a joke, called sheriff 3 times when someone was on my property all night. Nobody ever came and I live 3 minutes from the station

Went in yesterday at 7pm to report someone harassing/stalking/threatening me. used their phone system to tell them what was going on and they asked me to sit down and that someone would be out. Two people came in and got helped for something different (understandable) but 40 minutes passed not one person had helped me, suddenly a man comes in and they take his statement immediately and once he was done they finally have the courtesy to tell me someone will be out. After OVER an hour later still no help. Genuinely felt so disrespected because I can hear them all behind that room laughing and answering calls but no one could come out and tell me to come back or that it would be a while. I genuinely felt like they purposely didn't help me so that I would just leave. They made me feel like they invalidated my words because it wasn't "severe" to them. The man basically had the same kind of report to file too which made no sense as to why no one even bothered to speak to me. This made me feel so disrespected as I was in a vulnerable and emotional state and worked up the courage to even go in and report because ofc we all know the police never do anything but hey i decided to give them a break. I was sadly mistaken to even go here. This was so incredibly infuriating and disappointing. So to whoever was working 8/6 at 7pm DO BETTER AND STOP INVALIDATING WOMEN BECAUSE YOU THINK ITS NOT SERIOUS!!! SHAME ON THESE LAZY MEN. a woman would've helped me and heard my voice from the start. I would like to add I'm a VERY patient person and do not get upset easily(which is why it took me so long to even report this person in the first place) so I wasn't not overreacting or being inconsiderate of the fact that they could've been busy, also if that was the case SOMEONE could've asked me to come back or told me it was too busy. I had a friend take me and I waisted over an hour of her time for them to not even speak to me or look me in my eye. I left my number too and no one even called me or apologized. I'm confused. I'm a regular citizen who is writing a review on a police station, what is wrong here? I have called 911 twice and was both times directed to the Whittier police department and then finally directed to the local sheriff's department. My first call was about older men who had been drinking at a local liquor store and causing trouble. My second call was about small kids (5-6 years old) who were wandering on their own late at night, the lady police was really just concerned about them getting back to their mom's car, but that does mean they were truly safe? probably not, for all I know is that there are bigger problems behind these stories, the drunk men will continue to get drunk, the lost kids will someday find their parents, and the police is not really doing much than to be rude to the citizens who call (911) for genuine help. I guess I'm the one who should be calling a therapist and not the police station? Lol.. Contrary to popular belief, I think that the moral of the story here is: "Don't ask, don't tell." read more

Literally THE WORST police department EVER!!! My e-bike was stolen, someone cut through a half inch of steel while I was gone only 40 minutes. It took them AN HOUR to even get there! The cop gets there and is too lazy to even get out of the car!! He waves me over. I'm like, no. He does absolutely nothing. Doesn't do a report, doesn't check surveillance cameras, nothing. Tells me to go to a website and put in the details of the bike, I am disabled and I can't drive. It's all I had and he could not have cared less. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

Worst station ever made me wait hours to write a report and never showed up saying they were busy. when someone at the park broke into my car and stole everything . They didn't do their job right and on top of that they still haven't arrested the dude that broke into my car with the excuse saying the guy who broke in is homeless. Maybe if 10cops didn't show up to one call just to hang out and actually patrol, the city would have a more trust in their officers. Pulled me over last for "illegal tint" my car has no tint on the front or passgener windows or front windshield only my rear window. Then they lied saying they smelled weed in my car, when there was obviously no weed smell, they use that lie so they can search your car. Then asked me what I was arrested for in the past, when I've never been arrested not even a parking ticket ever. Then once they couldn't find anything in my car after making a mess they had to "leave" they literally just drove to the corner and waited probably figured they had no reason to pull me over. Like many negative reports about this station I also have to agree. After filing a police report for car burglary I was called a few days later to be told they found the persons involved. They later asked if I wanted to press charges which I obviously did. It's been over 2 months have not heard back from the police station. I've called several times and have been told my case number is not valid and the sherif who called me doesn't even work there. They told me my items were recovered and they will let me know if I can pick them up. Literally the most ridiculous kind of excuses for them not to follow through and do their job. Still to this day have not heard back I've been told someone will call me to follow through several times and have yet to receive a phone call. This police station is a joke. Our home in Whittier (Spy Glass Hill Estates)sadly, falls out of Whittier's jurisdiction and into the lovely hands of the Pico Rivera's Sheriff Station. In order words, we are screwed! We've lived on Spy Glass for nearly 10 years and I can't convey how many times our neighbor who is approximately three homes down from us, has had parties with live bands playing from about late morning into late evenings..I get that we all have important occasions in our lives to celebrate, but when you are playing music with a very high base that is booming none-stop, it starts to raise your anxiety level and there is simply no way to find peace. EACH TIME THAT I'VE CALLED the station, the dispatchers will fight me and essentially tell me that there's nothing they can do. I end up calling back several times and the conversations ends up very badly. They will lie at any cost to avoid having to fulfill their duty. When they do arrive, they harass us and seem bothered. Their solution for the problem has often been, that I could request to have the nieghbor arrested. This is how mental they are. They want me to utilize my citizen arrest rights to have them turn down their music before going to jail. Their solution has been and was again last night to have them arrested. So, let's create friction and hate between two neighbors instead of just asking them to turn down their music a bit. I'm completely disgusted by their actions. Noise pollution and unnecessary noises are prohibited and are clearly enumerated ordinances under Title 8 Health and Safety codes. They have been enacted to protect us from harsh and prolonged unnatural sounds that may cause physical harm. It also states, the duty of the officer and the process for them to enforce the law. Last night, our neighbors were celebrating with their live band from about 11:30 am to about 8 pm on a Sunday night. I called the worthless department at 5 pm and by 7:30 still nothing was done to lower the music. I called back and officer (ARENAS) the female dispatcher told me that she does in fact see my call from earlier, but nothing can be done. We can not go out to your neighbors houses and tell them that they need to lower their music. She went on to say that there is NO LAW for them to enforce. Furthermore, she said that they can play their music into the morning hours and that is perfectly normal. As my husband was talking with ARENAS, all of a sudden we start hearing a beeping sound and basically she put us on hold without advising us and naturally, no one was going to come back on the line. We ended up having to hang up and call back and a supervisor comes on the line. I wish I had gotten his name. He tells us the only way we can do anything which is to file a report/fine them and we will have to include your name and identification. Then we can go out there and site them and fine them and arrest them. Are you kidding me? My husband was about to go through the roof and I said to him, this truly sad. We had been reasonable with the neighbors. We didn't ask them to stop completely and now this bozo is telling us that he has to include our name. In this day and age where people are crazed and shot folks for nothing, he wanted to put us in harms way. So, you wanted to put our lives in danger at 8 pm instead of doing your job. As for the dispatcher Arena,I find it so hard to believe that she is unfamiliar with penal code 8.40.101 noise disturbance ordinance, when in fact it's one of the most common request for help that they receive on a daily bases. In the past 10 years, this exact scenario that takes place with the sheriffs station. This morning after I get the kids off to school, I am going down to the station to formally file a complaint. I'm kindly asking all of constituents to stand up against this type of abuse. I came to get a police report for my stolen property and was given an incident report and was told it was the same. I even contacted the captain or whoever was in charge and he said to give me the police report and they gave me an incident report anyways. Their lack of seriousness when it's come to reporting a case or problem has been unbelievable. I have been trying for 10 months now to get the help need from the sheriff and still nothing. The have made me feel like I committed a crime for wanting them to help me get my property returned or even have someone investigate all the evidence I have to determine the truth. I got a call from the Pico riviera police that they had stopped a erratic driver, who had drugs, in his possession were a bunch of gift cards. On running one of the gift cards they found the numbers of my credit card. So they contacted me to inform me to cancel my credit card and confirm that I had not allowed the convict to use my info. So thanks to the dedicated police officers I was informed in time so no extra charges were charged to my account. I just had to call and cancel my credit card. read more

I called there to complain about the ridiculous noise and bass coming from The Iguana bar. The sheriff answers, I tell him about the noise and he tells me there isn't anything they can do. He says that the bar has a permit. Well no shit dumbass. I know they have a permit but they are playing their music way above what the law allows. He says that I will have to go to City Hall to make a complaint. Its constant noise, constant bass, constant music and the sheriff's cant do anything about it???? Since when cant police do anything about anything?? It's a nuisance and there's nothing that can be done. The bar is open till 2 am every single night and all i can do is complain to city hall?? And when did City Hall go to a bar or nightclub on a weekend to check the noise coming from the bar?? They dont work weekends at City Hall. I swear in my 45 years of life, not only is Pico Police but Downey police too, the ABSOLUTE WORST POLICE I've ever encountered. It's no wonder the Pico and Downey are the way they are. On a custody incident they enforced an un conformed court petition from a respondent and when they were presented with a conformed court order, they women at the desk basically said the document was not valid cause it did not have a seal from the court but the commissioner stamp is clearly present. everyone that works here is just here for a paycheck. None of these so called public servants care about the community they have given an oath to serve. Dispatch is very unprofessional , i called about people breaking in to my neighbors house and it took them an hour to arrive while at the same time the dispatch agent was being very condescending and talking down. from my experiences they have been very lazy in taking reports and will try to talk you into not filling charges so that they don't have to write any reports , if you actually get an officer to take a report they will send it to their detective but the detective lives and breathes this same culture of laziness that has plauged the department. I've actually had a couple of incidents that made it this far and they were turned down by the detective even though there was plenty of evidence of the crime . if you ever ask dispatch speak to the watch commander they will always transfer you to a line that is disconnected you will never ever get that opportunity. if you call to give them a thank you for something they might have gotten right they will immediately transfer you to their watch commander and he or she will answer. this place is a joke and it needs a major overhaul , the cops are fat , the females have attitudes .These retards live in a microcosm of their own and think that people don't pay attention , i am ashamed to say that the sherrifs are my law enforcement , they have no ettiquite or common courtesy, they stare me down when they drive past my house like I don't help pay their salary , i want to respect and appreciate the cops but they need to work on their chosen profession and be professionals. I have an alcoholic drunk neighbor that harassing me for over 3 years, I called the police a few times they did nothing to protect, help or even give me a good advise, what to do? the only thing they told me is that I should move because I am different then my neighbors! I asked her about my other options but she was unwilling to give me the advise just cause I opened my mouth to say something!!!!!! Honestly they need to make it so you can have zero stars. This station is pretty bad. I called in to make a report about a man that exposed himself to me and kept trying to get me into his car. After waiting about an hour maybe longer they finally send someone out. The officer that came was on his cell phone while he was driving and sat in his car for a 5-10 mins before hanging up and coming out to talk with us. He was on the phone talking and laughing. To me this was the first sign that he really didn't care about the situation at hand. When he finally comes up to the porch he asked what was going on I had told him and he told me, my sister, and my aunt who were both there with me that this was not a serious thing because the man did not try to physical grab me or stop me from walking away. WOW really.....So you do not think that a man masturbating with his penis out and telling me to get into his car is not a serious crime??? And me trying to walk away with him following me...? that is not serious enough because he did not try and grab me? Well im sure if he had the extra hand since one was being used he would have. I have two small child that are both under the age of 7 and I find this very frighting as a mother. I never let my kids outside alone but what if this happened to one of them? I completely lost faith in our local law enforcement because this officer. After my sister gets upset by the way the officer is treating us and reacting as if its not as serious as we think and she tells him this he finally says ok I will start a report so he walks back to his car. While at his car he starts to text on his cell phone and laughing and smiling as he is reading his texts. He comes back after a couple mins and tells us there was a shooting and he has to report to it there will be someone else out to take my report. I am upset but fine with it because I know a woman being shoot I way more serious. He walks back to his car and beings to text AGAIN before actually turning on his lights and driving away. I began to get a little frustrated after about 2hrs of no one calling me or coming to take a report. This is not the first time we have called this station and no one ever came out so I began to think this was going to be another situation. So I call the station to make sure someone is still coming because it is getting late and Im beginning to fall asleep. The guy who answered the phone was very unprofessional and rude when I begin to explain what happened and asked if anyone was coming. He tells me in a rude manner that because I called in and requesting someone they are pulling a officer away from the shooting just to make a report for me. First of all I didnt ask that at all, I simply wanted to make sure that someone was coming out. I would never ask for someone to be pulled away from a life treating situation like that. I then asked for his supervisors name so that I can get his name and the officers name that was sent out to my house the first time and let a supervisor know what had happened. He was rude again and told me he would just transfer me. I finally got a supervisor that had me explain what had happened with the pervert and I asked for the officers name that was sent out me he tried to tell me he cant pull that up and he didnt know. He was trying to get around having to give me any names. As soon as I hang up I get a knock at my door by two officers. Why does it have to get to the point where I have to call a supervisor to have a officer sent out to make a report. At the end of all this it turns out this man who did this to me has been driving up and down my street a couple times a day for about a week now and he had an altercation with a neighbor two doors down from me. If this was the case dont you think the police station would consider this something serious and dont you think this guy could come back at any time?.... THIS POLICE STATION IS A JOKE VERY RUDE UNPROFESSIONAL OFFICERS. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO FEEL SAFE BY OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT NOT FEEL LIKE THEY ARE NOT HERE TO PROTECT AND SERVE US. Absolutely one of the worse law enforcement agencies around hands down! Had a house robbery 3 years ago and it took them almost 2hours to arrive to my home. Have had 2 false alarm calls and both times their response times have been over 1hr. Somehow when we have a small birthday party and my music is a little too loud they miraculously get to my house within 10minutes. Do your job!!!!!! read more

I called police station regarding homeless people living behind the bushes in front of my job and nothing has been done about it. not to mention, they have clothes lines hanging from the trees, couches, mattresses and a whole lot of trash back there(they cant even clean up after themselves),not even the city workers that are sent out to clean that area will go back there and clean,maybe its intimidation because when you approach them, they'll let you know what hood they belong to! all we get is a "we'll send a unit out" by the time they show up, all the drug activity we reported is gone because THEY TAKE THEYRE SWEET TIME to show up. we called today regarding suspicious activity going on behind the bushes and a fire they had going on back there ,they sent TWO units out and neither did anything about it. when they pulled up, the homeless people were walking away and instead of pulling them over (since they are the ones we made a report about) the cop came straight to our facility and started questioning US!! how stupid and ignorant can they be???!!!!! to make a long story short, they didn't do anything about it after we told the watch commander that Bob Archuleta told us to give them a call! and pretty much just came to show they're faces like they're doing something about it!!!
