The warm covered patio at the back seemed a comfortable option than the in-cafe and at the front seats. Oh, the clean public toilets are located by the patio also. After a morning touring around London, we decided to visit St.Johns Wood where a good friend lives. We stumbled upon Fego at ~2:00pm on a Sunday and the waitress put together two tables to accommodate our 4-person family outside. Salads: my wife and I split a "Chili Chicken salad" with avocado, sweet peppers, hamoulli cheese, shaved carrots and a light dressing. The chicken was tasty with a slight kick and the cheese was rich but not overpowering. My daughter got a salmon salad with avocado that was similarly tasty and healthy. Sandwich: We got an Italian panini with prosciutto, mozzarella, lettuce, pesto, avocado on a ciabatta roll. The roll was toasted (nice) but the cheese not really melted, which would have been nicer. Still, a very tasty and healthy sandwich. Finally, our 6-year old ordered pancakes with blueberries from the kids menu and was very happy dipping into maple syrup and coloring his menu. Our family tends to make lots of special orders ("avocado on the side, dressing on the side, pesto on the side,....") as we like to share and have different tastes. Our waitress got them all correct the first time and didn't make us feel badly at all. In addition to our great food and nice service, the menu had probably 2-3 items we each wanted but didn't order so we'll definitely go back. They also offer single origin coffee and non-espresso options, which is shockingly unique in this area. The staff are exceptionally friendly and the location is very quaint. This is definitely worth a visit, especially as it is near both train stations, the bus depot, tour bus gateway, river cruise, and all sorts of other attractions (like, say, a giant castle).

Well, it was a good thing we did, since we didn't get to go back for afternoon tea... Just as the name suggests, it is located right by the canal. It was very picturesque, peaceful and relaxing. They also have seating upstairs, and had histories on the canal, with photos posted all around the wall. Their cakes looked amazing, but I decided not to order any dessert on this day. Yes I know, a big mistake! Our friend ordered Heavenly Hot Chocolate, and it looked so pretty! We went with Teashop House Blend Tea, and Earl Grey. The young boy who brought the teas (I hear this is a family-run business) was trying to very careful not to mix them up. But the funny thing was, he totally mixed the tea up! LOL. We didn't realize until half way through... I thought the House Blend tea tasted so much like Earl Grey. For lunch, we had Ham, Cheese & Chutney Sandwich and Eggs Benedict. They were both tasty, nice portion, and filling. Our friend went with something healthier, and ordered one of their vegan sandwiches. It is nice to have that option if you want or need vegan dish. We had a nice quick lunch here. It was adorable and cozy. The food was good, not amazing, but good. I think the sweets might be better than the actual food...I will never know, unless I go back! Everything has been beautifully restored. The perfect place for traditional cream tea. The scones - as well as all the cakes on offer - are home made. Tea is served in china pots (rather than those horrible metal ones that never pour properly) and just perfect, even though they use teabags rather than leaves. The perfect place to forget about the credit crunch, global warming and impending recession for an hour or so.
