CS Construction installed new siding in fall of 2025. Initially the work was going very well and I was satisfied until they said it was complete. The stored my heavy glass storm door in its frame on it's side and hinges on rough uneven landscaping rock in full sun all day for 6 days. I took it for granted that they must know what they're doing. Was I wrong. They re-hung the door leaving over a 1/2 inch gap on the open side exposing the latch, which was barely catching, so didn't really stay closed. Their answer to fix this was to loosen a few screws on that side of the frame so it would shift towards the door. So, the frame is loose, a good yank and it would all come down and the gap was still over 3/8 inch. I called again. They don't return calls or respond to emails. I finally took time off without pay and had to to go the office. They came a 2nd time. Tightened the screws they loosened and adjusted it from the hinge side. Sure, the gap is acceptable, but now the door handle butts up against the door jamb. I have to use the handle to lift up the door to work the lock and open and close the door. Chris, the owner, tells me it's an old door and I didn't purchase it through them so he basically isn't going to do anything. He has insulted me and shown me disrespect at every turn. Treating me like I'm a stupid and know nothing about hanging a door. Actually, I do and have hung doors in the past. Too old and have arthritis now though. Remember above, I stated how they store it after THEY removed it. I did some research and found out that will damage the door frame causing it to warp and also damage the hinges causing issues like sticking and difficulty opening and closing the door. As soon as they removed it and stored it, it became their responsibility to ensure it wasn't damaged and that they re-hung t correctly afterwards. I didn't expect it to hang like a brand new door, but I do expect it to work properly as it did before they touched it. They also have to fix a couple of pieces of siding which were hung badly and hanging half off, which I noticed a few days after they finished. It wasn't due to any storm damage either. Lesson learned. I paid a lot of money for a professionalism, but surely didn't get it. Don't get me wrong the foreman for my job was great. The rest not so much and Chris, well I won't say what I think of him. I will never recommend them and will go out of my way to tell people to steer clear of them solely because of Chris. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience needs to be shared so others know what to expect. We hired this company to remodel a bathroom, and the process was problematic from start to finish. What should have been a straightforward project took nearly one year from start to finish. We received quote and put down deposit in March 2025. After that, communication essentially stopped. Call went unanswered and unreturned until late June. Then again heard very little until September. The lack of responsiveness throughout the project was extremely frustrating. I strongly advise anyone considering this company to read their quote carefully. We specifically asked for a tiled shower but ended up with solid wall panels instead. That was not what we expected. There were also significant workmanship and coordination issues: - the toilet was removed and flooring completed. He screwed up replacing toilet, we ended up waiting 10 days for a plumber to come and repair it - another toilet removed and flooring completed. Same person, replaced toilet incorrectly and we had water leaking into the basement - a large amount of water was discovered in the basement when they were removing the old shower/tub with chaotic clean up - we received no meaningful design assistance and were offered very limited product option - communication was consistently poor and often dismissive from Dave, Jason and Chris Every step of the process had issues, from quoting and communication to execution. I cannot recommend the company based on our experience. read more

I requested an estimate spring 2023 after seeing the CS Construction booth at the 2023 Eau Claire Home and Garden Show. On 3/24/23 we met with Marty Koleno from CS Construction, showed him the project we were interested in having done (adding a garage, mudroom and laundry room to our home). He agreed this was exactly the type of project CS Construction was interested in doing. Next we scheduled to meet with him on 4/11/23. Marty couldn't make that meeting so we rescheduled that meeting to 4/13/23. On 4/13/23 he discussed our plans further and mentioned taking measurements so he could put together our plans. He said he'd reach out sometime the following week to schedule the next meeting. He didn't reach out or respond to our messages for a week and ultimately scheduled a meeting with us for 5/1/23. At the meeting on 5/1/23 he indicated he forgot to take measurements at the last meeting, so he would be spending this meeting taking measurements and then he'd get to work on drawing up our plans. He said we should contact him in a week to schedule our next meeting. I waited three weeks, contacted him and we scheduled our next meeting for 6/2/23. On 6/2/23 Marty never showed up for the meeting and didn't call or text to let us know he wouldn't be making it. When I called CS Construction office, the person who answered the phone said Marty was in the office. When Marty answered his office phone he indicated he forgot to put our meeting on the calendar and wasn't able to come to our meeting, so we rescheduled the meeting for 6/6/23. On 6/6/23 we went over the plans he had drawn up but we still had not been provided with an estimate. After that meeting, Marty quit returning our calls/texts. In August I called the office to ask if there was someone else available to give us an estimate. Up to this point they had so much time invested in our project, I thought they'd have interest in seeing it through. The person who answered the phone said she would talk to the Owner and have him contact me. It's now the end of October and we've had no contact with anyone from CS Construction. We were up front with Marty that our project would likely be started in 2024. We were interested in knowing the cost of the project, knowing it could change in the next 9 months, but we wanted to plan our finances accordingly. After taking time away from work to meet with Marty FIVE times and to have nothing to show for it has been frustrating. I obviously cannot comment on the quality of work CS does. With their poor communication and unreliability, I can't imagine doing business with them in the future. read more

CS Construction managed our remodel project. They installed the new siding on our house, all new Richlin Windows, and a master bedroom and bathroom remodel. Brian was amazing to work with on the exterior project. He was very conscientious and talked to us throughout the project to make sure it was done the way we wanted it. We love the final product and now will have little maintenance to keep up the house exterior. Though space was minimal, CS staff helped us to devise a workable plan to get the storage we wanted in our master bedroom without adding onto the house. We got additional closet space in our master bedroom that we needed, a beautiful walk-in shower, and bathroom update. Jon and his crew did a nice job with the interior remodel. I had the displeasure of trying to work with CS construction. I was very impressed on day one with Marty. He was very nice and transparent. Told me everything I wanted to hear. I was really looking forward to working with his team because they sounded great. And it went downhill from there. Aug 1st- first visit Sep 2nd- was supposed to come for a second visit but was "sick". I'm assuming he wanted to start the long holiday weekend, early. Sep 6th- was supposed to contact me about rescheduling but didn't Sep 7th- I said please stop wasting my time, I don't have time for this. Sep 8th- came for the second visit to go over more details Sep 12th- was supposed to contact me about visiting with his plumber and electrician Sep 13th- did not respond when I reached out Sep 15th- did not respond when I reached out Sep 17th- told Marty- if you don't have time for this project you need to tell me and stop wasting my time Sep 22nd- came over with electrician and plumber Sep 29th- did not respond when I reached out Oct 3rd- did not respond when I reached out Oct 4th- finally responded by saying he will call me (Oct 6th) with some numbers Oct 6th- did not reach out Oct 10th- did not respond when I reached out Oct 13th- just told me sorry we don't have the time or the manpower to take this on read more

This was my first experience with CS Construction as my regular remodel/update contractor has retired. We had several projects that needed to be done which spanned the gamut from installation of a large pass-through window, adding an eyebrow/overhang on a garage, enhancing our attic insulation, and re-roofing the main 2-story home and large outbuilding on the property. We were concerned about potential damage as the back side of the home has extensive landscaping and is a full 3 stories off the ground. CS did a great job protecting our current investment during shingle removal and made sure everything was cleaned up at the end of each workday. I appreciated the "BuilderTrend" website which is a primary communication tool CS uses to stay current with project progress and to flag any concerns the client may have. It was obvious that this site is monitored constantly as I always received prompt responses from any entries I made there. It is an effective way to communicate and has the benefit of downloading pictures of items under discussion. All projects were completed with the quality I expect from professional builders. I am a bit picky when it comes to work done on my main home but felt comfortable openly discussing anything that I had questions about. Dan (original estimator), Ben (our assigned project manager), Chris (CS owner), and "Little James" (our roofing foreman) always demonstrated the utmost respect in our dialog no matter what the topic. Further, ALL of the CS employees were very friendly and respectful despite some unpleasant conditions (heat & humidity) they faced daily. All in all we are quite satisfied with the outcome. I think people should always take the "# of stars" in these ratings with a grain of salt. What is a 5 star job for someone may not be for someone else. A 5-star rating from me means EVERYTHING went perfectly as expected without intervention, and frankly there is rarely a job of this magnitude where everything does. As the 4-star rating states "Yay! I'm a fan." is pretty accurate. Any issues that did surface were promptly addressed by those assigned to my project or Chris himself. All in all I have no reservations recommending CS Construction for your project and will definitely use them again for subsequent work I have. read more

Requested a quote to enclose our back deck. Person arrived from C&S and looked at the area. Said he didn't know how they would attach to existing roof took couple of measurements and would come back with someone to look at project again to give a price. Would have price to us in 2 weeks. That was beginning of June. Waited to July and called office. Office person very pleasant and apologized and told us she would get to the guy and finish quote. Never heard another thing from them. If project was to small for them in these times I understand that but at least could of have the decency to call and let us know it wouldn't work for them. Also the person sent out I don't think had much experience in estimating. Never looked under the deck to see how it was supported and if it would even take being enclosed. I've seen there finish work and was excited to see what they came up with. Now I would not recommend them to anyone. Not because of their finish work but because of their beginning work. read more

Working with Chris was truly effortless. He was extremely easy to reach, responded promptly, kept me informed as to when his team would be able to reroof my home as well as provide some repair of wood trim and siding. They showed up as promised, cleaned up immaculately every day and were very respectful and polite workers. I also needed an estimate for some work at a commercial site and Chris provided that and additionally came to a necessary meeting for that property. C.S. Construction did an amazing job on my roof. I recently purchased an older house that has a lot of valleys and peaks. They worked with me to help keep the costs down and even offer financing options. It only took them 3 1/2 days to complete my roof once they started. I was shocked at how fast they finished, considering how complicated and large my roof is. It looks great and they even offer a 50 year warranty. Can't speak about the work or the price. They came out to measure for an estimate and never contacted after that. I called and never got a response. If you aren't worth their time, they simply ignore and forget about you. Have to question how reliable they would be even if they did provide a quote or say that they would do the work. read more
