The coaches are so motivational and encouraging, they meet you where you're at and challenge you to put your best effort in. The workouts really get you sweating. Its a mix of treadmills, water rowers, and synergy station (body weight, weights, trx, and terracore station). I never though my heart rate could increase while weight training but I'm in the fat burning zone most of the time. Lastly what makes this gym awesome is the saunas! The personal sauna's promote healing and are super relaxing. You can use it individually or with a friend or two. You can even bluetooth your music to them. Overall I've loved my experience with Red Effect, I only wish they'd open more locations!

After playing 3 times a week for a couple months, I went to play at 8PM on court #1. Me and my mother saw a group tennis lesson of around 12 kids and 2 or 3 pro's (non of them wearing masks). The prior month there the rule was everyone wear masks up until you get on the court (since tennis is a socially distant sport). Around 8:30 the tennis pro from court 3, inturepted our game to mask shame us when she was 2 courts apart. Now I encourage mask wearing, I was simply not aware of the rules since this lady let 12 kids play with no masks and singled me and my mother out. It would have been real nice if someone on the staff politely notified us of the change of policy, and enforced ti to everyone around, not just me and my mother playing 2 courts away. I cancelled my membership, I told my friends to cancel there's as well. The lady on court #3 from 8-9PM on 11/17/20 singled us out and shamed us when we had no idea the rules just changed. I cannot believe the lack of educate, professionalism, and equality at this low end tennis club. I would love to speak to a manager, I left early cancelled my membership after they stole my $30 for the hour for the court. TRUST ME DO NO GO HERE!!!!!!!! THEY TREAT MEMBERS LIKE THEY DON"T BELONG RUDE & NEGLIGENT STAFF UNORGANIZED UNPROFESSIONAL & INCOMPETENT RULES ONLY APPLY TO THOSE NOT PAYING FOR LESSONS OR LEAGUES (which don't seems very competitive, they have league titles hanging from 2014)

The coaching staff has continuously pushed me from the beginning while keeping me safe. They make sure the weight is heavy enough to challenge me but realistic for my level of experience. I have always enjoyed the gym but after several months of watching my overall fitness progress, I'm a believer in CrossFit alpha dog. I have no intention of leaving this gym and am even doing a competition next month. I would recommend this gym to anyone that enjoys hard workouts, great coaching, and a welcoming environment. Crossfit alpha dog has taken one commonality in every member and turned it into something more than just a gym. It's a second home.

Here is the long and short of it- you will not find a better CrossFit total fitness experience then…read moreat AlphaDog. It's not an accident that it's the fittest gym in Illinois for CrossFit training. Working out side-by-side with ranked athletes is a huge inspiration. In my opinion, every other box is a distant second. Read on if you want to know why I feel that way... I've been a member here now for just over two years. But my CrossFit journey started before AlphaDog. CrossFit has changed the entire way I approach training. It has helped me to lose weight and get healthier. As a man in my 40s I'm not looking to win competitions or be the strongest in the room. But this whole style of working out has been remarkable. But it's amazing what you will put up with until you truly find something special. That's where AlphaDog comes in. I had been a member of a neighboring CrossFit gym for a couple of years and made some very good strides. Some might feel it doesn't take much to run a CrossFit box. Certainly the last place I went to felt that way. It was never clean. The equipment was deteriorating. All it really had was a good community. I was encouraged to check out AlphaDog. I heard many good things but was reluctant to make a change. From the day I started at AlphaDog, Andrew and Mike, the two owners, made me, my wife and daughter feel welcome. But what becomes very evident is the care that is taken to really program solid WODs every day. Strength training that builds on itself, not just day after day, but week after week, month after month. It is like none other that I have experienced. As for the facility, the place is always clean. The equipment is well-maintained. The classes are well run and organized. We brought someone to try it one time, and they said that they felt like everyone here looks like superheroes. Funny, many of the members do. But it is inspiring to see. They're more than happy to help and encourage. The coaching staff is excellent. And they will adjust the workout to any level. Andrew, in particular, is really attuned to what everyone is able to do. He will adjust my workout before I even ask. It's pretty incredible how well he remembers what just about everyone can do or is struggling with. That's pretty unusual. It's obvious they care about people's health and safety. When CrossFit is approached in this manner, I feel it is one of the safest and best ways to work out. I suppose it's like anything else. You will get out of it what you put into it. But I personally owe the staff and the management at AlphaDog a big "Thank You". Down 60 pounds with 20 more to go and my muscle mass increasing, I never thought I can get to where I am now. No one paid me to write this. I'm a business owner myself. Nothing makes me more satisfied , business-wise, than when one of my clients feels happy about their experiences. I think AD needs to know that they are doing a great job. And their strides to improve every day are evident. Keep it up!!! Thanks Andrew, Mike, Seth, Anthony and the rest of the AD staff....I type this as I recover from Murph

It's by far one of the most affordable gyms around with friendly staff, professional trainers, excellent classes, a great selection of machines, equipment and facilities including pool, steam and sauna. Lately, however, some negatives have been marring the overall experience. VASA did a massive membership drive/upgrade at the end of 2025 which has increased foot traffic dramatically. It's rare to visit now and not have a wait to use machines (especially treadmills). And speaking of treadmills, there are currently 3 treadmills out of order, and it appears that 1 or 2 are missing, given the spacing in the first row of machines. My second and bigger criticism is the subpar housekeeping, specifically the men's locker room toilets. There has been an ongoing issue with at least one toilet being clogged by paper and waste. And often multiple stalls with no toilet paper. There has been one stall marked "out of order" for a week. Yesterday and today there was another toilet clogged, and the other two stalls with no paper. Other times I've seen toilets clogged and water that has overflowed. Really disgusting to walk through that! Overall, I give this gym 4 stars for equipment and facilities offered. Sadly, they deserve 1 star for maintenance and housekeeping.
