It was 35' outside when we first checked into this hotel. We were really happy with its location,…read moreso close to food, shopping, the train station and the water front. Even though you are in the heart of the city, the room was very quiet, but very small. The bathroom was also tiny and had a swinging door that swung into the bathroom so you had to step into the shower to swing the door open enough to get out of the bathroom. The toilet rocked back on forth on the floor when it was sat on and made terrible banging and crunching noises. When we tried to use the dual voltage receptacle in the bathroom, the 230 volt side did not work at all. When I went down stairs to inquire at reception if we could change rooms due to the broken items (AC, bathroom outlet, toilet), we were told absolutely not. I remarked that the room was unbearably hot and the thermostat on the wall had no markings to say what it was set at and it went round and round in both directions without doing anything. The young lady at reception remarked "That's impossible." I assured her it wasn't and invited her to come and see for herself. Of course, she refused, popped into a room behind the reception desk and promptly handed me an oscillating table top fan and said "that's all we can do, take it or leave it." The fact she had it so readily available tells me there may have been more fans in that room...... I took it. We went for a walk the next day and were out for most of the day on a walking tour. On our return we found the main sliding doors into the building were out of order and we had to enter through a small door to the side of the building. When we went to return to our 'sauna' suite, we found one of the elevators was also out of order. ?? The one redeeming item of this hotel other than the quiet room, was the breakfast. There was a really good variety of cereals, breads, pastries and crepes along with bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and the option to boil your own eggs. One day beans another boiled fingerling potatoes. The coffee was from a multi function machine, but it was good and hot. In all the breakfast was really good, but the breakfast was not good enough to compensate for the broken down, poorly designed hot, humid room with the bed as hard as a slab. Thankfully, we were in and out in two nights, and thoroughly enjoyed the city of Nice, despite the disappointing accommodations and service.

Hotel cancelled my reservation two weeks before arrival…read more I will not be staying at this hotel, which is disappointing. I booked in February 2015 for an October 2015 stay. I received an email from the travel booking site I used to make the reservation two weeks before my schedule arrival, advising that the hotel is saying that they are fully booked and will not honour my reservation. It is a very busy week in Cannes with a trade show, which is why I booked so far ahead. This leaves me in a terrible predicament with two weeks to go before arrival. Any comparable booking is going to cost me more than twice as much at this stage. Given how far in advance I booked, I can only assume that the hotel is taking advantage of the demand, and trying to cancel my reservation and to re-sell my room to someone who will pay a higher price. I think this is a despicable and shady business practice. I would encourage you to think twice about booking at this hotel since they seem to not honour their contracts. I entered into a good faith agreement with them via a travel website and was willing to pay the price listed. It seems very unfair and unprofessional to tell me now, so close to time of arrival, that they don't want to honour the booking. So book at your own risk, this hotel is unreliable at best.

We called the hotel immediately when we realized. We were told nothing was found but to call in the morning to speak with the management who is also in charge and can see who cleaned the room that day. That says that either the staff that cleaned the room didnt really clean the room allowing the next guest to take it....or that the staff steals things. All is really unacceptable for hotel etiquette. I spoke with the manager he seemed to be of little accommodating help acting he didnt know and the shirt just disappeared into thin air. He should have offered to have a word with his staff but just goes to show the honesty of the staff to for future refernce I would never stay again.

The room is nice and stylish with lovely wall art. Room had a capsule coffee machine and Kusmi tea. As for the cons, there was some things that were off including the bathroom only having a bar of soap and lotion, but no shampoo and conditioner. There were also some missteps with my experience with staff during my stay. Still, I think this is a nice hotel to stay at in Nice if you are looking for a stylish property.

There wasn't any housekeeping available so I had to change my sheets myself. I was in a group of 8 with two per room. The room I stayed in was the smallest layout from what I can tell, yet all the rooms cost the same. I wasn't able to get a pic of the room 107 before getting settled, but i wouldn't market it as a room for two if you bring more than carryon sized luggage. In order to fit into the room, we had to push the twin beds together. We then had to move furniture into the hallway. Even after doing that, everything was tight. I've stayed in European hotels before, but none as tight as this one. The room next door, which a couple of members of my group was staying in was noticeably bigger (room 108). Another member of my group was assigned a room where the air conditioner was broken and the room had an odor. It took two days for them to be moved to another room. They were constantly told the hotel was booked, yet people were still coming to check in. The room they were in was even bigger than the other two rooms and had a bigger bathroom and balcony located on the fourth floor. The staff members were friendly. I can't really speak on the buffet, because to me it's overpriced. If you can, walk down the street to one of the restaurants or bakeries for a quick meal. The bar is cute and the drinks are tasty.

We were pleasantly surprised and not just because it was a 180 degree turn around from our previous disaster at the aforementioned b&b. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating and helped us feel welcomed and at ease. This is very important since the festival is hectic and one seriously does not need any more additional drama outside of what must be tolerated at the festival. The room was clean, pleasantly decorated, and fairly large for a lesser star hotel. I liked the fact it had plenty of lights fixtures throughout it to provide varying levels of light throughout the day and evening. The bed was comfortable and the credenza was large enough to place all our things on. It also had a small refrigerator and freezer which came in handy since we were staying for another week. There was also a flat screen tv and phone in the room and free wi-fi. The rest of the unit consisted of a small hall with a wardrobe that separated the room itself from the bathroom. The bathroom was okay, although it could have used another shelf to put makeup and toiletries on, probably in place of the little stool that is quite unnecessary since it served no purpose and used up valuable space. The towels were clean and plenty and changed regularly - so were the shampoo, conditioner and soap. The shower head was good. The breakfast was nice, although it could offer more variation. But the breakfast room was quiet and provided a nice view out the back. There's also a little seating area just outside the doors to relax and enjoy the trees and birds. When mentioning that I forgot my phone adapter at home, the girl at the counter pulled out a large box of adapters! It was quite funny, but very useful for us. I like that kind of small touch. The walk to town was a bit, especially in heels and gowns, but, otherwise, not too far. The price was surprisingly reasonable - a real bonus considering it was so busy in Cannes at the time. Again, we were really lucky to get the room. I recommend Hotel Gallia if you're looking for a quaint place just a bit away from downtown.
