers in patterns we haven't seen elsewhere. Not the greatest baby carrier selection in town, though there is usually a moby or two to be found, and the usual collection of passed-over Baby Bjorns. We love Piccolina! read more

What a cute little store! I have a lot of friends who are moms or are becoming moms. I had a fun time browsing their awesome selection. I will probably frequent this store when I'm a mom, myself. It is right next to the park and the prices seemed fair. I don't know anything about putting your own stuff their on consignment though. read more

So, since I live on the East Coast, I haven't had the chance to set foot in Pinwheels, but I have followed Sara's store on Instagram for the past few months and am SO thrilled that I have. She deals in amazing, upscale brands and her prices are unbeatable. I follow a couple other consignment stores around the country and trust me -- Sara's prices blow the competition out of the water. I'm from out of town for work and had been trying all week to get here. The store is awesome. The quality of clothing (only had time for maternity shopping this trip) was top notch. Clean, very gently used, and solid selection. I walked out with a terrific pair of high end jeans (will be wearing after my pregnancy they are that good), a pair of slacks for work, and two tops to start my new/tweaked wardrobe for pregnancy. I love this store! For those complaining about the prices being the same as new....yes that's technically correct....if you're normally buying baby clothes at Target, Carters, or any other big box retailer. Pinwheels does not sell any of those for obvious reasons (you can't mark them down much more), so they sell the more expensive brands like Baby Gap, JCrew, Hanna Anderson, Mini Boden, etc. Because those normally retail for at least $35+ they resale is around $6-10. Which is a steal for those brands! The owner carefully curates everything she sells. Check out their Instagram account for new items...you can purchase or put them on hold that way. I stop in here whenever I walk by because I can't myself. I find the resell value reasonable for a lot of the items. I dont usually leave buying something but I always check just in case. There's usually new stuff each time I go in. Staff is really friendly and helpful. Everything is so nicely organized and easy to rummage through. read more

It is always a pleasure to shop or sell at Piccolina. The store is clean, not overstuffed, and has a constant flow of new clothes on the hangers (there is nothing more annoying when shopping than having to sort through the same crap you already passed up a month ago because a store will take anything.) If you're looking for cheapy cheap, it may not be the place for you but if you are looking for high end kids clothing at good prices (yes, i am willing to spend a few extra dollars on nicer stuff) check out Piccolina. read more

A nice selection for the wee ones, not so hot as they get older. I like that they have toy "collections" sold in bags- things that are related or part of a set. I think they're a bit pricey though- an $8.95 price point is too high for most resale. Also, they don't appear to be interested in keeping sets together. I like shirts/tunics that pair with leggings or matching bottoms. I never see these here! read more

Stopped by here to check out their stock and they have a little bit of everything! Great selection on not just clothing, but all those other accessories you need for baby and kids like slings, cloth diapers and boppy covers. They even have some locally made burp cloths and flanel wipes. read more

I love this store! As we stock up for our first baby, it's awesome to be able to find reasonably-priced, clean baby clothes that are in excellent condition. To the reviewer who suggested that prices were high -- sure, I could probably wait until the end of the season, head to Old Navy, and find one cute shirt for $5, but at Piccolina I can go through a fabulous selection and find super buys any day of the week! Plus, they carry other, higher-end brands at substantial discounts that would be tough to score even at a clearance sale. I also love their selection of toys. I picked up a set of wooden blocks for $12 and then saw the same set at another baby store for $59 the same day. Sweet! They also carry a selection of new, funky baby and kids' clothes from PDX-area crafters. While I'll keep browsing the used stuff for myself, it's always fun to choose a locally-made gift for someone else! read more

I went here on a whim one Friday afternoon, and I already can't wait to go back! Sara (the owner) was SO AMAZING! Super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I picked out this random (or so I thought) baby sling, and asked her how to use it, and she proceeded to tell me everything anyone could ever hope to know about it! Piccolina is my favorite childrens consignment shop in Portland. They always have a great selection of cloth diapering supplies, and at a good price. The store is a bit crowded, but I would rather have more stuff to look through than less! I have used them to consign as well and they were by far the easiest place I have used to consign. Some larger items they gave me cash for up front for. They took a few bags of clothes without an appointment and went through them in the next few days. They called me to confirm I would pick up what they didn't take or to see if they should donate it. The owner and her husband have always been pleasant and helpful when I talk to them. read more

When I went to piccolina I saw good prices for baby gear however their used baby clothes are almost the same prices as ones you would buy in stores. They have a good selection of baby carriers and cloth diapers and overall it was a cute little store but I didn't walk out of there with anything I had to have. In the long run the customer service was not the best and I was never asked if I needed help finding something. read more

Everyone that works there is so incredibly friendly and helpful. I've been able to let them know what I'm looking for and they reach out when they have a match! So awesome. This is a cute store but it is overpriced for a consignment shop. Some of the prices on things from Old Navy, Gap Kids and Gymboree is almost exactly what you would pay for bran new if one of those stores was having a good sale. They have cute stuff but their prices in my opinion are too high for used clothess. I think there are other consignment shops that are better deals in Portland-Sweet Pea being top on my list, Stella Bella pretty good. read more
