My 35 year old Winco industrial portable generator stopped producing power. I contacted PFP as one…read moreof the closest (about 50 miles away) Winco service techs for assistance with replacing diodes (an incorrect diagnosis from another tech). Paul stated the problem was far more likely bad capacitors and that the diodes could very likely still be serviceable. He was 100% correct. He helped with the diagnosis and talked me through the repair process. While it took me a while online to find replacement capacitors as I could not find a local supply store in Worcester, once the capacitors arrived and were installed I was back in full operation. I called Paul to thank him for his excellent advice and his time to help me resolve my generator problem. Shortly there after, Paul called back with additional unsolicited support regarding adjusting the throttle setting for cleaner power (Hz). Terrible electrician - after playing with all the wires and getting nowhere he tried to tell me…read morethat a control box that was not hooked up was causing the breaker to trip. When I questioned him how could something not connected do that - he stormed off mad saying I'm questioning him and I must know more than him. He left all the wires (he really did not know what he was doing) just hanging there disconnected - could not believe a licensed electrician would do something like that. I'm not sure he should be licensed anymore. I had a new electrician come today and they fixed the issue quickly (It was the timer which I had suggested to him) and all is working well again.

The charge included $135/hour times two for the lead electrician; $100/hour times two for the assistant; and a flat charge of $85 for his truck. If this was figured correctly, it would equal $545. A mistake must have been made to explain the $10 difference. The thermostat and the GFI circuit breaker charge was $284.59. The total was $819.59. I believe a cheaper option is available.
