Customer service is essential when servicing the public. Whether you like or dislike your position, you should always provide good customer service to ALL customers. If you dislike a certain group of people, always provide good customer service to ALL customers. The customers are the reason the business is open to provide employment. On December 22, 2021, I visited the Piggly Wiggly in Alexander City, AL. I encountered several friendly employees as I shopped throughout the store. However, the friendliness did not carry over the checkout. The checkout lines were filled except one. At the no line register stood a woman looking at her nails, not attentive to customers. I approached her and asked twice if she was open, no response. Then she motioned to the floor, as in "I'm open." I said hello and asked how was her day...she did no respond. I noticed her name tag read Alice. I said to her, Alice the weather is beautiful for this time of year...Alice did not respond. Alice loudly told me my total for my purchase. I quickly thought that hearing loss was the reason she did not respond. But, as I was paying for my purchase. An older guy walked up and Alice bagan talking to him about his three packs of bacon he had. Alice carried on a casual conversation in a normal tone with the guy until I completed my transaction. Alice gave me my receipt without any acknowledgement. Alice never said "good bye," "have a good day," or "Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays" to me. As I was walking out of the store, another cashier said Merry Christmas ma'am. Alice needs know and understand the importance of customer service to ALL customers. read more
