If I am visiting Kemah and don't care for anything fancy but want fried fish or shrimp, This is my spot. You choose what you want, the selection is in your face. It's like you're at a fish market. You tell them how you want it, whole or cut in pieces (not sure if there are other ways as that's how I've had it) and they deep fry it for you! I have to eat that with rice, so that's what I order, but you can get French fries. It can get pricy bc their fish and shrimp are huge! read more

What happened to this place? It used to be delicious and fresh. We went for Saturday lunch, busy but the line was not long. All the fishes' eyes are sunken, not freash. No live crab and the squid was treated with baking soda. I am so used to fresh seafood in Houston Chinatown, in comparison this place's seafood is such bad quality. Perhaps they came in fresh for them, but they totally failed to maintain the freshness. I can get much better selection at HMart, Hong Kong Market, 99 Ranch, etc. We ate there and all our fish, shrimp, oyster are fried to utter dryness ... desparately overcooked ... AKA killed twice. The scallops are not dry, but the batter was soggy ... indication that chef did not blot dry scallops before cooking ... how sloppy. French fries were good. The place was packed with Hispanic families and all their plates look the same as mine and they all seems to enjoy the food a lot. This place is operated by Filipinos. Fresh seafood galore. They pretty much fry anything you want and if you ask you can even get sinigang soup... It is a Filipino soup dish that is a bit sour, but very tasty. I would recommend it on a cold day. The price is not bad considering it's fresh seafood that you can pick right in front of you. On average we usually spend about 130$ + to feed 5 people with leftovers.The only thing is the place is not the cleanest around especially the restrooms. That's why I have to give it a 3 out of 5 stars but I haven't gotten sick yet... So I'll still go back. read more

My buddy at the gym told me about this place. I decided to take my family there for a Sunday brunch. They have a seafood market with a fry/boil service downstairs and a buffet style Mongolian BBQ upstairs. The weather is somewhat overcast, so we decided to go with the fry/boil service and sat in the patio while watching the seagull, pelican, life, etc. passing by. I had to select the seafood from the market and tell the butcher how each one should be cooked. They had various types of fish, various sizes of shrimps, oysters, scallops, etc to pick from. The family that sat next to us actually went crabbing from the market's patio after finishing their meal. I saw them using chicken leg and caught 4 crabs! It was definitely very fun to watch. Boy, those crabs are really hungry, because they did not have to wait that long. The other thing good about this place is that they will cook the seafood that you catch earlier or buy from other seafood markets in the area. If you like fresh seafood, this is definitely the place to go! We will definitely go back to try their Mongolian BBQ. read more

She was so awesome. We gave her tips and she came over after to say how appreciate she is. I guess people don't tip after they eat because they thin it's a fish market. So if you read this, please make sure you tip the servers. They still have to clean up your mess after you leave and they make their living based on the tips. I was super excited to try this place today with my family and our guest from out of town. It was recommended by a friend. It wasn't very packed and we didn't have to wait very long for our food. However, I have never seen any wait staff that is as shameless, and thick skinned as the lady that bought out our food. Everything is pretty much self serve except for the food being bought out from the kitchen. She complained how heavy our food was, how she had to carry it up the stairs, and how hard it was. She ends every sentences telling us to give her tips. And she stood there waiting till we gave her some money. I've worked in restaurants since I was 16. I understand the concept of tipping, and I know how hard the wait staffs work. So even if my family didn't tip at the cashier, I would've tip at the end for the clean up. It's just common courtesy. If you're ever going to Kemah, please avoid the glitzy restaurant chains and eat at Pier 8, which is less than a mile away from the boardwalk. This place is truly amazing. Every time I have guests from out of town, I try to bring them here at least once. The biggest drawback here is that the wait can be extremely long if you come here on a Saturday afternoon. Please plan accordingly. Also, the protocol here may be confusing since it's more of a fish market transformed into a restaurant. They have a variety of fresh seafood from shrimp, oysters, catfish, tilapia, etc. They charge by the pound and the listed price is for the raw seafood. There is a small fee for them to fry, boil, or however you want them to cook your food. Of course this just gives you options if you want to cook it yourself the next day. I'm not sure if you're allowed to but I always bring a cooler with drinks, and I've seen many other parties do the same. They've never said anything to me when I bring my cooler, so I assume it's fine with them. For two people I suggest having them fry 1.5lbs of the smallest shrimp (still pretty good in size), half a catfish, and an order of fries. The seafood is served with cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, and lemons. Depending on how large the catfish is, this should be more than enough food for under $25. I have had the jumbo shrimp, and for double the price of the smallest shrimp, it's just not worth it. I don't understand why you would pay $15 for one pound of jumbo shrimp instead of paying $7 for one pound of small shrimp. One pound is one pound, and the weight of the tail is pretty negligible. They don't skimp out on the fries here either. It is a healthy portion and they are delicious. With most restaurants like this, I expect soggy fat fries. However, they serve crispy golden brown ones here. There is a buffet restaurant upstairs. It is a Mongolian BBQ style buffet with the tiniest seafood. I think they just send up whatever they can't sell at the fish market to the buffet. I have tried it once and I highly recommend the downstairs fish market instead. If you want upscale, this is definitely not the place to go, but if you want great food at a very reasonable price, this is it. read more

You choose your fish, so if you grabbed a lesser fresh one is all on you! So do not take filets, it is quite rate you find a full body fish around united States, you better get advantage of that. Best if you share everything with your group. We loved the fried flounder and the shinigang prawns, cooked nicely, and we didn't have to wait to much. We arrived around 11:30 am and the queue was fast. Ask for the vinegar sauce for the fish, and mix it with lemon. After looking at the options such as shrimp, catfish, orange roughy, and some others I had not heard of, I asked which were fresh caught and which were farm raised. They were honest and told me where each type was from. We chose some fresh seawater shrimp and also one fresh fish that was caught in the Mexico Baja. We took the time to speak to the staff and they were incredibly nice and patient with us. We sat outside and were served the fish hot off the fryer. The fries were also hot and crispy. Fresh lemon, sauces, and picnic items accompanied the meal. We watched the folks around the water fishing and saw fish jumping out of the water.
