Pierre Cornelis Stadium is the home of the Belgian second division team, Eendracht Aalst. Although the team is now in the second tier, they have a great fan base and a trip to the stadium is well worth the trip.
The stadium holds just 7,500 fans but it is full of characters who produce a great atmosphere. When I was there, it was carnival weekend and all the crazy Aalsst men were dressed up like women! I was told that this wasn't a weekly occurence. But every week the fans are passionate and friendly to foreigners (like me) and being Flanders, lots of English is spoken.
The stadium is from 1928 but obviously has gone through some renovations over the past decades, but not too much where it lost the old time feeling.
Aalst is just a short distance from Brussels, so if you're in the capital and it's the weekend then check out Eendracht Aalst for a fun experience of soccer! read more
