Whilst were eating people constantly came streaming in, most had booked, but a lot came in on the off chance of a table. As it was our second works-do in two days and there were 14 of us, we plumped for the early bird/pre theatre menu - £12.90 for two courses. Friendly and efficient waitresses quickly took our order, using an electronic device to link your food and drinks order to your place at the table. A great idea, meaning your meal was delivered straight to you. Complimentary fresh bread as an aperitif was a nice touch. The starters quickly arrived, I had chosen the brioche with a creamy mushroom and bacon sauce, which was seriously full of flavour - a fantastic start. Just the right amount elapsed before we got our mains. I had chosen the steak with a mushroom and shallot sauce. Steak is not usually my first choice in a restaurant, but this steak was cooked to perfection and the accompanying sauce and salad, rounded off a great dish. Having a great night and having exhausted my two early bird courses, I just couldn't resist a dessert. Chocolate mousse and handmade shortbread did not disappoint! Le Bistro Pierre is a great restaurant, bustling and popular, but with great customer service, superb food and perfect course pacing.

The pre-theatre and lunch deals mean you can get a delicious three course meal for a lot less than a tenner - and I have yet to be disappointed. The menu changes regularly and there are a limited number of choices, but it's soooooo good! My favourite is the bread and butter pudding. Staff are friendly, helpful and professional - service is prompt without feeling rushed. Decor is quite rustic and simple - wooden floorboards etc. Toilets leave a bit to be desired, but otherwise it's top knotch.

A 2 star Michelin restaurant in Nottingham? Rooms, steps away from their restaurant? Oh no, would…read moreI be able to book dinner & a room with only a week's notice? The stars aligned and YES, I had a reservation (restaurant is open only 4 nights/week). Its tucked away on back roads near the River Trent. We arrived early and took a stroll for a couple hours around the river. Upon our return, we were immediately led to a perfectly cozy, quaint room. Outdoor patio seating, indoor seating area, cold water, fantastic tea & coffee, with fresh milk in the room were waiting along with a hot shower and plush towels. We were so comfortable, we were disappointed that we had to rush off for meetings. We returned for our 9pm dinner reservation. We arrived 15 minutes early for a cocktail. And then we were led to the table for our culinary adventure to begin. I have been to 2 star Michelin restaurant, Melisse and 3 star Michelin restaurant Per Se and each restaurant offers a unique experience. Sat Bains was elegant, yet casual and the only one to offer a room that was commensurate with the dining experience. Thus, its been our favorite experience. We opted for the 7 course tasting menu and added Duck Egg and Wine Pairings. The 7 courses included Scallop, Deer, Royal Kidney, Grouse, Chocolate and Blackcurrant. The wine pairings were a global experience, as well, with wines from Germany, Australia, Hungary, Uruguay, Argentina, New Zealand and California. Its always a challenge with an evening like this to not "tap out." We barely made it through, but loved the ability to schlepp to the comfort of our room. But it doesn't end there! In the morning, an incredible breakfast is provided in the atrium. Fresh orange juice, the BEST yogurt I had ever eaten, etc. After breakfast, I just wanted to go back to sleep, but alas, back to work. Finally, ALL staff was friendly, accommodating and we would love to return. An extraordinary experience.

Apparently the ketchup is of 1700s historical recipes brought back by Heston Blumenthal . LIke a Worcestershire sauce, it melded with the beef and egg, paired with Radikon 'Oslavje' from Friuli. -Brassicas, radishes, flowers, charred onion ash, and smoked Hollandaise. A signature off of his tasting menu, it was surprising that this was served after the protein but then the smoked elements with the ash maybe strong enough to mask the complexity of the former mushroom ketchup. I think I'd make a UK trip for the Olympics next year as an excuse to come and try more of his fare.

3/3/17 - Booked for 12 noon…read more We arrived a bit early by 15 minutes, and found someone, but was quite brusquely told that they didn't open until 12 noon. I said we hadn't got anywhere else to go as visiting Leicester for another purpose, and could we just take a seat and wait. Well, the door would have been closed if it hadn't been for maintenance work being carried out, we were told...... Not a good start. However, sat at a table for two.... Just mention that we've visited Bistrot Pierre several times in Birmingham, and also in Torquay, so we are somewhat "anciens patrons". Plus several stamps on the loyalty card.. So what did we have? Initial drinks: 175ml - Dry white wine for my wife - £3.95 Becks Blue for me - £2.95 Presented with some warm bread and (unsalted) butter - FOC. My wife had two courses - £10.95 Starter Pate & Chicken/Truffle Main I had three courses - £16.95 Whitebait for the starter with a garlic mayonnaise - Plenty of whitebait. The rump steak main (a supplement of £3.95) - which I found to be rather tough and grisly. (Also ordered a glass of 175ml Malbec - £6.50) Sweet - Crème Brulee - Which is always good. My wife felt that the ambiance of the Birmingham restaurant is better. Staff were friendly that eventually served us (not the person who greeted us). The food came at a steady pace. All reasonably priced menu. Wines can be a bit pricey. Turns out to be my son's favourite restaurant in Leicester.

Menu is fairly mainstream, but food is well prepared, and it offers an extremely well priced Menu Gastronomique typically two evenings per month. The service has always been very good, and deserves particular commendation for the willingness to adapt even the notionally fixed Menu Gastronomique if dinners have particular needs.
