I asked her if she had any suggestions of other planners in the area and she said, "If I were getting married, I would hire Amy to plan my wedding." In my mind, that was about as good of a recommendation as you could get! Before I met Amy, we already had a pretty defined overall vision and a good number of our vendors booked. While I knew we needed someone to help coordinate the schedule and all the moving parts of our big day, I was really worried about entrusting a wedding planner with anything related to design. It sounds ridiculous, but I'm a bit of a control freak so even the idea of me potentially not being there to set up the space the day of our wedding scared the crap out of me. Enter Amy. After meeting Amy and spending a couple of sessions with her, she just got it. She got it in a way I never could have imagined. She has an unbelievable talent of deeply understanding her clients, and she knew exactly what we were looking for as far as the mood and aesthetic went. She had great ideas and creative solutions and all of her recommendations were spot on. As we got closer to the wedding, and the tasks started piling up she was able to take so many things off my plate. I totally trusted her and she rocked it. Having the peace of mind that everything would get done and be amazing, made Amy worth her weight in gold. As far as the logistical details went, she was awesome. From the big things (like the set up of the space or the day-of schedule) to the small (like what fork and napkins we should rent), she had excellent recommendations, was ridiculously organized, and on top of everything. She coordinated directly with our vendors, so we didn't even have to think about it. She had an amazing wealth of wedding knowledge and was always super responsive and accommodating when I had questions. She was always so sweet and friendly, even when I texted her late in the evening with another question or I just needed to get something out of my head. Ultimately, Amy played the role of so many invaluable players along the way--task master, creative director, organizer, orchestrator, master crafter, therapist, air traffic controller and ultimately friend. Come wedding day, the entire thing went off without a hitch. The set-up and space (which thank god I wasn't there for) was beautiful and more lovely than I ever could have imagined. Our guests had a blast. We had a blast. It was true perfection! We feel so incredibly grateful for everything Amy did for us, which was far above and beyond what we actually hired her to do. I met with Amy and it was clear that day that I wanted to work with her. This was about 3 months prior to our wedding, which was October 2014 at Carmel Valley Ranch. My husband and I have very busy jobs and lives, and we don't have time to be indecisive. So, we needed someone who: - brought great options (but not too many) to the table the 1st time around - listened to our budget, - understood our style (or lack of) - was responsive to both if us - worked nicely with other vendors and our venue - no bullsh** - consistently communicated with everyone involved - had a laid-back attitude throughout (including wedding day!); otherwise we would have been stressed out ourselves. This is admittedly an exhaustive list, but she checked off every single thing. Most importantly, our fear was that after attending some pretty impressive friends' weddings, our wedding would feel cliché. Turns out our wedding was anything but cliché. Amy and her wonderful assistant Andi incorporated extremely personal touches that everybody noticed and appreciated. This included some DIY projects of Amy's, and will be featured in our new home for decades to come. Furthermore, Amy flawlessly navigated day-of obstacles like rain the morning of an outdoor wedding, timing speeches intermittently during exciting innings of the SF Giants World Series playoff game, my grandmother's limited mobility, giving out tips to all vendors, and a shuttle that showed up late to bring the bridal party (and bride!) to begin the wedding. Late that night, my husband arrived back in our room to find a thoughtfully-ordered charcuterie platter and wedding cake slices that we hungrily devoured while reading her sweet note. I can't recommend Amy enough. I'm already excited to have another occasion (albeit not another wedding!) that I can call on her for. Best of all, she's just a cool chick that I have fun hanging out with. Not everyone deserves Amy, but if you're lucky enough to, you'll have one amazing wedding/event/friend.

Nicole's pricing was very reasonable and she was willing to "negotiate" what service to provide. I wanted to be in control of much of the event leading up to our wedding and Nicole totally respected that and stepped in for tasks only when asked. This is a huge deal and so appreciated when you're someone who likes to have control of a situation. Nicole was willing to text with me late nights and weekend mornings, helping me find wedding details and decor when my sleepless mind wouldn't stop. She was full of suggestions and recommendations but was never pushy. On the day of the wedding, Nicole was a life saver. I am not kidding. We couldn't have done it without her. She was timely, responsible, and extremely proactive. She spent all morning making sure everything was perfect. When I tell you I didn't have to life a finger, I mean it. Nicole did absolutely everything from managing the floral design when the florist showed up, setting up her entire dessert table, managing the wait staff, recruiting venue staff, chatting with guests, getting all our vendors their dinner plates, getting US our dinner plates. All of the details you wouldn't think of, she was already 10 steps ahead. My entire family was floored at how incredible this one woman team was. Nicole would take control of situations as they'd come up day of and would come check in with me to confirm what her suggestions were worked for me. She helped us with our marriage contract too which easily could have been overlooked. I cannot say enough good things. I didn't even see our venue space day of until I walked down the aisle and had our grand entrance. The room took my breath away, she did the best job making a space reflect all the elements I had told her I wanted. My co-worker and I wanted to do something really different and fun and we happened upon Mysteries for Hire online. So we called them up and set up a meeting. Jeremy came out to the venue in San Ramon to meet us and check out the set up. He was extremely enthusiastic and you could just tell how much he loves his company and being an entertainer! It took a lot of convincing from my co-worker and I to get our very conservative company to allow us to do the murder mystery but we did it and were excited to see it all pan out. Jeremy insisted on keeping the details of the mystery a secret from the committee so that we could still participate which was a nice treat after all of the planning we had done. When the day of the event finally arrived everything went smoothly. Jeremy showed up with I think 4 other cast members who intermingled with our guests through the cocktail hour and sat down with them to enjoy lunch. One of the cast members acted as the 'host' for the evening and basically played MC and handled our gift raffles for us which was really helpful. Overall it was just a really fun event! We recieved an unbelievable amount of 'Thank You's and kudos from our guests so I know it will be an event to remembered for years. I hope I have the opportunity to plan event with Mysteries for Hire {Hit & Run Productions} again in the future and I 100% recommend them to anyone in need of some 'WOW!' party entertainment!

Long Review: My wife and I got married in 2016, having a small wedding at the beach with only 15 friends and family in attendance. We were self-financing everything, so we decided to hold off for one year to have our "Official Reception" with all of our friends and extended family in attendance. So, in 2017, we were looking for something "different and outside the box" for our wedding reception. We were scrolling through Yelp, seeking out interesting things we could do, rather than just the usual "have dinner, dance, host a photo booth, etc" kind of party. We looked at several options and nixed them all: magicians (too cheesy), stand-up video game rentals (probably wouldn't be a hit with the older crowd) and a "casino night" (you can't win any real money, and some of our religious friends might have a real problem with gambling in the first place). Then we ran across "Mysteries For Hire". I casually tossed out "What about a murder-mystery" and my wife immediately perked up. "DONE!", she exclaimed! The reviews were glowing, but as there were only three available to read, I had a little bit of hesitation. I reached out to the contact, and got back a very interesting text message that was signed "Murderously yours, Jeremy". We were intrigued. We asked to meet with Jeremy, as this would constitute a significant expense for our reception. What I thought would be a 20 minute meeting turned into two hours of hilarious stories about previous mysteries Jeremy had performed and an exchange of ideas and information so that he could begin to craft a custom murder mystery just for our event. And here's the kicker: My wife and I would get to participate in the "Whodunnit" portion!!!! I had just assumed he would HAVE to tell us how it was all going down, but Jeremy assured us that we would be just as in the dark about the unfolding story and how it would all pan out. And boy, he wasn't kidding! Over the next several months, we would touch base with Jeremy, who assured us everything was coming together. He approved our venue and we prepared for the "big day". On the afternoon of our reception, Jeremy and his crew met up with me and we went over some of the basics of the mystery. He and his crew would infiltrate the reception casually and mingle with the guests. They were GREAT! I don't wish to spoil any of the characters, but there were six primary characters, all whom were interacting with our guests- some in funny ways, some in more "normal" ways. The cool part of this was that my wife and I have such a diverse group of friends from all over (we both worked on cruise ships for 3 1/2 years, and I'm from the East Coast), that none of our friends know all of our other friends. So, the ruse worked. I don't want to reveal any more details, but I can assure you that what transpired during the "murder" and the "Whodunnit" phase was filled with laughs. Jeremy's cast are fantastic at improvisation, but what really surprised us was how well our own friends and family reacted, and how some of the funniest moments came from the crowd being interviewed and asking questions of the cast members. In the end, we found out "Whodunnit" and then everyone gave a standing ovation to Jeremy and his crew. They even posed for pictures with the guests afterwards. I highly recommend Mysteries For Hire for your event! The actors will perform so well, and there will be laughs all around, and you might end up being surprised by the comedy that comes from your fellow guests as well. She kept us on budget and was always reminding us when certain things were due, such as deposits, etc. Her help was priceless the day of the wedding. My husband and I didn't have to worry about anything. We could totally enjoy the day, and not have to worry about talking to the people delivering the cupcakes or flowers. In fact, she went above and beyond her call of duty, returning a CD I had borrowed from a musician playing at the wedding. Honestly, I don't the wedding could have happened so beautifully without Icea's help and would recommend her to anyone looking for a wedding planner!! :)
