We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of this hotel in the heart of historical Sultanahmet, Istanbul! We visited in February of 2014. Only about a five or ten minute walk from the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, etc. Prime location. The only time we needed to take any transportation other than walking was to/from the airport and when we went up north past Galata. The hotel is clean and beautiful! No, we didn't have a view. We looked out onto another building. Didn't care at all. We weren't there to sit in our hotel room and stare out the window! We were there to explore! The room was comfortable and clean. My only gripe was probably the strange bathroom addition. Definitely not an original item in our room. They basically installed two stalls. One for the toilet, one for the shower. If you're shy around your bunk mate, you might be uncomfortable going to the bathroom because you can hear it pretty well. But considering this appears to be a historical building with limited space to renovate, and how well they did adapting what they could, I can't complain too much. We had our own bathroom, and the toilet wasn't in the same space as our bed. I loved it.
The breakfast buffet was delicious. Plenty to choose from. Traditional European style choices and more. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Istanbul. I would come here again if I came back. read more
