We hired Anthony Brooks to remodel our master bath, bedroom, powder room and launder/mud room. He completed approximately 3 half days of demolition and left the job. We paid &75,000.00 and he wanted more money. The entire thing was a scam as far as I can tell. I personally have had 7 other people contact me stating he did this to them as well. I had 2 of his previous employees tell me he owes them money as well. You would need a team of attorneys should you hire this person. Go to Las Vegas instead, you might have a chance there. We ended up hiring Jon Sandvig of Sandvig Construction in Eau Claire, WI and he came in did the clean up and remodel. A wonderful contractor and his team was polite, professional and fabulous. Top quality in every category you can think of. Hire him! Now he gets 5 stars! (Do not hire Brooks--careful he might be working under a new name)

We hired BHR to do a remodel of 2 bathrooms, laundry room, install new interior doors, some trim…read morework, and a special project for the laundry room. We did substantial research prior to hiring them and read as many online reviews that we could find. Unfortunately , their work and management was nothing like what was advertised . We experienced many issues and they appeared right from the start. These issues include but are not limited to the following: -Assigning/hiring qualified people for given tasks of the project. -Communication/scheduling workers for the project. There were many days and even weeks that no work was done. -Product quality issues such as doors needing to be sent back multiple times and in the end, still weren't right. -New floors in both bathrooms having parts ripped up and relaid due to improper installation . -Wrong measurements of both showers resulting in walls having to be built out on existing walls. -Poor painting and drywall work. -Mishandling of custom piece for laundry room project resulting in us having to redo the majority of it ourselves. -Incorrect size strike plates on new doors that we had to replace ourselves due to the fact that they were hitting the new trim. -Bathroom ductwork made of shiny tape and cardboard. We would like to note here that it is customary and also in our contract to have a final walkthrough to note and discuss the finished project and address any concerns. We were not given that opportunity . In addition to these quality control issues, there were significant failures in the management of our project and their customer service when these issues were addressed. There was no real responsibility taken for the issues and when issues were brought up, the response was often borderline hostile and combative and seemed to be placing blame on us. Additionally , our project started mid January and was supposed to be at least habitable by March 1st. It was not and went months past what we were told and was all due to their in-house delays. Given that we were out of the house for a month and a half for them to be completely unhindered for this project, we were taken aback time and time again by their responses to our frustration with the constant time delays. Management stated that these issues were not normal and the our project was a "perfect storm" of events. While we appreciate that they acknowledged the situation , they really did nothing to actively rectify or prevent similar problems from arising during the rest of the project. With all of this, we have had to cover additional costs in both time and money due to the many mistakes made by this company, many of which could have been avoided if there had been proper communication and management from the beginning . So for these reasons and many more, we would NOT recommend this company. We did not receive the service, workmanship , or quality promised by this company.

I got an initial estimate for work from them for $32K. That seemed steep, but since State Farm was footing all but $4K (my deductible), I moved forward with Rock & Tait. My wife had them fix something on her farm 15 years earlier and he was happy with their service. How times change. Over the course of the repairs the price kept climbing. (I have no real idea why.) But I worked with Rock and Tait and State Farm to get the gap covered. I turned over all the insurance checks to them and thought we had negotiated everything in good faith. The final tally, I believed was $38K. Yesterday they surprised me with an email with a bill attached stating I owed them another $11K. The siding portion of the bill went from $7K on the estimate to suddenly being $15.5K. That was for one side of my home, and the face of my garage (not a big area). The work took 4 hours and yet for some reason the bill went up 125% overnight without an explanation. The amount to the gutter replacement went up 35% without additional explanation. The cost of the garage door went up 25% without explanation. The roof, which was estimated at $15K went up to $22K. That is almost a 50% increase. I don't know why. Now they want $11K more when it sounds to me like I should be getting some money back for work that took 9 months to get complete. I would love to hear from other people in Altoona, WI who went with them for repairs in 2025-2026. It seems like most that I know of have a story like this. Gouging people at a time when they need help is simply disgusting and I hope someone looks into their business practices. BTW - we need a rating system that doesn't force you to give even 1 star to someone who treat people in need this way. Eric Berg 2/18/2026

Our projects New Roof/Blown Insulation/ 2 bathroom remodels /Exterior Doors/KitchenBathroom floor…read moreremoval/New exterior trim windows doors/ miscellaneous electrical and plumbing/ Drywall work From start to finish was a horrible experience. Way overpriced there people are installers zero crafmanship. Everything we had them do was crap work and we had to have one employee removed from the project because he was getting mouthy with my wife. Here are couple issues out of many others we had. Didn't protect hardwood steps during wreckout Causing damage. Installed exterior door probably only 10% of door was adequately insulated only reason I discovered this is they put trim on backwards so I fixed it myself and discovered the deficiencies. New interior trim doors windows wow they couldn't get a tight miter they filled joints with a filler compound. And they back into are shed damaging rain gutter which they replaced but I just recently discovered they reused the roof hangers but on a bunch didn't reuse existing holes in steel leaving old holes exposed to water getting in roof. They where also supposed to replace all our concrete but we pulled that from them based on all the issues we had. This is a short list of many things that they got wrong. HORRIBLE COMPANY

The stored my heavy glass storm door in its frame on it's side and hinges on rough uneven landscaping rock in full sun all day for 6 days. I took it for granted that they must know what they're doing. Was I wrong. They re-hung the door leaving over a 1/2 inch gap on the open side exposing the latch, which was barely catching, so didn't really stay closed. Their answer to fix this was to loosen a few screws on that side of the frame so it would shift towards the door. So, the frame is loose, a good yank and it would all come down and the gap was still over 3/8 inch. I called again. They don't return calls or respond to emails. I finally took time off without pay and had to to go the office. They came a 2nd time. Tightened the screws they loosened and adjusted it from the hinge side. Sure, the gap is acceptable, but now the door handle butts up against the door jamb. I have to use the handle to lift up the door to work the lock and open and close the door. Chris, the owner, tells me it's an old door and I didn't purchase it through them so he basically isn't going to do anything. He has insulted me and shown me disrespect at every turn. Treating me like I'm a stupid and know nothing about hanging a door. Actually, I do and have hung doors in the past. Too old and have arthritis now though. Remember above, I stated how they store it after THEY removed it. I did some research and found out that will damage the door frame causing it to warp and also damage the hinges causing issues like sticking and difficulty opening and closing the door. As soon as they removed it and stored it, it became their responsibility to ensure it wasn't damaged and that they re-hung t correctly afterwards. I didn't expect it to hang like a brand new door, but I do expect it to work properly as it did before they touched it. They also have to fix a couple of pieces of siding which were hung badly and hanging half off, which I noticed a few days after they finished. It wasn't due to any storm damage either. Lesson learned. I paid a lot of money for a professionalism, but surely didn't get it. Don't get me wrong the foreman for my job was great. The rest not so much and Chris, well I won't say what I think of him. I will never recommend them and will go out of my way to tell people to steer clear of them solely because of Chris.

We hired this company to remodel a bathroom, and the process was problematic from start to finish. What should have been a straightforward project took nearly one year from start to finish. We received quote and put down deposit in March 2025. After that, communication essentially stopped. Call went unanswered and unreturned until late June. Then again heard very little until September. The lack of responsiveness throughout the project was extremely frustrating. I strongly advise anyone considering this company to read their quote carefully. We specifically asked for a tiled shower but ended up with solid wall panels instead. That was not what we expected. There were also significant workmanship and coordination issues: - the toilet was removed and flooring completed. He screwed up replacing toilet, we ended up waiting 10 days for a plumber to come and repair it - another toilet removed and flooring completed. Same person, replaced toilet incorrectly and we had water leaking into the basement - a large amount of water was discovered in the basement when they were removing the old shower/tub with chaotic clean up - we received no meaningful design assistance and were offered very limited product option - communication was consistently poor and often dismissive from Dave, Jason and Chris Every step of the process had issues, from quoting and communication to execution. I cannot recommend the company based on our experience.
