On our last full day in Brussels (Friday April 5, 2024), we went to the Museum of Medicine, which is located on the Erasme campus of the Université libre de Bruxelles, a French-speaking research university. It was a 30 minute transit ride from our hotel, but it was quite easy to get to as there was a metro station right by the museum.
The museum is a smaller museum and we were there for about 1.5 hours (and I think we were the only visitors for most of that time), but there was quite a bit to see, and at €5 for adult admission, it was well worth the price.
The Museum of Medicine gave a good overview on the history of medicine and included exhibits about ancient Egypt, the Middle Ages, pharmacy, and the history of surgery, to name a few. The most gruesome exhibit was the wax figures showing various sexually transmitted diseases.
The Museum of Medicine isn't a fancy museum, but it was very interesting and it was the highlight of my trip to Brussels.
