Came here for dinner before a concert at allphones arena. Hadn't booked and the place was full (inside) Waitress was very rushed and asked if we were going to the show, we said yes and then told us to sit outside and to basically order pizza as that was coming out fast. OK... we still had 90 mins till showtime.
Outside seating is on plastic fold up trestle tables and chairs with only ambient street lighting. Had to ask the waiter for the wine list. We ordered a bottle of the pinot GRIS and two glasses of water. Wine arrived rather quickly and was presented to us, we just didn't look at it and said it was fine. more on that later...we also got just one glass of water. I asked a passing waitress for another glass of water.
We placed our orders including garlic bread to start and the waiter took off, no doubt in a panic because we had dared not order the quick and efficient pizzas. 15 minutes later we were still waiting for my glass of water. With that, a waitress walked past on her way to another table and dumped a bowl of garlic bread on the table between us as she passed us. Without a word. 3 pieces of garlic bread for a table of two. WHY do places do this?? Anyhoo...
Sometime later our food arrived. I had the ravioli and other half was having the pumpkin risotto. Strangely, considering how busy and that we hadn't ordered pizza, the wait was reasonable. Besides we had a bottle of wine to pass the time...
Sadly, the ravioli was incredibly bland and overcooked. The only hint of flavour I was getting was from the bits of shaved parmesan on top. The risotto fared a little better but that may be because of the generous amount of pumpkin in it.
As we poured the last of our wine ready to make a move, we noticed the label... Pinot GRIGIO. As I said, neither of us took much attention of the bottle when it was presented to us and the wine was quite lovely anyway so we didnt mind. There was both on the wine list, and the grigio, of course was $4 cheaper than the gris. We asked for the bill to see what would happen. Pinot gris was on the bill. we pointed this out to the "dumper of garlic bread" and showed her the empty bottle of grigio as proof. She was quite apologetic and knew that the grigio was cheaper so went to fix the bill. we paid and were on our way outta there.
The service was questionable. The food was bland, the wine was nice but I do wonder how the Pinot Gris is. best part of the dinner was "Stutter Rap" being played as background music.
