After an extremely long work week, I returned home to find a sign posted on the corner of the street perpendicular to mine indicating that a paving project would be done. Fast forward to 6:45 p.m. and I hear the sound of a truck right outside my house. I approached the driver of the truck, explained that it was late, and asked when they would be finished with the project. He stated that there was a problem with the asphalt truck and that the project was behind schedule. He assured me that they would be wrapping up shortly. Nearly an hour later, the trucks and workers were still outside paving the street. I spoke with someone who stated he was the owner of the company who again explained that the truck transporting the asphalt broke down. I told him that is not my problem and complained about the noise of the trucks rumbling through and the machinery being used . He said that they would be done in about 45 minutes. (This is after one of his workers assured me they would be done shortly.) Inconsiderate and unprofessional. While I can understand circumstances beyond one's control can happen, a professional company would have a contingency plan in place or, at the very least, alert the residents in the immediate vicinity of the timetable for completion. read more
