Apple Picking around Thanksgiving has become a thing that my friends and I seem to do. (We always…read moreplan to go, but some reason it always falls around that time... which is handy!) We'd done Appleland before but Great Lakes is another area alternative with no fee for going into the orchard itself. The U-Pick apples are $1.25 a pound, where as the ever popular HoneyCrisp and our preferred Ambrosia are $1.95 a pound. Plus they have wagons so you can drag your apples or your friends around if walking gets too much for you. Feel like just snagging cheap apples? Great, all the variety is in store ready to be bagged at the same price. They have muffins, pie the usual fare but I am not a fan of their pie compared to Appleland one... or heck cheaper than both and equally delicious: Farmboy! But I did use my apples this year to make awesome crisp. Also Apple Sausage Stuffing, Apple Gravy, Apple Sauce.... and still using them up. All told I spend under $15 on farm fresh apples that are making my fall meals to die for! That's a pretty good deal if you ask me.

Some of my favorite items I saw there were coffee mugs with Gustav Klimt designs and a tea pot with attached cup that had Van Gogh's Sunflowers printed on it. I saw so many cute and cool items here! It's a large store and reminds me a bit of Pier One or Cost Plus World Market. It's located right next door to MacLeods Scottish Shop which is also worth checking out. Watson's is a nice shop with lots of unique finds, and I'd definitely suggest checking it out if you are shopping in Stratford.

They have so many different types of plates, glasses and kitchen hodgepodge, I could stay there for hours. Near the back in their bath section they sell extremely cheap lavender satchels for your drawers. In Toronto, those things cost $12.50! I paid $3.50 and stocked up. They also have cheaper items downstairs. The best aspect of this place? Their KITTIES. They have two (used to have more than 2 but I only saw two last time) that lay amongst the china and goods. Often they are sleeping and very receptive to petting, as in they do not wake up and you can pet them forever! The kitties of Watson's are memorials of my childhood. Love it there!

We happened upon this little gem on our trip to Niagara Falls. Never have I met such kind people at…read morea retail store. My boyfriend parked the RV and headed in looking for ice-cream while I gave the dogs a potty break. An older gentleman came out and offered water for my 4 legged babies. He inquired about our trip and let all 3 of us into his office to escape the warm day. My boyfriend did indeed get his ice cream fix and pronounced it DELICIOUS! We purchased some butter as well (haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure it's great) and would love to have tried the cheese curds, but alas, they didn't have any today. The young man in the store was just as kind, and wanted to know all about our trip. We have had nothing but fantastic interactions with everyone we have met along the way in Canada, and this was no exception. If you see the sign for the Dairy on the Highway, take a short 5 min detour and check it out! Grab a snack and something to drink and maybe make a friend along the way!
