We cruised out of Pier 35 on the Carnival Miracle on the 18th of August. We had priority boarding; but as we kept being told "this pier isn't designed for priority boarding" Upon arriving to give our passports, and ID I asked again, they said "we don't do priority boarding at this pier" and asked if I would be okay to walk to the ship; I have a disability and was told it wasn't far to walk.
WELL, it was far, very far, and we had to use an escalator because the elevator didn't take us where we needed to go.
There's not much we can do about this now, except to write a review. The entire staff here, including Carnival staff were ill-informed. As I met people on the ship, and in our Facebook group upon arriving home I learned that there was a priority boarding area and they were led on with those who had accessibility issues.
I was also informed to use VeriFly by Carnival to make check in at this pier easier; it made things WORSE and took much longer.
Hopefully the Port of San Francisco will figure this out if this pier will be put back in use on a regular basis. read more
