Review for The Intoxicated:…read more Is it 2 AM? Are you in the Highlands? Are you tipsy and walking home or to a nearby friend's place? Well... this review is for you. (Calm down sober people. I'll get to what you want to know in a minute). You've left one of the many bars in this area of the Highlands. You're fine but you can easily feel a headache coming on that will most likely kill you tomorrow. You can't drive anywhere. Nothing else is open. What you need is a chilled and delicious Gatorade (G2 preferably for the calorie conscious). This convenient store is your lifesaver(if you want these too, they're also available in the candy section). Like any convenient store, you can pick up a variety of snacks... even Krispy Kreme donuts! They also have a bathroom in case that donut isn't staying down. You're already thinking ahead with hydrating on your walk before bed. Why not think further ahead and pick up some donuts or packaged pastries for breakfast when you wake up? We all know you're going to feel awful in the morning. If you're of the belief that the best medicine for a hangover is by drinking more, you can do that too. They have a beer cooler here if that's your mission. Review for The Sober: This is a decent convenient store. You can buy gas here but I wouldn't encourage it. At this intersection, it tends to be more expensive. That might change if the proposed Thorntons goes in at Baxter/Broadway. This convenient store is close to where I live, close to places I go, and it's a great place to be in and out. I've seen it busy and the clerks always get everyone through and out the door. In short: -- 4 stars for the convenience -- Subtracting a star for the higher than average gas prices

Yes, I'm reviewing a gas station. Get over it…read more With the recent buyout of Thornton's, the overall blahness of Speedway, and the who-knows-what-you'll-get visiting a Circle K, the local Mapco's really standout above the other convenience stores. From my experience, all the Mapco Louisville stores are clean, well-organized, and well-staffed. The gas pumps are easy to navigate with plenty of room between rows. They offer a 90-Octane mid-grade unleaded with no ethanol which is a plus for those of us who believe adding ethanol to gasoline is just a bit stupid when fuel supplies are fine and refining corn to ethanol is just costly. Also, the Chester's Chicken & More located in each Mapco serves the best chicken tenders in town. Granted, best to get them fresh so you need to come by during the lunch or dinner hours and the cook station is not always open, but really, they put the Zaxby's located beside the station to shame. The tenders are huge, juicy and paired with some of their dipping sauces, just plain good. I've also had a couple of their hot dogs from this location, too, which are some of the best dogs around. Served in a few different ways, from Chicago-style, to Memphis-style, or as a chili dog, they air fry the hot dog so it's not off a roller and it has the crispness on the skin as if they were grilled. They're huge, too, so one will usually more than satisfy. My one minus is the fountain machine, it's one of those Coca-Cola touchscreen models, and I hate those damn things.

This gas station does the trick, and usually has a few cars in it, but still has a few pumps available. It has fairly average prices for the region, and the guy inside was friendly enough.
