If Heaven ain't a lot like Piggly Wiggly, well I don't want to go! Actually, I think PW is probably one of the last holdovers of the classic Souther grocery stores. Everyplace else has been made to mimic a WalMart as much as possible. PW has stuck to their roots and offer brands and items you'd never see in a larger chain. While PW is a larger company, they support local products, so you find items here from local farmers and companies. You're not going to find Organic here, but you'll definitely find Local at least. read more

Walmart Supercenter

The Walmart in Pembroke NC is by far the worst one my family and I has stopped at. The managers and…read moreworkers are the worst. They messed up on my orders they would not fix it nor refund me plus having the worst attitude. They have so many complaints yet nobody is doing anything bout it. They even messed up my phone card, did not give me a receipt and would not look it up nor refund me with that as well. A worker there told me they have done that a lot with other customers also. I went to Walmart in lumberton and the manager there was the best. She was so helpful and so polite. She even said they got a lot of complaints bout the one in Pembroke. Will never go to the one in Pembroke again.

Most employees milling about, chatting with each other. They were nice enough to say hello, but none asked if they could help me, as I passed through the aisles. I initially came in to change out a flat tire, and window shopped as I waited. As for the choices of tires they had in stock for my Honda Civic; $44-$72 choices. Sounds good if there was a decent choice among them. They were sub par, but having a flat with only a doughnut to travel 450 miles to get home, I had no choice. I did see they carried Goodyear Eagles, if they only would fit my common provincial car. The good part about seeing no other customers meant no waiting, so my tire was replaced in 30 minutes.

Dry goods at the entrance leading to produce and then dairy coolers along the back with deli and then meats. We were going to go to Wendy's and decided to stop here instead. It was super easy to pick up a nice loaf of bread, some sliced cheese, some sliced turkey and even a couple of tomatoes. So now it's not just today's lunch, but tomorrow's lunch too! Easy, healthy and less expensive. Yes, ALDI gets a lot of its low cost from the shopping trolley thing and you need to bring your own bags or reuse theirs. And yes, you need to unload your groceries onto the belt properly so that the more delicate items are scanned last. That's on you. The store was a little bit less tidy than others and there was a queue at the register when they did not open a second. So yeah, it was good not great today. My mom likes the prices on veggies and fruits. I stop in whenever I'm near and just need a few things like tomatoes for a salad than going to a much bigger store. I got a couple things to try out. I LOVEEE the Cauliflower Dip with Pepper Jack Cheese. Looking forward to sharing some for New Years Eve spread. The biggest put off is the fact they don't have grocery bags because I always forget. Less grocery bags to have at the home though.
