The Spaghetti with clams had zero flavour way too much salt and inedible amount of pepper. My boyfriend and I were looking for good Italian food in Trail and walked past Pino's, decked out in Italian red, green, and white, and thought "this is the place!". Service was quick and efficient, and the meals we ordered are memorable for sure! Delicious flavours - we ordered the Spaghetti with Aglio y olio which went perfect with the Chicken Cacciatore and the two of us shared both these plates. We finished with the dreamy and creamy Tiramisu and shared this plate too. We drank a glass of limoncello with the owner, Pino, who sat with us after dinner for lively conversation, and he brought a lovely red rose to each lady in the restaurant which I thought was a very kind touch. Staff were friendly and attentive, the restaurant smelled like cigarette smoke. I ordered the Ragu, I didnt know it was possible to make tomato sauce so bland. My experience at Pino's has always been enjoyed by both myself and my friends. For a small place, Pino has an extensive menu which gives a lovely variety when ordering. Has anyone tried his PIZZA? In Trail, sitting outside (at this time of year) with fresh water, a few glasses of wine, hanging flower baskets with Italian music in the background, it felt like we were in Sicily! It was more than wonderful, the pizza was to die for! We had cannoli for dessert and it was Devine. Pino always gives a rose to each of his female diners which I find extremely kind and special. What I appreciate about the service is that Pino gives these young people a chance and they all try so hard to please the guests, it's a treat to see. Being Italian and growing up with Sunday dinners at Nona's house I always have high expectations. This is by far the best Italian restaurant I've been to. The chef/owner was so nice answered all my questions and convinced me to have the special, it was a pesto pasta which I don't like until he explained what pesto is, this was avocado and pistachio. The plate was huge I have enough for dinner tonight. The garlic toast was delicious. The wine was nice. He convinced me to have his homemade cannoli for dessert, I even gave my husband some. We don't live far from here and are known for our great restaurants, but will definitely make this our go to place for dinner when we come to Trail. I've read some of the reviews and am quite shocked at how negative they are, you people sure you went to the same restaurant? I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant, it's probably the only authentic Italian restaurant in trail. read more

1/2 star (for the very gracious, if clueless, owner and "chef") Where to start.. "authentic?" Hmmm... I had high hopes after reading previous reviews- heavy sigh. I will admit I have high expectations for "authentic Italian" restaurants, even before spending 3 weeks there earlier this year and getting an education in real Italian fare. This was an embarrassingly bad meal.. The "Caesar" salad was the kind you get from the grocery store in a bag. The pasta was on par with what you would get from a jarred sauce and store bought pasta. And to top it off, we could tell our entrees were microwaved. Hot pasta on the outside, cold inside. The garlic bread was laughable. Like "from a bag at Safeway" laughable. The wine was ok, which we downed, hoping it would make the food better. When the owner asked if we wanted dessert, we almost laughed out loud. This was the worst Italian we have ever had in a restaurant. Don't even get me started on the crazy decor- I could have forgiven that if the food was good. I felt like Chef Ramsey was going to pop out from the back for an episode of "Kitchen Disasters". That is how bad it was. read more

Great experience! The service was superb! We were greeted nicely at the door and escorted right away to our table by a nice gentleman. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly and fast. The menu offers a great selection of drinks and dishes at a very reasonable price. We had the following dishes: - Italian Salad with the Chef's special dressing - Fresh, delicious. The plate is quite big so you can easily share. - Cannelloni (My favorite). Surprisingly light with a great filling of ricotta cheese and spinach, flavourful tomato sauce and mozzarella. - Spaghetti Meat balls - Very tasty... The plate is quite big so we got lots of left overs (BIG smile on our face here). The Chef came to each table to ask how everybody appreciated their meals. We could tell he was very passionate about his art. He was pleased to hear we were delighted with our choices, especially the delicious Cannelloni but insisted we try the Tortorini GIGI and the Spaghetti Carbonara so he brought us small plates for us to taste. And WOW... the Tortorini was cooked to perfection with a nice rose sauce with fresh mushrooms... The carbonara sauce was creamy and tasty with delicious pieces of bacon. Well.. awesome. We had been complaining the last few days that good restaurants are hard to find in Trail. Typical choices are McDonalds and A&W. My kid spotted this place and we went with family for lunch. 1) The owners are great. The Chef/Owner is Italian, and loves his craft. 2) The food is great real Italian. All the pastas were perfectly Al Dente and the meat and pesto sauces were great. 3) We started with Bruschetta (perfect, on squishy bread). I had the Gnoccini (yummy sauce). The rest of the family had Ravioli, Spaghetti with Pesto, Canneloni, and they even had yummy GLUTEN FREE spaghetti and macaroni. Try this place. It's good. read more

Two years ago the place was great, but last week for dinner our group was hard pressed to even give 3 stars. It took quite a while to place our order, and even longer for the 3 of us to get served. In fact my friend finally received his dinner, which was exactly the same as my wife ordered, a full 20 minutes after we received ours. Major problems in the kitchen. No apologies were offered. My Fettuccini Alfredo was drowning in a thin cream sauce that was lacking much of a cheese flavor. More like a pasta soup. My friend's Pasta Arribiata was so spicy it was inedible, and he usually likes a bit of heat. If the owner spent more time in the kitchen and less out front things might be better. I said sure I did not receive my dinner just garlic bread. He shrugged kept walking and seated him self at the table. I called today because I just thought we could chat. I told me his girls were busy I said yes. I know that is why I paid for the rest of the meal and walked to the 2 hr show on a slice of garlic bread. He yelled at me at told me he didn't give a shit. First of all, Yelp has Pino's address wrong. I guess they moved. They're at 1166 Pine Ave, in downtown Trail. Don't be put off by the building. It doesn't look like a fine Italian restaurant. It's one of those repurposed gas stations, or car parts stores. The proof is in the pudding, as they say. In this case, the proof is in the Italian cuisine. Pino's offers a wide variety of Italian dishes, including lots of Pasta dishes. They are excellent! They're mid-priced - reasonable for what you get. The staff is friendly, and they'll happily give you the extra plates you need in order to share dishes. Make sure you try the Tiramisu dessert. read more

Thank goodness Trail finally has a delicious choice of Italian cuisine from the traditional Colander. Yes, the Colander gives me all kinds of warm and fuzzy memories of growing up, but If I forget to take a Zantac before eating there, I will regret it again. Pinos pasta was cooked perfectly, the spicy sauce was just the right heat. I tasted 3 other dishes and they all tasted different and fresh. Please keep this quaint restaurant in business, I'm so over the chicken grease served at the Colander. Pino himself, is a warm and inviting host. read more

Amazing!! Pino's was an amazing atmosphere, we were invited in right away. I had called first and ask if they could accommodate our group of 6 and when we arrived everything was ready! They had live music - which was amazing!! They owner came by to introduce himself and gave all the ladies at the table red roses!! The food was delicious-caprese salad was very tasty!! We ordered the Chicken Parmesan, Gnocci and Ravioli Gorgonzola and it was all delicious! I would highly recommend the Ravioli Gorgonzola to anyone!! I have no idea where these people who gave 5 stars ate but it doesn't come close to describing the food I had tonight (take out). I would give this a restaurant a negative rating if I could. I'm Italian and I've been to Italy and that was hands down the worse Italian food I've eaten since I was dared to try a can of Chef Boyardee. I had the bruschetta, caesar salad, and tortilloni Gigi. The salad was under dressed and the croutons were soggy. Whatever dried herb the chef dumped into the tomato mixture, which sat on soggy bread, in the bruschetta was WAY too much. As I tried it for a second time, I physically gagged. The pasta tasted like the cream in the sauce had turned and it too had a pile of some disgusting herb piled in the middle. I seriously wish I could go back in time and un-eat that meal. read more

I mentioned it to them but they asked me if I had a reaction to the nuts, I've never had a reaction to nuts in my life. This was on July 16, 2020. This is a great place for EXCELLENT Italian food. The owner was a very gracious and welcoming man. This place is great on the budget for the quality received! The wine list is small, yet, touched with finite selection. Pino's is very reasonably priced...the wine that we had was $27 for a fantastic bottle, yet I would have and expected to have paid double that. The location is right on Rossland Avenue. I would give this place high marks on quality, quantity and small town ambience. The tomato salad was fantastic! Both pastas that we each had were fantastic. I would strongly recommend this and I would recommend one open in my hometown! We both really really enjoyed the experience tonight! Keep it up! read more

We were passing through Trail and my wife was in the mood for Italian. We checked Yelp and Trip Advisor and came up with Pino's. Overall, the reviews were pretty good, but none of them really did the place justice. We ordered family style and shared an Italian salad, the Arrabiata pasta and veal parmigiana. All were excellent, flavors were nicely blended, and complementary at the same time. Fair warning, we like our food spicy, and with two peppers, the pasta was perfect for us. Portions were more than adequate - we will be having leftovers, tomorrow! Be sure to save room for the cannelloni, they are the best.The chef/owner stopped by our table to ensure that everything was to our liking, and after things slowed down, joined us for a glass of wine. What a great and interesting guy. I don't write many reviews, but this place was perfect and deserves the effort. read more

Service is what gave this restaurant five stars the waitress was really polite and gave us recommendations and the chef/ owner came out and talked to us and other diners during our meal. I ate at pinos after he came to my work and mentioned he was opening a restaurant. Being that I love food and he sounded like he might have a passion for good food I was excited to give it a try. The waitress was nice and the menu looked promising except for the fact that there were pictures of all the food. The bruschetta appetizer sounded good and planned on ordering it. I was pleasantly surprised when it was brought out for free. My wife and I placed our order, chicken Parmesan for her lasagna for me, one meatball just to try, and a carbonara with bacon. I have never tried carbonara and I like bacon. Then I tried the bruschetta, three day old soggy tasteless tomatoes on nicely toasted bread. I had a couple bites scraped off the topping and ate the bread . The food came out quite quickly but my wife's chicken parmesan was a little burnt around the edges. I tried the meatball and on my second bite I had to pick a large piece of Cryovac plastic out of my mouth. So I stopped eating the meatball and and dove into the carbonara. It was quite good, firm noodles and tasty sauce piping hot. That's when the wheels fell completely off the train. After one bite my wife complained to me that her chicken Parmesan seamed a little cold. I immediately poked my finger into the middle of her cutlet fearing raw chicken and it was still partially frozen, I then did the same thing to my untouched lasagna, also cold! My excellent waitress came and asked us how our food was. I politely mentioned to her that my pre frozen entrées were extremely under microwaved. When she asked if I wanted a replacement I said "No thank we would just like to send them back. My wife and I shared the carbonara. I commented that we may have been served the actual meal that had been photographed for the menu. Pino never even looked in our direction just kept making himself drinks from the bar. The fact that you would burn a chicken cutlet ahead of time, freeze it, then reheat in a microwave is unthinkable. A cutlet takes six minutes to cook fresh crispy and yummy. Pino you just can't freeze food reheat it in the microwave serving cold soggy overcooked cutlets and antique lasagne and call it fine dining. I call that Michelina's and you can get that for a dollar in the frozen food section of your supermarket. As a wise woman said many times "Don't pee down my back and tell me it's raining." read more
