Dear Ms. Rowley: Your company contracted to cater my…read morehusband's 60th Surprise Birthday for September 18th, 2016. I fulfilled my monetary obligation according to the contract and you did not. According to the contract (which I enclosed) my event started at 11:00am and food was to be served starting at 12:30pm, dropped off at 12. Food was not served until 1:45pm (1 hour and 15 mins late) and it was only served at that time because my sister and I had to help set up and put the food out. Not part of the contract. We had to help because the servers arrived late at 1:00pm with nothing ready and did not have the proper equipment. The food they brought still needed to be prepared, warmed up, plated and put into chaffing dishes. (Per our discussion and follow up email, this was to be handled differently.) I ordered appetizers and they were to be passed at 12:30pm. The servers did not have the appetizers ready to go nor did they have plates to put them on. When the servers finally did arrive, they were preparing the appetizers. I had to stop them and tell them it is way past lunch time and they should be getting the buffet going since people were hungry. They started to work on preparing the lunch buffet with my sister (who was my guest!) while I quickly put out my 3pm snacks that I had prepared, so the guest would have something to eat. Next I got my utensils and prepared the buffet. While in the kitchen; the servers were warming up food and putting it into the chaffing dishes. My sister assisted with the getting the salad out and I helped to get the food out once it was warmed up. You were to provide a tablecloth but did not and there were not enough utensils. The food was horrible, no one enjoyed it and they left the food on their plate. There was so much food left over! The food the servers brought was nothing like you described in the contract, the company's catering menu and website. The servers where actually embarrassed by the food and the terrible situation you put them into. You know this is true because they were texting the contact left and right about all the issues they were having. Per the contract: I was to have BBQ chicken, not boiled chicken thighs with barbeque sauce thrown on top after the chicken was warmed up in the microwave. The chicken arrived in Ziploc bags and the servers had to warm it up, did not arrive in chaffing dishes as you stated in your email. Enclosures: Pictures with descriptions Email chain of timeline and process Contract Agreement Grilled Lemon Salmon, was oven baked salmon in foil,- It arrived in individual pieces cooked in foil, the servers had to unwrap pieces of salmon, warm them up. They had no spices, herbs, or garnishes. It did not arrive in chaffing dishes you stated in your email. Chili beans looked like they were from a can, not like what explained and what your show on your website. Green Salad was from a bag and in a plastic bowl, not like what you have on your website. Salad dressing- only 1 bottle for 100ppl, which was already opened and half way empty. A leftover opened salad dressing, not refrigerated is a violation of a health code. One server had to leave to go to the store when they were already and hour late to get more salad dressing and paper plates because there were not enough paper plates to start serving lunch, this delayed the lunch further. Watermelon- Not sliced, it was cube and soggy, tasted terrible, no one ate it. Passed appetizers, not served at 12:30 as contracted, they were plated by 3:00pm on my plates and put on the buffet. Deviled eggs, arrived not stuff, the egg whites were so flimsy your server threw half of them away, she told me she could not serve them, they were not acceptable. Bruschetta did not have a spread, they needed to be warmed up because the bread was stale and there were no garnishes. - refer to pictures I included of how it should have looked per your website. Quiche, there was not enough for 100ppl and it had to be warmed up. According to your contract and your emails it is evident that you did not provided the service and product that was agreed upon. I included pictures from your website which you told me to look at to get an idea of the food I would receive for my husband's 60th surprise birthday. The appetizers should have been plated and ready to be passed at 12:30pm and lunch was to be served at 1:00pm. That is what was discussed more than once verbally and communicated through email. The food should have been prepared properly so it would be tasty, look appealing and reflect the contract.

Because the Holiday Cocktail Party that my company was planning was for over 1000 people we decided that it would be best to hire an Event Planner to execute our vision and plan. When we were referred to Young, I took a look at her Yelp reviews and was so excited to see and read about all of the personal touches and unique designs that she brought to her events. However, when we did a walk-through of our space and sat down to talk with Young, her team, and her vendor, Fine Linen Creations (http://www.yelp.com/biz/fine-linen-creations-san-jose-2), I began to become a bit concerned. Young and her vendor kept pushing fresh cut bouquets and an exorbitant amount of draping. We were very very very clear on a multitude of occasions that we did NOT WANT all fresh cut flowers at $75/piece. We found them to be a waste of money as well as just a waste in general because they are disposable. We discussed that since we would have over 60 tables, that we should do flowers on some tables and on the other tables do some Poinsettias, festive branches, ornaments, etc. These items would add uniqueness as well as extreme cost savings, to which one of her assistants rolled her eyes at me. We expressed extreme concern that we did not want to spend our budget on a ton of draping and chair covers and we were looking for a very fun festive Holiday feel and that we did not want it to be stuffy, formal, or wedding-like. We offered up a lot of specific ideas on decor, layout, etc. We clarified that we wanted to have decor in the foyer as well as on the patio, which had views that were absolutely gorgeous. We signed off on the floor-plans and details prior to our event. But then, on the night of our party, we show up and walk in to a Foyer without the decor we discussed and look out on to a patio with no decorations (both wasted opportunities). As I walked through the floor to ceiling draping I entered a room with 60+ tables all adorned with huge floral bouquets and RED ROSE PETALS sprinkled around them, Pretty...FOR A WEDDING OR A PROM! The layout was not as we had agreed upon nor did they execute the ideas that we were very specific about. The venue removed our food 1 1/2 hours after our event started which left everyone 3 more hours of a party where they were drinking with no food available. If this was the venue's decision, it should have been addressed immediately by Young and her Team. We were the clients, paying her a ton of money, and our needs and wishes were, for the most part, ignored.

She…read morewas really helpful to me as my wedding was relatively complicated in terms of timing issues. (I believe even for the simplist wedding it can be much different and easier with Christine's help.) My wedding had a church ceremony and a golf clubhouse reception. The two venues are more than 10 miles apart, and each of them had other events before/after my wedding using the same site. I thought I could handle the wedding planning all by myself until I started arranging for the transportation and logistics of the big day. Even though my two venues provided their experienced site-coordinators separately, they couldn't help me with the time limitation, the transition from one site to another and many customized details. I realized that I definitely need a day-of coordinator dealing with the whole wedding day and the rehearsal the night before. Fortunately I found Christine. She offered a lot at very reasonable price. And most importantly, she did a great job helping me plan ahead and executing my ideas on the day. From 3 months ahead, she started scheduling meetings with me and my fiance to customize our timeline and "To-Do" list. After knowing what we want to include in our wedding, she suggested a sample schedule/timeline. Then she went into detail asking what restrictions my venues may have, what special requirement/difficulties my wedding party members may have, what are provided by my venues, and so on. Then she would suggest modification on the day-of timeline accordingly and document them well, until we are all satisfied with the schedule. At the end, she would contact all my vendors and confirm the final version of timeline with each of them. We had 3 pre-wedding meetings with her in total. I found those meetings extremely helpful in two ways. First, they help me screen out relevant stuff which I neglect and improve on the timing and all the lists (must-take photo/video lists, drop-off item lists, wedding party's task lists, etc) to be much reasonable and managable rather than wanting everything and making things impractical. Second, she assigned "To-Do" tasks to me and my fiance respectively as well as a deadline of each task. As a result, my fiance became more involved in the planning process and released part of the burden on my shoulder. When my fiance lagged on his "action item" or running behind deadline, Christine would kindly reminded him to finish his part, preventing me from blowing up on my fiance and being pissy all the time. She was effective in executing my plans and ideas. I guess her key is to make sure everyone (wedding party, vendors, other site-coordinators) is on the same page. She even printed out schedules and tasks on a small card for wedding party members to carry with. I was so glad she could constantly take my "order" and designate right person to do stuff I suddenly came up with, considering I didn't have a cellphone on me that day. Except for going through the rehearsal with us the day before and coordinating my wedding the day of, she also threw in a favor of picking up all the decor/stuff which I couldn't drop off to the venues beforehand. She made a check list of those items and checked them off one by one when she fetched them from me or my bridesmaids. And she also transferred everything from church to reception. Later on, I found out there was not a single item missing or late. All in all, I and my husband were very satisfied with Christine's coordinating. I couldn't imagine what my wedding would be like without her. I am sure if I tried to save a few hundred bucks by not having a coordinator, I would regret now.

Because I used to plan events and know the extensive details involved, I procrastinated delving into my wedding details. Christine was on top of them sending me gentle reminders monthly before my wedding. At our few meetings leading to the wedding she asked me questions and gave helpful suggestions that I just wouldn't have thought of. It was definitely a huge burden lifted to have Christine there the day of the wedding to hunt vendors and give directions to the lost ones. The only thing I would suggest is that you don't torture her the way I did by only having one Maid of Honor and no bridesmaids to lend a few helping hands. Christine excels in wedding planning because she is intelligent organized, detail-oriented, sweet but not a pushover, and has been a recent bride herself. Her passion and true love for weddings is the ray of light that helps to center you when your wedding dress doesn't fit, guests are being fickle about attending, and people tell your fiance his only job is to show up to the wedding. Going above and beyond, Christine also gave me two shoulders to cry on. Love her!
