Read as 4.49. Our friends Deborah and Jim recommended the Seven Hills Hotel to us. We spent four nights here before transferring to the Crowne Plaza Old Town to meet our cruise group. We left home early Monday morning and arrived in Istanbul about 4:30 PM Tuesday. We were driven to the hotel and arrived about 5:30. We were greeted warmly by Osman, told we had been upgraded to a suite and were offered wine or beer to drink. Tired as we were, we felt welcomed. I received a glass of red wine and Alan a dark beer. We were sent up to our room and our luggage followed. We unpacked minimally and collapsed into bed. No dinner, no nothing. I slept until around 6:00 the next morning. Alan got up around 9:00 to explore and came back to bed and slept until morning. The bed was very firm and comfortable, w/ a king size quilt covered in white cotton.
Our room was spacious, w/ windows on two sides looking out that the Four Seasons Hotel's lovely mustard colored walls. There was no way to close the bedroom off from the living room area but it was fine. A large table between the bed and armoire was perfect for setting up the laptop to take advantage of the free wifi, but there wasn't a plug close enough to plug in the computer so we had to recharge it when the battery ran low. The bathroom was spacious w/ maroon tile floors, a toilet w/ a loose seat, a bidet and a whirlpool bathtub w/ shower enclosure. The shower enclosure added about 6 inches to the height of the bathtub, making getting in and out a little scary. The lights over the sink had burned out, although the other lights and fan were working. We reported this the next morning but it took until the next day for them to be replaced.
Large bottles of water were left for us and replenished when we used them up. As happens often in European hotels washcloths are not provided automatically. In this case one was provided rather than two but we were able to get a second one, although it wasn't replaced the next day and we had to request another. One odd thing was that the king size coverlet was replaced the next day w/ a smaller one, too small for the bed and that was the size we had for the remainder of the stay. It worked as long as we stayed more toward the middle of the bed.
I have already described in my review of the restaurant the wonderful breakfasts and the amazing views from the dining areas. The elevator worked well, the staff were friendly and helpful and we were very grateful to the friends who had recommended the hotel. Our complaints are minor. The comfort and convenience were excellent. We were in easy walking distance of Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and the Blue Mosque and there were a multitude of good restaurants close by. There was a 10% saving by paying in cash. Were we to return to Istanbul unquestionably we would stay here. read more
