Heard about this place on Puertoricodaytrips.com and tried to hunt it down the first night some…read morefriends and I were in Puerto Rico. We almost missed it driving by. It's a little roadside bar with outdoor seating and the food on display. More of a food stand/bar than a restaurant, similar to the kiosks in Luquillo. Great place to go on a warm night. We didn't really know what to order so I walked up and said "What's the best?" in my limited spanish and they said "everything." They were absolutely correct. We ordered the chicken, mafongo, plaintains, and the roasted pork. Everything was pulled off the spit, cut with a machete and served fresh. The chicken and pork was moist, tender and delicious. Some of the best chicken I've ever had. The mafongo and plaintains were equally good. Best of all it was dirt cheap. All in all, an excellent introduction to authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. It can be a little intimidating because it has a bit of a "locals only" feel. The food is worth a little initial discomfort and you'll get over it very quickly once you see how friendly everyone is.

Woah, not for the faint hearted. If you ate here everyday then you'd be in line for a coronary…read morepretty quickly. The food is great though. All very simply prepared. The chicken is juicy with insanely good crispy skin. The pork ribs melt in your mouth. The plantains are golden and the Yuca takes garlic to a new level. As a bonus, the food is also a bargain. To get four people completely full, plus 2 soda's, 2 beers and a Pina Colada was $36.

It was one of those places where everyone at the table was happy with their meal. I ordered churrasco with mofongo and it was delicious and juicy with an incredible garlic sauce. The staff was also incredibly friendly and attentive. From the moment we walked in, they made us feel welcome and checked on us throughout our meal. A huge plus was the parking, it had private parking, which isn't always the case when you're traveling around the island. The only thing I'd mention is that the restaurant is outdoors and doesn't have AC, so it can get pretty warm. But honestly, once the food came out and we settled in, it wasn't a big deal. Overall, we had a really nice experience and would definitely come back. Good food, great people, and a relaxed atmosphere. If you're in the area, it's worth checking out! 10/10

Very disappointing experience at Buena Vibra in Joyuda. We waited over an hour for our food. When…read moremy churrasco finally arrived, it was raw even though I ordered it medium. I told the waiter, and she said she was sorry but refused to take it back and told me I still had to pay for the plate even though I didn't eat it. After that, I ordered an appetizer cause I though it will be serve faster, the appetizer "goyitos", came out extremely dark, looked burnt, and tasted burned. When I pointed it out, the waiter said they're supposed to be like that. Between the long wait, undercooked food, and the way everything was handled, the customer service was terrible. This place was recommended by family and I regret coming. I won't be back and I won't recommend it.

We were also addicted to the parcha lemonade. That is a must-order. The empanadillas are awesome and I couldn't get enough of the pork (Order the mofongo with broth and fried pork!) Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience. After placing my order, I waited…read moreapproximately 44 minutes for my food to arrive. When the Churrasco Mofongo ($27.99) finally came out, the portion size was surprisingly small and did not reflect the price at all. For nearly $28, I expected a much more substantial serving and better overall value. What made the experience even more frustrating was that I also ordered four pastelitos at $2.99 each, and those ended up providing more food and better value than the $27.99 Churrasco Mofongo. It's hard to justify paying nearly $28 for an entrée when a few appetizers totaling less than half the price leave you feeling like you received more for your money. To make matters worse, the staff was largely inattentive throughout the visit. It was difficult to get anyone's attention, there were no updates regarding the long wait, and customer service felt like an afterthought, only because the question "Can I have an update on my order" was asked to the staff. A 44-minute wait can be understandable during busy times, but keeping customers informed goes a long way, especially when multiple families sat, ate, and left before receiving the order. Overall, despite the churrasco mofongo tasting really good, between the excessive wait time, the lack of attentiveness from staff, and the disappointing portion size, I left feeling that the meal was not worth the price. I hope management takes a closer look at both the service and the value being provided to customers.
