I was initially reluctant to use a wedding/event planner for several reasons - wanting to save money, being fairly crafty/creative myself and having confidence in handling on my own details in pursuing something less "traditional", and being pretty resourceful. Shortly into the planning process, I realized it was going to be harder than I thought. I then met Mandi Buckland of Element Design. What sealed the deal was her calm energy and diversity in events she's worked on (weddings, parties, festivals, including "green" fests/events). She was great in identifying several unique wedding location options in Southwest and Southern MI, including a fabulous barn, a garden, and a super cool lodge (we ended up at a mansion in Holland). When I asked her to design the invitations with a "modern art nouveau theme" using a peacock to match the theme of a mansion built in the early 1900s (not easy!) - she provided several fabulous sample designs within a short period of time. Our final invitations were really unique and fun! After our invites went out, I received an unexpected amount of of great feedback ("I love your invitations!" "They are so unique," etc.) and I could tell they made people look forward to the wedding. I felt like Mandi figured out my sense of my style quickly, and she was able to identify options that fit that were creative, cost-conscious (extra plus) and didn't compromise on quality. At the same time she was working with me, she was helping a friend design invitations for a wedding at the Drake Hotel in Chicago, so her range of work can be simple, arty/less traditional, to more traditional/upscale. Pretty impressive! Mandi is professional, efficient, super creative, and I would recommend her to anyone in Chicago, Detroit (or anywhere in between the two cities in Michigan or Illinois) who is planning a wedding in Southwest or Southern Michigan!

Great facility with a lots of actitivites and events for all ages from kids to seniors. They have…read morebingo, dance classes, bid whist, water aerobics for adults, day camp for kids, basketball court, swimming sessions and swimming lessons for all ages. The pool and workout room are very nice and they have steam and sauna rooms. The facility also offers an outdoor walking track and outdoor fitness equipment. In the winter, you can workout at the indoor gym which has all of the usual gym equipment. I have to give a special shoutout to Linda at the front desk who was so helpful and informative when getting me and my mom registered. Also Sharon who works in the locker rooms went above and beyond in giving my mom and I a tour of the facilities. We weren't expecting a tour and just asked Sharon for directions and she was so kind in showing us all that the facility has to offer. I am really looking forward to enjoying many activities here!

Rob, one of the owners of EEG, called me without hesitation or reservation. He didn't make me feel like an idiot for calling 2 days before my wedding. He just assessed what I wanted, made sure they had the lighting to do so, gave me a quote and set it all up the day of the wedding. I received TONS of compliments with how beautiful the room looked and the amazing lighting and decor. My wedding theme was more romantic, with lots of votive candles, but the one thing I wanted more than anything (as far as wedding decor) were bistro lighting over the dance floor to look like my husband and I were dancing underneath the stars. He was also able to add the sheer cloth with stringed lights for our the back of our headtable... which really made a difference in the room! First of all, not that many lighting vendors even can do that. Second, EEG was the only vendor who attended to me with such short notice. When I talked to Rob and asked how he was able to do it, he simply told me EEG loves to do weddings and was excited for this challenge. They truly made my dream wedding come true. Rob is amazing to work with! He and the rest of the EEG staff are so amazing and very diligent workers. He told me he had 6 other weddings to set-up and tear down, but it did not interfere with the amazing work they put up for us. Hands down, one of the best vendors I've worked with!! And I truly recommend the Encore Event Group for all your lighting, decor and sound needs!!

At no additional charge, Time to Play generously gave us extension cords and some extra gear (including cones to make an obstacle course for the ride-on horses). We paid only $200 for the moonwalk, as we chose to pick it up and set it up ourselves. Set-up was quick and easy, and the printed instructions they provided were super helpful.
