There is so much that goes into hiring vendors and making sure that your big day goes smoothly; Audrey and her team did so many things that made me so happy that we had them on our big day. 1) Service, both before AND day of event. Ok so Audrey was super responsive to all of our needs prior to our big day. She helped us navigate what we wanted and used her expertise to make sure our vision (which wasn't always clear) was executed to perfection day of. We wanted to do a sake bonzai toast at our wedding to honor our Japanese heritage. Audrey made it happen! It was a super cool and unique thing that we weren't sure could happen, but Audrey and her team cam through and figured out all of the logistics. Another extra thing that she went above and beyond on which I really appreciated were consultation calls while we purchased our alcohol. We were literally in Costco, buying supplies and had Audrey on the phone to help us. On the big day, Audrey or someone from her team personally checked in with the groom and myself approximately every 30 minutes to make sure were were well hydrated and taken care of. AMAZIING! 2) Staff. Her staff was professional and fun! Our guests raved how efficient her staff were at getting drinks out, how they added to the fun atmosphere of the day, and how smoothly everything ran at the bars in general. There were rarely lines and backups, even during cocktail hour rushes. Overall just really good people who are good at their jobs. 3) Drinks. They were delish. Our signature cocktails were on point. We postponed one year so we got married in Sept 2021. I had to move all my vendors, which I did so successfully. I started reaching out to anyone and everyone and to my surprise, I still had a lot of options. I got on the phone with Avrey and he was the first person that really put my mind at ease and made it clear that he could and would do his best to mostly match the menu I had already created and work with me on budget that I already had. He was such a fabulous person to talk to and work with; I just felt really at ease and like my opinions and needs were being taken care of. I'm also in the service business, and I admired the way he was treating me as a potential client. I ended up signing with them and the proposal process was very clear, professional, and smooth. Then he met my wedding planner, and she also thoroughly enjoyed working with Avrey and his team, and that was impressive to me. Then comes the wedding day - holy crap - I had SO MANY people come up to me and tell me not only that the food was absolutely phenomenal (we had a taco bar and delicious apps), but that anyone who ran into one of the catering team members was so impressed by them. I had brought my own bartender, a friend of the family, and she also had nothing but great things to say about the catering team. I later found out that we ran out of margaritas that we had premade, and Avrey said great we'll make more. I am still not even aware of what ingredients we had and didn't have, but somehow they made more. So to be clear, his team went back and juiced a ton of limes and made more batches of margaritas, which they were never responsible for in our contract/plans. My parents and some family friends did a lot of the take-down of the wedding. The catering staffed helped them tremendously - again, not their job. They helped box up extra wine, extra food, and even carry it to my parents car and help them load. The food was INCREDIBLE, and it was so beautifully presented; the team was top notch. Your catering team really makes the wedding flow - if they're disorganized or anything less than stellar, so are your and your guests' experiences. I had so many people tell me that this is the best wedding food they've ever had. Avrey is one of the most professional caterers I've come across - his communication is impeccable, and he just cares about doing a good job. However, I definitely don't think that anymore. I am incredibly grateful I enrolled, despite what I had heard, and finished the course! Not only did I receive hands on experience by practicing in their mock bar, but I also was able to learn all types of cocktails, alcohol types, brands, and liqueurs etc quickly. For someone like me, I like to make sure I know how to do things before I get thrown into situations; learning as I go in a work setting can be nerve-wracking so I was very pleased to be able to build up confidence in my pours and counts before I started bartending events. For me, this type of training was imperative before attempting to work at a restaurant. NBS staff is knowledgeable as it gets when it comes to the craft. They're there to encourage and help you whenever you have questions while practicing, which has been helpful to me. They don't just teach you how to make drinks, but they also educate you on how to address customer service situations too (i.e. a very drunk customer and needing to cut them off). They touch all bases in this course. The lessons are very easy to take in and the class schedules are flexible to your own needs. You could finish the course in two weeks if you really put your mind to it, or you can take it slower like I did. Either way, I'm very happy with my decision to have gone to NBS. I've learned so much and now I have been working steadily for events for them! Don't let people tell you bartending school isn't worth it! It definitely is!
