5 stars for subtle and stylish use of copper throughout the interior fit out. Yes, I adore copper…read morethat much. Copper accents aside, you might know the faces behind this new suburban cafe from their work at Dandelion & Driftwood just a suburb over. And while D&D is firmly entrenched in Brisbane's specialty coffee scene, Queen of Pops, with its aesthetically pleasing typography, feels like a more grown up D&D. She's chic and refined. It is clear attention to detail was given to every step of the cafe design. But you want the 411 on the coffee, pops and menu, right? Well, much like D&D, Queen of Pops operates on a tightly edited menu of cafe classic. Bagels, toasties and a selection of sweet treats. Yes, the baked cheese cake carries across and there's new additions like gingerbread biscuits in cute cutouts. The Pop in the name refers to their specially crafted coffee ice pops. They're made on a double ristretto and the beans are roasted by Peter Wolff himself. I tried my best to man up to a popsicle on this chilly Brisbane day but left it for another visit. Instead, my cafe chasing friend and I opted for traditional flat whites (all served in take-away cups) and a jam filled donut each. There's a small deck to enjoy your coffee from and blankets to wrap yourself in to ward of the winter winds. On a sunny day this will be the perfect spot to soak up some rays while plotting world domination. If you note the beer tap looking device on the counter next to the copper custom coffee machines you've found their on-tap nitro brewed tea and coffee. Adding these to the list for the next visit. With ample street parking in the side streets to this cafe, there's no excuse to leave the CBD and surrounds to venture to Clayfield and check out the newest member for this Brisbane Coffee Royal Family.

Queen of Pops is a little coffee bar from the same team as Dandelion and Driftwood. They have a small menu featuring bagels and a selection of sweets. I had banana bread and a latte (in a takeaway cup which incidentally I took home because I loved the branding). The banana bread was absolutely delicious and the coffee was packed full of flavour and warmth. It was a freezing Brisbane day so I only sat on their deck to quickly scoff my banana bread but in summer I feel like it will be an amazing spot to sit and try one of their signature coffee pops or nitro coffee. Absolutely somewhere I would revisit for a coffee and snack on the go.

They have over 20 flavours to choose from and I went with pistachio, cookies and cream, and passion fruit. I felt that I had won the jackpot because there is no taste testing here! The pistachio was just right- not too strong and nice and creamy. The cookies and cream had little chucks of cookies that were nice surprises within the vanilla. The passion fruit stole the show though. It was amazing. If you're into tart things like me, this is the one for you. I felt like I was eating happiness. You know when you get something and it's just right- this is what happens at Gelateria Milano. The flavours were bursting with awesomeness. Everyone was quiet at the table after tasting each other's flavours. I also tried strawberry, mango, panna cotta, coconut, guava, and blueberry. The strawberry, blueberry, and guava were also stand outs to me. Everyone was very pleased with their decisions and actually a little sad when we were finished with our gelato. If you're in Caloundra, be sure and visit this place. It's fantastic and I really wish they had one in Brisbane because I would go weekly.

Gelateria Milano - Chocolate rum sorbet!? Wonderful, creamy, not wanting for dairy. Totally worth a try, along with the great mint and ginger gelato.
