The only reason it isn't a one, is because if you are self contained (not using their bathroom) and not having to ever speak to management, it is like any other campground. Management is very passive aggressive when they speak to you. The electrical boxes are outdated and do not include 20 amp plugs (every single other campground we have been to has had 20 amp plugs). The showers were horrendous!! I will attach pictures of the showers for you, as they are truly disgusting (I am not referring to the water stains from well water, I am referring to the true dirtiness). When you step in the shower, they have a mat on the floor and you can here dirt crunch under your feet the entire time. I truly believe they have NEVER rinsed under the mat. Once they decide to be a bit more friendly and a whole lot cleaner, they will be much better off.

It's high season for campgrounds during this time of year with everyone trying to enjoy remaining summer days and finding a good spot may pose a challenge. My girlfriend called Turtle Run and the stuff got us quickly on the books. The campground is located on the banks of Wading River and you totally get that feel that you are in the woods. Heck, I even did not have any cell coverage! For those like me looking for a way to unplug and enjoy getting back to nature consider this a great spot. Closest shopping center is half an hour away. The campground is well run and organized. A few amenities worth mentioning: - clean bathhouses (restrooms, showers) - on-site laundry - games and fun activities for kids and adults - deli offering delicious meals Accommodations vary and range from a tent site, to trailers and cabins. We stayed in a "primitive" trailer, which was $90/night and it totally hit the spot. Ample room for two people along with your personal picnic table, fire ring, grill, and a parking spot. You can buy wood from them for $5 a bundle which is a good deal.

The owner and the staff truly care about the campground and the experience of the campers! The campground is clean. The bathrooms are cleaned twice a day- and really looked after! Campsites are groomed before you pull in. There are activities each weekend, beach passes available to LBI (only 15 minutes away), the pool is great, play areas and activities for kids and teens! There also is a camp store, snack bar and laundry room! We will definitely return!

I called in a couple days before to ask about the number of tents allowed per plot and was informed only one, so we purchased a bigger tent for this reason. I couldn't find this information anywhere on their webpage and thought the number of people staying in the tent is not important. This led to a negative experience checking in, we ended up paying for a second plot because we were 7 people, so we exceeded by 1 headcount according to the lady checking us in, I believe she is the owner. I couldn't find any write ups proofing that this is true. Feel like we payed to much without knowing if we really needed to. Luckily we had a second tent and two people out of our group stayed at that second plot. Overall great experience and I would stay again, staff was very friendly. Again, would be a simple task to update the information on the webpage, especially for first time campers like me this would be a great improvement.

Our group booked a two-hour tour for six people. We wound up having extra and had cash to pay him afterwards for the extras. About 15 minutes after leaving the dock, weather moved into the area and the captain made the decision to turn around and return everyone safely to shore. It was terrifying. We crashed into a dock, were drifting around corners. We were unsafe in a lightening storm on the water. We were back on land and in our cars within 40 minutes of the scheduled trip start, and we ended up not getting any of the experience we paid for. What we did get was a terrifying return to dock. Despite that, we still tipped the captain approximately $150 because we appreciated his efforts in getting everyone back safely. If you ask me, that squall was close enough to see on the radar and we never should have left the marina. We were also not given any safety instructions other than "stand at the back of the boat so I can go faster". Following the trip, I contacted the owner and requested a refund since rescheduling was not possible for our group. Half of our party lives out of state, and coordinating the original date was difficult enough. After the first bit of pushback, I specifically asked that all communication remain in writing so there would be a clear record of the discussion. What happened next is why I am leaving this review. A situation that could have been handled professionally and amicably became unnecessarily hostile. During the dispute I was called an "asshole" and a "scam artist" over the phone after previously requesting that communications remain in writing. The refund was eventually issued in full, but the refund documentation I received contained the word "Cunt" in the refund notes. Weather happens. Tours get canceled. Customers ask for refunds. None of that is unusual. What is unusual is the way a repeat customer was treated after spending money with this business for three consecutive seasons. The problem was never the storm. The problem was the response afterward. If you choose to book here, I strongly recommend considering how disagreements might be handled if something goes wrong.

Rude staff, well , when they are there. The guests are expected to babysit the campground so management can do whatever until they get a call that something is wrong. Store is quite often locked and people have to push a button and wait for someone to come, provided someone is there. So sad it could be a nice place.
