One of the worst concert experiences if my life tonight. They overbooked the venue for Fontaines D.C, the entire atmosphere was hostile as people were trying to find places to stand. As a venue, you have one fecking job. Just sell tickets either as standing or seated. The seated tickets have numbers. Wow, so simple right? A MESS of a place, awful staff and security, people left scrambling half way through the concert. Disgusting and will not be back. read more

Went to go see my favorite artist perform here. The artist was amazing, but I had some issues with the venue. First, it is hard for tourists to get to the venue from Brussels. Since it is not located in Brussels there are only a few options to get to the venue. First, by car (either your own car or Uber/taxi). Second, public transportation. If you are a tourist and are unfamiliar with the public transportation, the only way to get to the venue is either through Uber or Taxi. The other issue I had was that the venue is outdated, it definitely needs to be updated. Another problem is that since the venue is outdated the acoustics were off. Perhaps if they venue were to be updated the acoustics would be better! read more

I have been to the Forest National more times than I can remember, usually for concerts but on a few occasions for some WWE wrestling. First of all. The place is sooooo old now. Well, maybe it isn't that old but it looks old and it feels old. It just isn't a nice place to go for a concert. It just doesn't have a comfortable happy feeling about it, that you would expect and prefer for a night out to see a favorite band that you probably paid a lot of money to see. As someone already mentioned; the acoustics are pretty bad and it does make the music sound bad. You'd be better off playing the band's CD in your car! On the other hand, for wrestling it was OK. Acoustics not needed. Hopefully they'll tear this place down and build a new one, although I doubt it. I much prefer Brussels' concerts at the Ancienne Belgique or the Cirque Royale. Meh. I am always disappointed when a good band announce they will play Brussels and the venue turns out to be Forest National. Big cavernous venue, with absolutely terrible acoustics. Have heard many a good musician sound quite bad in here all because of the soundsystem. If you have another option to see your favourite band play elsewhere, go for it! Avoid unless you have no choice. read more

I have seen Jack White, Alt-J and Zaz in Forest National and I must say I prefer other venues SO MUCH more. First of all, getting there. Forest National has a dedicated parking (not guarded) in the middle of nowhere, from which you can take the tram to the venue. Problem is getting back. The tram line connecting the two places operates every 15 minutes during the night (when the concerts end) and the tram gets packed immediately. Last time I had to wait for the third one and I only chose to wait because I was not sure I would find the parking otherwise. Second option is parking houses nearby. On my second time there (Alt-J) the parking house on Rue des Abesses was open and available, the last time (Zaz) it was closed and I had to find a parking in the packed streets around. Really doesn't make any sense. The venue itself is BIG, with two flights of seating and a big standing place in the middle. Too bad that there are only two sets of toilets for the whole ground floor and the bars get packed soon, too. The sound quality isn't the best and it doesn't depend on where are you at in the building. I really prefer the other venues, that might not have such a capacity, but are genuinely more suitable for musical shows. read more
