As with most venues of this type, food and drinks are overpriced. They do have some some local food choices such as Saugy's hotdogs. There is reasonable priced parking available nearby at the Providence Place Mall. Overall, a good place to catch a game or a concert.

I came earlier this year for a Providence bruins game and this week went to Stars on Ice. They get some really great shows! I found parking on the street easy and getting in through security was simple. The show was amazing! I wish the bathrooms were cleaner and that they had better signage for the seats. There was also no security or police detail to help you cross the street, which was surprising after a big show!

In Providence RI, the local fans are extremely knowledgeable about their hockey and that makes them great! Equally important, they are very hospitable to out-of-towners. And make no mistake, the intimate confines of the Pizzitola Sports Center on the Brown campus is a classic gym in every sense of the word -- inexpensive tickets, great sightlines and enthusiastic crowds make these games everything I love about old school college sports. What you're watching are actual students playing basketball and not a one and done feeder league for the NBA/WNBA who frankly, couldn't pick their professors out of a line-up. These games are highly enjoyable because sports is the one facet of the Ivy League where the academic overdogs of the Ancient Eight become relatable underdogs as they navigate the almost professional ranks of Division I hoops. And all for less than a movie ticket matinee. It's hard not to love. Five easy stars.

Happy 100th Birthday Brown University Stadium!…read more Constructed in 1925, this stadium continues to host athletic events against its Ivy League competitors. Though capacity boasts 20,000 people, I would say crowds are typically much more conservative in size. I have attended a healthy handful of Brown University football games at this stadium in recent years. It is truly an enjoyable way to spend a few hours on a crisp New England Fall weekend afternoon with friends. Regarding the stadium facilities, there is a large, trapezoid-shaped concrete structure with metal bleachers on the home team side of the field. The cold can really get into your bones on particularly cool days so I always try to bring a layer to sit on (bonus if it's cushioned!). Restrooms and University food vendors are located underneath/inside the structure. They also bring in lots of port-a-potty's and restroom trailers to supplement. The food is reasonable priced and includes typical stadium food. That said, they also host several, rotating food trucks parked on the away team side. There's a small beer garden as well, though in recent years, they started selling beer throughout the stadium and you can finally enjoy it in the stands versus the beer garden alone. With everything somewhat spread out, there is a bit of walking involved to hit up all the amenities. Honestly, nothing more New England/Rhode Island than taking in an Ivy League football game on a Saturday while snacking on clam cakes and chowder from Blount's Clam Shack food truck and sipping on a Narragansett Brown Bear Pale Ale. The field was recently converted from grass to turf which gives it an updated look and some safety features for the athletes. You can purchase nearby parking if you want to be close by and tailgate up to game time (no re-entry) but I hear there is also ample street parking in the area if you don't mind walking a bit. Small pro-shop available for all your team spirited needs. They host a number of events (e.g. employee appreciation days) to bring a little something different to the games. Fun engagement with the crowds such as on-field mini competitions, t-shirt cannons, cheerleading routines, mini cannon firing, bell tolling, raffle tickets, etc. Having attended a Texas Longhorns game in the last couple months (insane), Brown Stadium offers something vastly different... a cozier, hometown feel that doesn't require a lot of fuss or pre-planning.

The shuttle buses are very comfortable and spacious. For $40.00, a family cant beat the value that is provided for the 2 day orientation events. A little pricey, but thats typical of any campus bookstore. The Harborside Bookstore was geared toward the culinary students and therefore had most of their cutlery and cooking utensils. A great addition to this tour would have been a driving tour of both the Harborside and Downcity campuses...but understand such things cost money (especially the fuel). All the culinary classes in one building and other classes in another. I was exploring the area, literally, walking around taking in the beautiful scenery on a surprisingly "summer-like" fall day. And as I approached AND walked on the campus, I kept saying to myself, this has got to be a college campus... this is somebody's school. Lol! And just like that - BAM! I walked by a sign that said Brown University. My mouth dropped and I smiled big... chuckling at myself. Everything was so peaceful and well-manicured (as expected from an Ivy League school). I blended in as I perused the campus, people watching the students go about their day. I love architecture and the buildings are beautiful. It was such a pleasant time!
