Considering that I'm pulling the parts myself in the heat I would expect to pay less than eBay where it's shipped to me for free. There is no phone number to the actual locations, so if you're trying to get any details about part costs or inventory, good luck, you'll have to visit in person. I wish they had better signage in the yard. Sometimes it can be a little confusing navigating the areas. Yes they have a small map at the desk that they can offer you, but to put down your wheelbarrow to look at it often can be annoying. I'll still go from time to time for small items. THIS IS A DO IT YOURSELF, BRING YOUR OWN TOOLS, or mechanics type of place! I realized I need an instrument cluster for my car!! I looked online and the price ran over 100.00. A friend of mine told me about LKQ, and how you have to take the part of yourself. I called to verify they had the part. I looked it up on YouTube and decided I was mechanically inclined enough to do it myself! So I grabbed my handy dandy screwdriver and went on my way! When I arrived I had NO IDEA what to do where to go. The staff was very helpful in pointing me in the right direction. They printed out a slip that had the location of the crucial that matched my car!! Which was a relief because I thought I was going to be lost in the maze! It cost 3.00 to get in an they gave me instructions on where to go and I was on me way! The aisle are marked with numbers on the quarter panel of the cars so you know which aisle is which. Finding my car was easy, taking out the part wasn't hard as some of the stuff was already taken off, which was a plus! I ended up needing a longer screwdriver. I searched a few rows and found a friendly guy who let me borrow his. I can't stress enough bring your own tools! On a hot day searching for someone to borrow a tool might take longer than taking off the part itself. I ended up getting my part off and headed back to the front! I paid for my part and headed out. There is a warranty on the part and I can return it before 30 days as long as it has the sticker and mark on it! It really was just that easy. It may not be depending on what part you are getting but it was def worth the savings for me. I paid 40.00 and a little bit of sweat vs over 100.00 for a part not including shipping and waiting time. All counterpersons are helpful, but one stands out. Angel is upbeat, helpful and knowledgeable. He assisted me with a smile and was sure I got my military discount. They'll pull your car part for you if you need them too and they have a lot of different car selections they got hybrid batteries batteries and the staff is really good and they're open from 9:00 till 4:30 everyday and they also work very hard at being a very good recycling plant and just make sure you have your receipts if you need to return something and make sure you get your warranty on it and they're very helpful read more

Now I can't buy a cylinder head without buying the whole motor? Rear axle $$ has doubled? C'mon the "warrantee" stuff is just ridiculous. Disappointed that these guys seem to be unable to consider the customer. A couple years ago I was kicked out when they tried to charge me a 4x4 transfer case for a fwd car differential, about twice the price at the time. Then it's one absurd way after another to nickel and dime you to death. I've been going to yards for 20 years and have visited this one occasionally going way back. Extremely expensive, they charged my husband $84 for 4 ignition coils, they cost $50 (the set) new, $28 for a sensor connector, $25 for a plastic cover and more.. everything more expensive than buying it new, will NOT return. read more

Lkq was the best place for a mechanic to get used parts but pick your part has ruined that. I left half the stuff at the counter last week. $21 for a door handle. I looked on Amazon and found all 4 for $22. Now engines are sold based on what engine they are and they want a core? No more warranty you have to pay for it and they don't ask. It's added automatically as I just paid for a warranty on a vacuum line and a fuel line? I was going to have them refund it but just wanted to leave as my favorite place now sucks. read more

I have gone to Pick Your Part in other locations in California and experienced a much better environment there. My experience started with wanting to get a tail light for an older car. I did my research and found 2 cars available at this location. I called, they confirmed they have the car, but no confirmation on the parts, fair enough. When I got there, the cars were there, and the only part that was available was broken. I took the part anyway because the broken part was in a different area than my tail light, thinking I could make it work. Coming to the counter, they wanted to charge $24.95 for a broken part. I offer $10 but was rejected. So they would throw away a part that they could get some $ for. That tells me that this place is not really flexible and I would not want to waste my time visiting it a second time. An overview of the place: It is a junkyard so expect that it is dirty. Cars are lined up with proper identification and placement and pretty accurate with their computer system. I was able to find the cars pretty quickly. The bad part is that the entry fee is $3 and does not guarantee that your part would be available. Bottom line: Not worth 2nd visit. read more

I've been going to LKQ now (pick your part) since the late 80's when it was called Cofer Brothers. Use to be a great place to get affordable used parts. I haven't been there in years went this morning 8/6/23 to get a high pressure fuel pump for a 2012 Chevy equinox. They charged me $124.00 I got it went home checked on Ebay found a new one OEM for a $130.00. That place has went to crap selling used parts that you have to pull yourself not even sure if it's any good at the price of new parts online. I'm returning it tomorrow. As far as junk yards go, this location has a lot of cars and keeps the flow of people and new arrival cars moving along well. They chagre $3 per person to enter and you must be over 16. If you join their app, you can get in free 1 time. They have a computer on site where you can look up the car you need, and print out the cars location inside the yard. You can also search their website and make sure they have the car you're wanting before going. If they don't have it here, they may have it at one of their many other locations. This is a large national junk yard company. Bring your own tools to take apart the cars and get your parts. They do supply wheel barrels and flat carts to assist you with large, heavy or multiple items. Watch for mud holes, broken glass, and sharp objects on the ground as you walk the yard. There is no place to wash your hands and no public restroom. So bring some hand wash and paper towels. Prices on some items were cheap, other seemed pricey, so overall it's a good place to buy cheap parts, if you want to get dirty and do the work yourself. I'll be back as necessary. read more

I was recommended to contact LKQ in Tampa when my car's computer died and wasn't worth fixing anymore. I reached out to them and got a reasonable estimate for my car. It took a couple weeks to get a pick up setup because they're customer service is very pushy to get you to do a pickup same day and very quick to try and get you off the phone. I finally got a pickup set up for a Saturday since I couldn't leave work sometime between 9 and 5 in the middle of the day to meet their driver across town. I am very glad I didn't try to make the appointment during the week since the tow truck was 3 hours late from the time I was given to meet them. I called LKQ Tampa multiple times to try and find out when the truck would arrive and on the third call was finally told the driver had another customer first and was on the way but couldn't give me an ETA. On my 4th time speaking with their customer service, I was told that they do not pickup on Saturday's; despite being scheduled for today, being called by their dispatcher to be given a time for today, being told the truck was on the way, and wasting half of my day. After calling back for the 6th time, I was given another ETA of 3:15 and the truck finally showed. read more

I went there the other day with my husband. My first time ever going to a place like that, and the same for my husband. We had no clue how things worked or how to get the part we needed for our car. I believe the Manager of the place knew that we were like a fish out of water. He came over to us and introduced himself as George and asked if we needed any help finding anything. Which of course we did. He explained to us how everything worked, and help us find where we could find the part we needed. Until recently, I hadn't stepped foot in this place since it was a Copher's U-Pull It back in 1996. Never thought I'd need to come back either, but desperation set in while searching for a Jeep Cherokee PCM for my buddy who is on crutches and couldn't go looking for himself. We tried Largo and Clearwater first, but to no avail. The Tampa yard had 4 potential donor Jeeps, but they too were picked over. In fact, that is a common theme I remember about this location. Because this yard serves all of Hillsborough and the eastern Tampa bay counties, you've got to get out there on the day your target vehicle arrives, or you're screwed. A few days ago I researched online what local junkyard might have the year and model car I needed to find a part on.I saw online that LKQ in Tampa had two. The part I needed was the front driver side, inner seat belt receptacle. The LKQ site lists a seat belt harness for $9.11. When I got there most of the vehicles had already been thoroughly picked over. I found a seat belt receptacle that wasn't exactly what I needed, but thought maybe I could make it work. When I checked out they charged me the $9.11 for the full harness. I thought since I took just the receptacle they would charge half the $9.11, but no. I went on home and found that the part was not going to work for me. I checked the receipt and it said I could return it as long as I had the receipt. Since it is a 10 mile drive I even called ahead and asked if I could indeed return the part. The woman on the line said yes since I just got it this morning and have the receipt it should be no problem. So I jumped in the car and made the drive, but when I arrived I was asked where was the yellow mark on the part. I asked what yellow mark? I never saw any yellow mark. They said yes it can only be returned if it has a yellow mark. I said I knew nothing of a yellow mark. The woman said they would have to let the manager handle it. The manager was not friendly at all and didn't even look at me. He took the part and my receipt from his employee and went into his office. A few minutes later he came out saying his employee did mark it at check out, but now the part doesn't have the yellow mark so he cannot refund it. I was frustrated none the least and replied that I do not recall any yellow mark being on the part and nothing was said to me at check out about the necessity of a yellow mark and the receipt said nothing about a yellow mark. I explained that I even called ahead to make sure I could return it and was told yes. The manager snootily replied if I don't follow the rules he can't refund the part and he walked away. I threw the part in their junk bucket and said here keep it anyway. I don't need this *** and left. When I got home I searched their website and buried on one page it briefly says the part must be marked along with the receipt. If this is their policy they really ought to say this on the receipt and remind customers this at check out or have a notice by checkout which says the yellow mark is critical for refunding. This was my first and absolutely last time I will ever go back to this dump. They say one thing and do another. Just a bunch of low life scammers. Guess I ought to thank them for turning me on to other more reputable scrap yards in the area. I'd bet my left arm the positive reviews listed along with mine on other review sites were written by the staff there.To anyone reading this, I highly advise you to try other scrap yards and leave LKQ as a last resort and only if you're desperate. read more

I found out about this place from a mechanic when I needed a part for my car. This place sells used car parts at a reasonably low price. We needed a rack and pinion for a older Honda Pilot. I called around to various auto parts store and a new one cost anywhere from $250 - $350. LKQ had the make and model of the vehicle and was able to sell me the part for under $100. The part was in very good condition. But may I suggest you go their with a professional mechanic or with someone who is able to take the part off of the vehicle for you. There is currently a $3 charge per person to go on the lot to get your part. They use to in the past have the car part package already but now you get your own part which I believe is a key factor in keeping the cost down on the parts. So call ahead and see if they have your vehicle make and model before you make a trip there and most importantly bring your tools to get your part. Hello: I went to buy a starter in Tampa store at 5109 causeway boulevard Tampa fl. 33619 and my experience was awful. on 04/08/18 I bought a starter for a mustang. Apparently when I worked with that starter the mark was deleted with dirt, oil etc something completely normal when you work with cars. The starter was not working and the same date I went back to the store to return it but a guy named Abraham was really rude telling me that he do not know if I am a thief. Also said he will not return the money or change it for another one. I went back few more times and they always told me that Mr.Johnson was not there. I called 3 times to 813 248-6198 and explained the problem and they told me they would email him the situation and he will contact me. He never did it. Today I went back to the store again and Mr. Johnson was there ,I spoke to him and he took me to the video room and show me when I bought the starter was marked" I asked to see it clearly and his response was FUCK YOU , GET OUT OF HERE" many times in front of the employees and very loud. I just can't believe that was happening to me. unprofessional personnel you have working for you. With very poor problem solving skills. I was discriminated as a hispanic person because he told me to speak clear english to him. then he said If you want your $40 dollars back you have to bring a lawyer. I never got past the entrance because I was baby wearing my one year old son. As soon as I walked in the lady yells at me "she can't come in!" And before I said anything else she instructed me to turn around and read the sign, which read "no children under 16." I checked the website before heading out to make sure it didn't say children were not allowed, and it said nothing about it. Sorry I wasted the 30 minutes drive time. I got there early in the morning so I was able to pull the engine block relatively close to the front. If I have gotten there any later I might have missed out, so if your planing on going might want to go early. Only negitve thing I would say is the employee that checked my parts before checkout was rude. Regardless if she was having a bad day or not. If you don't like your job then go find another.
