Sorry, I must say this: the worst Quesadillas ever. The inner part wet and wobbly. Outside fragile, dry and hard. The filling was a mix of under average chicken and too long cooked bell pepper. I travel the world and have experienced the full gamut of good/bad cuisine on an extreme scale. The Pier House is hands down, without question the absolute worst example of "Mexican" cuisine that I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing! Add to that, terrible service by the waitress who immediately conveyed a sense of "I really don't want to be serving you". Took forever to deliver our drinks (I had likely the worst margarita I've ever had at a restaurant...mistake #1 on my part). Ordered the Mixed Mexican appetizer...mistake #2. The jalapeño poppers were still frozen in the middle, the mozzarella sticks barely had any cheese in them, the onion rings were bland and the mini cheese foldups were virtually tasteless. The "salsa" was basically tomato sauce and the "sour cream" looked like a spread for crackers. The main course took FOREVER to arrive and when it did, it was a complete disappointment! My "quesadilla" (mistake #3) was three folded up tortillas filled with bland grilled veggies and tasteless chicken. Same sad salsa and sour cream as the appetizer and a dribble of yellow cheese on the top. My dinner companion had the chili con carne. Tasted like Hamburger Helper. Zero spice or flavor. I didn't bother finishing mine. No server checked in on us after the meal arrived, no chance to order more drinks or complain about the terrible food. Had to flag down another server to pay our bill. She acted annoyed at having to take our money. I can't stress enough what a disappointment this restaurant was. Avoid this place at all costs! Complete waste of time and money. Last night, I went out with my friends to celebrate my birthday. We went to the Pier House, a Texan-Mexican restaurant located along the canal. The first thing one notice on entering the restaurant is the large space a huge bar, spacious indoor and patio dining areas with stunning views of the canal. Further, the decor is well set with soft and mood lighting with candles on every table! The menu selection is almost overwhelming with choices ranging from salads, soups, ensaladas, empanaditas, quesadillas, fajitas, tacos, steak, texan specialties, several house specialties and many more. I ended up choosing the Pollo California a grilled chicken breast served with grilled pineapple, salads, BBQ sauce, Mexican rice, sour cream and salsa roja (red sauce). The grilled fillet was ok, but it seemed as if something was missing. I found it a little bland. Scenic place inside and outside. We have been here for coffee time. Cappuccino was ok, Strawberry cake was below expectations. Though I need to admit that it end of March not the right season. read more
