Came on a rainy Friday for lunch. The restaurant has plenty of free parking. It's large with two different seating areas to choose from; one is a more formal dining are and the other a bit more casual with a great pool table. Washrooms were nice and clean, there's a cute little vanity in it We sat in the dining area this time. They have a great big balcony that over looks the blind river. We were hoping to sit out there and enjoy lunch with the wonderful view but were foiled by the weather. Next time we are going to park ourselves outside! The server was new and super sweet. Very attentive and ready to answer any questions. I got the fish and chips and my cousin got the cheese steak ( I think it might be called something else, sorry) I must say the fish and chips were absolutely perfect, moist and succulent, not greasy and limp like you sometimes get. The fries were just the way I like them too, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I had tried a bite of the sandwich and it was also really great. Wow, what a great restaurant! I was really impressed overall. First of all they had a local craft beer from Sudbury on tap which was a bonus from your average canadian or Coors domestics. My girlfriend ordered a half order of shrimp linguine and it came with house Caesar salad. The salad was amazing. It tasted homemade and how a Caesar salad should taste like! I ordered their bison special! I never had bison steak before and I loved it! I highly recommend it. The seasoned vegetables complemented the bison very well. I'd definitely recommend this place to people travelling by and would definitely come back! Tip: they close at 8pm (kind of early) but really good food! Let's start with the location: beautiful setting on the delta of Blind River. In most of the areas of the restaurant you have views to the river: the inside is full of windows or you can seat outside in the patio. The restaurant has been renovated and it has an elegant yet simple atmosphere. There is a nice bar. Our server was attentive and efficient. The menu is small plus there are specials. We ordered two of the specials and both were very good, well prepared and tasty. The prime rib special came with a mini Yorkshire pudding and with perfectly steamed and seasoned fresh vegetables. The local fish special that was tender, juicy and flavorful. It came on a bed of basmati rice and with perfectly steamed and seasoned fresh vegetables. For dessert we had the strawberry shortcake: very different as it was with on a sconce pastry instead of cake. Very good! read more

This is an excellent place to stop on your - no doubt - lengthy trip down the TransCanadian Highway. This is the first time in my life that I've so thoroughly enjoyed both sauces which are served with the Calamari. I've had the seasonal halibut here (early autumn), and it's excellent as well. This place is built right next to the water, so sit outside if weather permits -- it's truly beautiful. Inside is spacious and it isn't crowded. I wouldn't be lying if I said this was one of the classiest places this remote. Service is excellent. We'll be making this a habitual stop on our frequent trips north. read more

Passing through and staying the night in blind river, highly recommend pier seventeen. Staff is friendly atmosphere is great. Coming from toronto a place like this would cost you on looks alone but the prices were reasonable and portions were huge! We spent a night in Blind River and spied Pier 17 and decided to try it. This is the sleeper restaurant of all time. Couldn't give high enough praise to the chef for the meal we enjoyed. I tried the Tiger shrimp linguine with Caesars salad and everything down to the croutons in the salad were home made and easily the best I have ever tasted.....ANYWHERE ! My wife had the souvlaki dinner plate and even the tzasiki sauce was home made and again everything was fantastic . Situated on a gorgeous lake with a fabulous outdoor deck overlooking the water this is a must for all travellers passing through Blind River ! read more

A restaurant like this is an anomaly in Northern Ontario. The food was well prepared, great atmosphere located right onthe side of Hwy 17. Had the Prime Rib which was excellent. The vegetables were nice. The only problem was the yorkshire pudding. My partner's was slightly burned, and mine was slightly undercooked. But the waiter was well versed and very helpful. Though the restaurant looks like you could show up in a suit, its freely open to every kind of diner. And so it should be. You could wear a t shirt or suit to this place as its small town Northern ONtario. The scenery i'm sure is beautiful in the summer on the deck. They definitely invested significant money into making this place. One last critique: The window seating...the mitre in the window poured in cold air. Even when sitting by a floor heat register you could feel the cold air which was uncomfortable. NOthing worse than trying to eat a meal with your right arm getting cold. read more

I had lunch there on my way home from Sault Ste. Marie and I'm glad I did. The prices are reasonable and the views are spectacular. I had the pulled pork on a ciabatta topped with sautéed mushrooms and onions; one of their specials that day. Although my sandwich tasted a little too vinegary, I can see the appeal in the recipe and thought that majority of people would like it. The meal cost $14 +tip which I thought was a great deal. The restaurant is situated on the bank of a beautiful river, so if you plan on eating there, ensure you ask for a table near a window. I had my lunch just as spring started so the water was still iced over. I did however see that they had docks ready to go in the water which seemed perfect if you want to stop in after a full morning of fishing, provided you weren't able to catch your own lunch. Just dock your boat and walk up to the restaurant. It was my first time there and I'll definitely be stopping there again. read more

We had brunch here as a group. We were 14 ppl. Service was great, food was fresh and not pre-made. Other posters who are complaining are probably not used to eating things that don't come from a box, or the Costco "gourmet" section. I would definitely eat there again, and encourage others to support a local business just starting out. read more

I recently was on a bus trip and there were 34 of us who got off to a slow start with a bus that had mechanical problems. After being delayed for 3 hours waiting for a new bus we were not able to stop at our scheduled restaurant for dinner. Pier Seventeen kindly took all of us in on a Sunday night at 7pm. We had wonderful, home cooked dinners that were absolutely fantastic. The service was a bit slow but they did a fantastic job given the short notice (our tour director had called about 4 hours ahead to ask if we could stop). Stopped in for the Brunch bar Sun. 3 weeks ago & it was FABULOUS. There was such a variety and the portions were amazing Even a dessert bar with a chocolate fountain. The atmosphere was great and the staff were very friendly. I loved the massive patio it was why we stopped. Unfortunately we ended up in the dinning room because there were no group tables on the patio we were only 6. I started with the salad which was nice but there were some wilted greens in it. I had pork tenderloin that was so thin and too thickly crusted with walnuts I couldn't even tell I was eating meat. The flavors were good but way way to much crust. I liked the baby veggies with my dinner but one was too hard I couldn't bite it. So I only at 4 out of the 5 veggies I was given. Others in my group ordered steak and felt it had no seasoning on it. One gentlemen felt his portion was much much smaller then what was quoted in the menu. Bread was also served in the middle of dinner after we asked for it. It would have been nice to snack on during the wait for our main dishes. I thought the restaurant was beautiful and I was excited to eat but it was very disappointed when I left. read more

Finally a restaurant that is worth driving to-the best between Sudbury and Sault Ste Marie-and likely to surpass in time even top establishments there.Large,airy, well appointed,tastefully decorated,black table cloths,white dishes,excellent cutlery,smart salt/pepper shakers...Attractively furnished veranda on 2 sides,facing water .and ideal for outside dining. I have been here 4 times now-Sunday brunch,dinner and lunch.Brunch has a wide choice ,including omelettes and waffles made to order,roasts ( beef or ham on alternate Sundays ).All freshly prepared and tasty. My only criticism :the chef from Barrie should add seafood and provide a choice of two roasts. Lunch and dinner menus include standard dishes ( steaks,wraps,chicken...) for those who are less curious and/or adventurous. For those who are, the seafood crepes-crab,shrimp,scallops-covered in a delicious creamy sauce -are excellent.The salads, especially Signature Greens are fresh ,crispy with imaginative touches such as caramelized walnuts.The tortellini would make an Italian chef jealous !.Desserts-cakes in particular-are varied enough to have seconds,if there were room ! Despite the fact that the restaurant has been open only 6 weeks ( and is still waiting for its Liquor license ), there were few start up glitches--running out of ice tea, strawberries, servers dropping dishes. etc. Service was generally good,the girls knew their menus,were friendly and helpful ( they spent 3 weeks in house training run by the chef's"s wife,who also manages the place ).Prices are entirely in line with the quality provided. The atmosphere WAS superb and clean. Right on the lakefront. Once inside the service was disappointing especially for travellers looking for a good meal that's not too much time...waiting. We had three kids with us and the price of kraft dinner was $6 for a small bowl no veggies, drinks or dessert included. I couldn't believe it "Kraft dinner" at a decent upscale restaurant....really! I was extremely disappointed in the kids menu and the price tag of $8 per dessert as well. I can't believe the nerve charging $6 for kraft dinner and not having real homemade mac & cheese, shame on them. No veggies to boot. As well we did not receive any bread at our table. Beautiful looking place (Minus the cheap fake flower in water on the table). I order a salad for a starter. The Cesar dressing was not very Cesar like and there wasn't much of it. It also came with a super greasy parmesan wafer, it looked nice but wasn't edible due to it being covered in grease. Some croutons would have been nice too! The stale soggy little slice of bread did not suffice. $7 for a salad that was pathetic. The service was ok, very polite but would have been nice if the ladies were served first. I ordered a fish and was told that the rice that the mash that was on the menu with the fish could not be served and I had to have rice. Then ran out of something and changed their menu to suit them. One plate was left on the table after the bill was paid and until we left, they forgot to come back for it when getting the others. We had to listen to the same music the whole time there. Get a new CD! I listened to the same 4-5songs 3times! Horrible. read more

We had lunch there today - huge disappointment. When this restaurant opened last year, the food was first rate and so was the service. The menu is banal, the food ditto. Try a frozen puck for the prime rib burger, bottled overly salted dressing for the caesar, packaged ham substituted for corned beef in the Reuben (also with bottled Thousand Island dressing and bottled sauerkraut). The management is definitely cutting corners or product and the staff, superbly trained last year, could barely tear themselves away from gossip to take care of the customers. The table next to us sat uncleared for half an hour despite the fact that there were only 3 couples in the entire place. Our suggestion is to avoid this place and if you're eastbound go 20 minutes further to Spanish and the Auberge, if westbound, go 20 minutes further to the Red Top in Iron Bridge (May to Oct.). We heard that the original chef had been fired and this was confirmed by our server. His standards must have been too high for this penny pinching operation.
