By the time we got back to our hotel, my goal was to go shopping, and kinda limping all over, when we passed this store. I just wanted to buy a new pair, that I can walk without pain, the price didn't matter to me. (I have one bunion surgery on one foot, and the other suffers, but I didn't like having bursitis on that one side of my body, that's why I was debating if I should or not get another. But as I typed, I found a solution to the pain, and 2016 is going to be a better year for me). It was almost that I was pressured to buy whatever colors, & style they have, but I MUST have to hurry & decide, they're about to close for the evening. I made the right choice! That was 3 years ago, and the ankle boots I bought that night, had become ONE OF MY FAVORITES, most comfortable walking boots! I've bought several pairs since then, and no matter what outfit I wear, no matter what occasion or event, those boots were the ones I wear! The ladies were very friendly to me. They were helpful, and by no means were they trying to persuade me to buy that one. I picked it, because I love the styling, the fur inside, the 2-tone look, the color, it's leather, and now because of the comfort. During winter, keeps my feet warm & dry. They're Made in Spain, (either that or Italy) are two of my favorites! There is nothing more to add! Oh yes there is. . . anything that I LOVE so much, boots, cars, skirts, jeans . . . if I could, I'd buy them in all the colors they come in, and wear a different one a day. This is one of those!

The intimate or lingerie department had beautiful and high quality lines as well as designs made in Spain at reasonable prices. The extended return policy also helps if not trying on items in the store or in a hurry. Their stores are multi levels food and grocery items in the lower level, perfumes shoes, handbags electronics on second, women's, men's etc. don't know how many of you will relate but back in the day "Burdines" which is now known as Macy's only had Restaurants in their stores and La Corte Inglés has a wonderful restaurant that brought back memories. Didn't want to give away my age but it's like saying I'm from the era of whoolworth's, Tom McCann Shoes, tube TV's, cellular phones were a brick and Wordstar was the it program lol! I definitely recommend you visit La Corte Inglés for the experience. Their window displays are like the old fashioned ones. The decorations throughout the entire store was impressive. If you can visit late November to mid December you will be blown away. Hasta luego,

El Corte Inglés S.A. (English: The English Cut as in tailor's cut) is Spain's only remaining…read moredepartment store chain, as well as owner of several associated businesses. The primary flagship store for the chain is located in Madrid at 79, Raimundo Fernández Villaverde Street. It encompasses several buildings and carries the most comprehensive collection of designers of any large store in Spain. I briefly coaxed Gayle into one building of the Madrid Complex sometime during the evening before Día de la Hispanidad. El Corte Inglés was also close to the Hotel, so why not? I don't recall what I was looking for, but I remember the entire place to be packed with people. We walked and shopped around, but left relatively quickly. After all, we didn't come to Spain to spend too much time in a large equivalent of Macy's. And as Gayle and I later traveled through Bilboa, San Sebastian, Girona, or Barcelona, there was a El Corte Inglés around just in case we changed our mind. Yet, there's a grocery store in the basement and one always needs wine and nibbles on the road......

It's a cafe in the basement of a leather good store called "The Secret". We had coffee, and light bites at this cafe and had great conversations. It's hard to find, so you really have to know where it is. The place has signature beverages and other goodies! Great atmosphere too, and very quiet. I'd love to come back here again, but it would probably be a while before I get another Madrid layover.

It's quaint, cozy and romantic too. On top of that it's great food, drinks and the staff are very welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. Top notch service and I love the way they treat me. Jose is super awesome!!! He has such a great personality. He knows how to communicate even though he can't speak English perfectly but he tried his best to accommodate and understand what I'm talking about. I wish I know how to speak Spanish... He never gave up and wasn't shy about it. He did his job properly and definitely went above and beyond. I love the friendly vibe, he is very professional and hospitable. He is a great asset to this company. Definitely will be back here when I visit Madrid again.
