To support local businesses this Christmas, I purchased a loungewear set and a high-end tracksuit from this store. Regrettably, my experience with these items has been less than satisfactory. I reached out to the store before writing this review because I didn't want to damage their reputation and hoped this was just a misunderstanding. I wrote them a personal letter and got no response. I have since gone online to check their customer reviews and there are a lot of unhappy customers. I purchased the items online. Discovering that one of the brick-and-mortar stores was in Wakefield, I decided to return them in person. I was told that I could not return them in the store, and would have to mail them back. When I got home and looked up the address to return online purchases, it was the address of the Wakefield store! What? I called the store to verify and was told that this was indeed the case. I found this ridiculous since I live a few miles from the store. In addition to the cheapest postage fee (which was $8.00), I had to pay a restocking fee. The loungewear set arrived without any tags. Nothing - not a Pink Pineapple tag or a price tag. It looked cheap and like something I could have bought at TJ Maxx for a fraction of the price. And, the tracksuit was ill-fitting and also not worth the price. After doing some online searches, I found the same products sold at Pink Pineapple. They were significantly cheaper. I am sorry to report this. I don't know if the Newport store is connected with the Wakefield store, but I won't be going back. Some of the things in the store are really cute, but the customer experience - yikes! read more

Pink Pineapple is a Thames Street staple, and a longtime shopping destination of mine when I was a preteen and they were the only store in town that carried those mesh-sequin slippers that were all the rage in 2005. While those have gone out of fashion, Pink Pineapple's still here, bringing preppy (if expensive) clothes, jewelry, and other accessories to visitors and locals alike. I came in here the other day to get a birthday gift for my aunt, and easily selected a pair of adorable bohemian beaded earrings that she loved. They were on sale, and although I would have paid full price for a gift for her, it was serendipitous to find the perfect earrings marked down! The inventory is pricy, so be prepared to pay a pretty penny for Pink Pineapple. However, they do carry a few cute and unique items, like embroidered sweaters with kitschy sayings like "Locals Only" emblazoned on them. At press time, they're also doing a decent end-of-summer clothing sale, where select items are going for $20-$50. Check it out, who knows what you might find! Service is a mixed bag here. I've had great experiences and so-so ones across the board every time I shop in here. Some of the salespeople are attentive and friendly, and super helpful - like the young woman that was working when I went in for the earring purchase - but others seem bored and disinterested. Oh well. A word to the wise - they also only do store credit for clothing returns, and earrings can't be returned at all, so purchase with care! read more

Like most reviews posted a bad experience ends our high praises after many liked items. I bought a red linen dress by Umgee USA and after the 1st hand washing the seams in the tiered dress opened up in 4 places. After repeated attempts to speak to a person with any knowledge I received a curt email from the owner. Stating the return policy after a garment is worn. Ok well Umgee will give Pink Pineapple full credit as that is their manufactures return policy. Yet Pink Pineapple will not take back ANY ITEM EVEN IF THE SEAMS FAIL. I no longer recommend this store to anyone and have removed them from the "recommendations in area" list my family provides to our renters. BUYER BEWARE!!!!! read more

From Jamestown, my husband drove onto the two-mile-long Claiborne Pell Bridge which soars 215 feet above the bay right into Newport! It was scary but exhilarating! The scenary reminds me of the movie- The Patriot with Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger, full fledged American colonial spirit. We were ready to see what this town has to offer in a day. And boy were we prepared for a lot of walking and venturing into the shopping district: antique shops, gift shops, cafes, restaurants, churches, galleries, and even a regal-looking postal office. After much sight-seeing, I wandered into this boutique. The owner was not friendly. She didn't acknowledged any customers that walked through the door. The boutique itself was cute and colorful. An array and splash of colors and designs were found in accessories and clothing. Clothes were all in size XS and S. Yes, I'm very serious. Is it me or it's specifically meant to target customers who fall into two categories: petite and hour-glass figure? This is offensive particularly for women who aren't blessed with skinny genes. I'm a sz small myself but I won't be expecting any sz higher than a 4. The price tags are ridiculous and screams tourist trap. Unlike designer boutiques, the owner carries Urban Outfitters and departmental brands and charges high-end prices! $240 for a dress that looked like it was picked out from Forever 21 and a simple pink skirt for $160. The quality and brand just don't fit the price tag at all! Women who were crowding into the boutique had extremely slim waistline* and ramaged through the racks like there was no tomorrow. There were some cute accessories that I would had purchased but refused. This boutique was meant to only attract and target a specific crowd in mind. Exclusively appeal to pretentious high end fashionistas with skinny waistlines*, won't mind shelling out serious cash to shop in a pretty pink boutique, and worships the store because there is no other like it in the small town of Newport. * Please Note: I do not discriminate any type of figure! Whether you are curvy, full-figured, petite, boyish, pear-shaped, etc., you are all beautiful. However this boutique just disgusts me with their selective sizes.* Shame on Pink Pineapple! read more

The store offers a wide variety of cute merchandise, but I am a little disappointed that this retailer offers lower prices online for the same merchandise. When I asked the associate why the vest I purchased was $10 cheaper online, she could not offer me an explanation and would not match the price from their website. As a customer, I feel a little cheated. A few days later, I reached out to the company explaining the issue. A very nice employee got back to me and offered me a $10 refund. I am glad they gave me a refund, but I will most likely not be returning to their store because I feel as though their pricing strategy is a little unethical. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! I made an online purchase from Pink Pineapple for a clutch I had been desperately searching for. After a week of hearing nothing and her not responding to multiple emails, the owner finally admitted she did not have the item in stock any longer and stated she would provide a refund via PayPal. Her correspondence was very rude. She did NOT refund my money, and I had to file a claim against her to get my money returned, which I am in the middle of at the moment. She is not responding to that either, so I am having to wait the full time to get my money back. What a lousy experience; oh and I ended up finding the clutch for 40% less elsewhere. read more

Always stop in this store when in Newport because they have cute stuff. There was a specific shirt my sister was looking for that she saw online but wanted to try it on before ordering online because their online ordering process is not good. Expensive shipping and no money back returns... The shirt was not in their Newport store but the girl working that day said it could possibly be in their flagship store which is in Wakefield RI. I said great and asked the girl what hours the store was open tomorrow (Sunday) she said 12:00 to 5:00 and I made it clear that I would be going the next day. So you can only imagine how upset and frustrated I was when we (there were 3 of us) went out of our way to find the store was Closed!!! Very disappointed that the employee at the store misinformed us of the hours. And I live 2 hours away so going back another day is not possible! So they lost some big sales from the 3 of us! read more

I love the products I have gotten here. This year for Christmas I ordered a monogrammed bag as a gift. It said 2 weeks estimated time. When two weeks had gone and went, I called to get the status. I was told by a less than empathetic employee that the monogrammer has been sick and was supposed to email, but I guess she didn't. When I explained it was a gift that I was counting on she said "oh, yeah sorry." No attempt to make it right at all. I will never order or shop here again. It doesn't take a lot to put in a little effort to keep a customer. Especially one that shops a lot and is fluent in public reviews. read more

This is surely a "get what you pay for" type of store. Yeah they sell plenty of good looking, wear every once in a while jewelry, but be prepared for it to fall apart...because in the end it just cheap jewelry. Don't expect them to replace it either, they only stand by their product for 30 days and we all know that people wear once in a while fashion jewelry so much in 30 days. read more

Extremely terrible customer service. I have been here several times in my trips to newport and it's always crowded with teens who don't move out of the way. Well I went today and bought a pair of earrings and a bracelet set, both of which were gifts and extremely overpriced to boot. So I asked for earring backs and was told they didn't have any - without the cashier even looking. Then I asked for two bags because they both were gifts and was told they "don't do bags for just earrings." Mind you the earrings were almost $20 without backs and they couldn't even give me a bag so they would look presentable? So due to he cheapness, overpriced and rude customer service this place will be crossed off my list now when I visit newport. It's a shame because I came to newport just to visit this store this time. I would definitely NOT recommend this store to anyone. Rude and cheap. read more

Since I am totally obsessed with pineapples, I just had to check out this little boutique. They have an interesting assortment of funky dresses, skirts, tops and jewelry but it was all just a little too colorful and funky for my tastes (I wear black a lot). Also, I was disappointed to find that there wasn't really much emphasis on pineapples. I was thinking I might see a few pieces of pineapple jewelry or some cute pineapple tops but no. It was also seriously crowded. They have a small space and it looked like only two dressing rooms. There was a small horde of ladies hovering around the dressing room and also blocking the check out so it was a bit claustrophobic and rather than linger and check things out in more detail, I felt I had to get out before having an anxiety attack. However, I did pick up a super cute Pink Pineapple eco friendly tote featuring their awesome pink pineapple logo for a mere $5. So cute! I will definitely check this place out again the next time I am in Newport, maybe in the fall when let's hope it's less crowded. read more

Terrible customer service. Ordered a dress online, tried to cancel order the next day and couldn't. Sent it back and was charged a 15% restocking fee. I paid to have it shipped to me and I paid to ship it back. So I spent 65 dollars and was credited 43. Owner told me that if I wanted a store credit there would not be restocking fee. Will never shop there again. Cheap clothes and horrible customer service. HORRIBLE read more

Cheap merchandise expensively priced. I was given a very weird necklace from there as a gift. I knew it was from them because it came in a cloth bag necklace bag branded with their logo and website (and that was inside a paper bag with their logo and website). Also, it was currently being sold in their store. Obviously I didn't expect cash back, but I hoped to exchange it for something else I might use more frequently. They said they couldn't EXCHANGE it without a receipt! They were so rude! I have never heard of such a policy. No other store in Newport - high or low end - acts like this. My daughter bought 2 dresses from their online store. When they arrived they were both too big. We drove to Newport to exchange for the right size. They had one of the two dresses there in the correct size but would not exchange because they said it would "mess up their inventory". After driving all of the way there we were told she needed to send them back in the mail. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. read more

Left here about an hour ago after purchasing a blanket scarf. The sign on the rack said "blanket scarfs now $28 were $38." I was charged $38 and when asked why it wasn't $28 the girl checking me out said "some are $28, some are $38" with no further explanation. There are no prices marked on the scarves themselves so this sign was incredibly misleading. The one girl working was very rude and took no interest in me being in the store even though there was not a single other person in there. I will not be returning to the Pink Pineapple on any future trips to Newport. read more

Tried to order a cashmere topper online. Site would not accept the discount code. Notified customer service and received a half baked response that did not remedy the problem. Sent another email explaining exact problem and did not receive any response. This was not the first time I ordered from their website but it is definitely the last. Found them to be very dismissive. I visited The Pink Pineapple while recently on vacation. Upon entering the stores I was greeted by a very friendly sales clerk . I fell in love with a sweater and bought it to remember my trip. A few days later I wore the sweater while site seeing. Within a very short time the sweater was full of snags. I wasn't wearing any jewelry, with children or animals or near any rough objects. Seeing as I was now a long way from Newport, I sent pictures of the sweater to the owner, asking what I should do. She was very abrasive and in my sister's and my opinion rude. She wasn't even willing to listen to my concerns. I truly feel the sweater was not of first quality workmanship. For the price I paid, it should not have raveled the way it did. Awful customer service and cheap jewelry for astronomical prices. I was in Newport last month and stopped into Pink Pineapple to purchase a pair of earrings to match a dress I had recently bought. I picked out a pair I liked and purchased them. The store was extremely crowded so I did not "inspect" the earrings before purchasing them. When I got home, I went to put the earrings on with my dress and realized that one of the stones was glued on crooked and about to fall off. I immediately went back down to the store and politely asked if I could exchange the pair of earrings for ones that did not have a broken stone. The girl working, who was EXTREMELY rude and unfriendly, told me that they do not accept returns on jewelry. While this is completely understandable not to accept returns for jewelry, one would think if you sell someone something that is broken, that they would accept an exchange. False. Not only was the girl beyond rude, but she told me that it was my duty to inspect things before I purchase them, and it was my fault that I purchased a broken pair of earrings. One would think that a store would inspect their own merchandise before they rip off their customers and take their money. Apparently not! I will not be returning to Pink Pineapple, and as a Newport native, will let my friends know as well. read more
