This place has become completely unreliable and not worth the effort anymore. Pierogi Inn repeatedly closes well before their posted hours. Today my husband went at 4:45 PM, and they were already shut, even though they claim to close at 5 PM. The owner was outside and casually said they closed early because there were no customers. That kind of attitude says everything. If you close whenever you feel like it, of course people stop coming. This is not a one-time issue. It keeps happening, and their posted hours clearly mean nothing. As for the food, we stopped buying their frozen pierogi after last purchase that was so bad my husband actually returned them. They were dark gray and full of ice, obviously they had been thawed and refrozen multiple times. We couldn't even look at them, let alone eat them. There are several other Eastern European stores in Sarasota that are consistent, professional, and actually respect their customers' time. This place does not. We won't be back. read more

Perogi Inn is a great shop to get your fill of a wide variety of Polish foods. We stopped in one afternoon really just to check it out and look, but came away with a number of delicious items. Two types of Kielbasa, some wonderful jam and a 6 pack of great Polish Porter. The staff was friendly and helpful. This will be a frequent stop for us in the future! read more

What a nice store! Everything was so neat, clean and tidy. We purchased some pierogi's, sausage and yummy pickles. We were looking for a type of Bigos we like and they happened to be out of stock. But the very nice lady behind the counter said they would be replenishing soon. We saw so many wonderful items we will definitely have to revisit and enjoy authentic polish fare. read more

A small but extremely clean grocery/deli. While the shop obviously caters to the Polish community, its employees speak great English so no worries if you're not a Pole. You can get some delicious, fresh and VERY reasonably priced deli meats, cheeses and smoked sausages here. If you've ever enjoyed pierogi, you will find a broad selection of fillings in their frozen pierogi (not locally made, but good quality). They sell Polish beer by the (12 or 24?) pack. On Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras) they had bakery-made paczki. If you're in the neighborhood, take a few minutes and check the place out! read more

What a great Polish deli!!! Really great wide selection of meats, perogies, pickled/jarred items, beer, fresh bread and goodies. The deli selections are fantastic. Love me some good fresh grilling kielbasa and this place has it. The bologna is pretty damn good too. If you are looking for a pretty awesome selection of Polish goods, look no further. This place has been here for over 20 years, but expanded significantly in the past few years. The result is a very well-stocked store of Polish sausage, cheeses, deli goods, pierogi (dozens of types), pickles, chocolates, and much, much more. And they even can send parcels to Poland at better rates than most. Very clean store and friendly service. read more

I spent some time wandering around and exploring the Gulf Gate area with my father today. I'm still pretty new in Sarasota, and heard that this area was full of great culinary discoveries. A few people I know have specifically mentioned this spot as the source for the best pierogis around, so we made it one of our destination goals. It ended up being the first one that we happened upon. We walked in to find an assortment of Polish specialty items ranging from blintzes, to herring, to farmer's cheese and pickles. The menu on the 2 small tables in the middle of the store consisted solely of different flavored pierogis and a few beverages. I asked and was told that yes, these are the same ones that they also sell frozen. We decided to split a plate of the potato pierogis which come with sauteed onions and sour cream. Sounds good to me. No need to load other ingredients in the way of my carby treat. Our plate came out a few minutes later with 6 small pierogis, hot out of the pan. They smelled wonderful and tasted even better. Smooth filling, perfect texture of the dumpling outside and the cool, creamy sour cream that one expects with this dish. I would also have loved some apple sauce, but that's just because I grew up eating them together. The onions were a nice touch, and the flavors were so indulgent and awesome together. It's a good thing my half was only 3 small pierogis because I think it's quite possible to go dangerously overboard with them otherwise. I definitely recommend sharing one plate. I am curious to try some of the other flavors they offer like mushroom and potato with cheese. Overall, this is definitely a great place for a starchy snack. I wish they had salads so that I could have made a whole meal out of it. Then again, they know what they do well and don't stray from that, and that fact in itself is really quite charming. Grab a pack of the dried Kabanosy from the meat case, a cold Zywiec from the fridge, and any mixture of packaged soups and jarred cabbage. Pierogi Inn has some basics that you might be missing from Poland. Friendly, helpful people. Good place to stop in when you're craving a taste of your home country, assuming your home country is Poland. read more
