That's the only reason why I've included the photo of them on the swings. He was quite insistent that I take the photo. Sweet man :-) There is some tree shade here but don't rely on that. Depending on what time of day you visit, there may be no shade over any of the equipment. The playground area is fully fenced. No dogs allowed. *No dogs allowed*

Unfortunately for you (but yay for the park and the people) there were people using the BBQ and table/chair area so I didn't get a photo of that but it's just in front of the playground, you might be able to see it in the background of some of those photos. I tried to see if there was a drinking fountain. I'm sure there would be one near the BBQ but I couldn't see it and didn't want to intrude to find out. This place had a really nice 'feel' to it too. Perhaps it was the people laughing at their uncoordinated tennis swings, or maybe it was the sight of a group of friends (rather than a family) gathered around the BBQ but I really liked this place. I was super excited as I walked up to it but as I opened the fenced, I was kind of ho-hummed about the playground :-( For such a pretty park area and for such a new playground, I would have thought there would be a lot more to the play equipment than there is. The City of Marion has put in more engaging and elaborate playgrounds in areas with not as many 'extras' (toilets, drinking fountains etc). Perhaps they ran out of money for this area by the time it came to developing a fun playground????? This is a beautiful park, but a highly disappointing playground. There is further construction happening at the other end of the park....hopefully it gets a little more exciting.

The dog park is great. I have taken Hudson (golden retriever) to the park three times and believe…read morethe facility is great. It has tunnels (for the dogs to run through), poles (for the dogs to weave through) and finally it has jumps. This park is fully enclosed with high fences and a double gate. (to ensure that your dog will not run away). the park has taps with bowls (so the dogs can have a drink of water when needed) and it has poopy bags to keep the park clean. this park is great in dryer weather conditions but in winter it gets muddy as the park is not entirely covered with grass and bark (watch out for muddy puddles). If it is raining there are shelters with benches under neath and a concrete floor. The enclosed park is a 24/7 off leash dog park but the rest of the reserve requires the dogs to be on-leash most of the time. for more info on where dogs can and can't be of-leash I suggest checking the website. if you scroll down on the website you will see where you can and can't have your dog off-leash. It's not massive by any means and it isn't the newest playground in the City of Mitcham area but it's a good, solid place to play. It isn't fenced but it is at the bottom of an embankment so little ones aren't likely to run up the hill and onto the busy road. The other road that runs beside it is very quiet. It's so nice to see playgrounds under trees. Not that this one is directly under a tree, but there is a fair bit of shade. When I was there this place had children all over every piece of equipment so I felt a little silly about checking it out too closely. A delightful playground just waiting to be discovered by the little ones and pirate wannabes…read more Nestled in a shady reserve within the Clarence Gardens neighbourhood is a fun and ready to discover pirate ship. Bring your swords, pirate telescope and a clear chest, as you bellow your "Arrrrrrr" to your fellow pirate mates. For those with Spidey skills, take charge over the spidey tower and show off your climbing prowess. Later, take a steep walk along sandy steps till you get to a slippery dip and bowl your way down. A guaranteed dose of joy awaits every player. Plenty of swings, slides and mini rocking horses to gallop away in the sunset. Perfect for a barbie as they have excellent BBQ facilities, a covered area with benches and lots of grassy area to throw a picnic or just take a nanna nap. Don't bring your pooches here as this is strictly for kids!

Remember? At the playground near me when I grew up it was a large egg shape with a big disc in the middle of it that you spun and it spun the whole egg around. In this park it's more like a purple egg cup. Not only is the playground wonderful for a variety of ages, but look at all that lawn area just asking for people to run and kick balls on it! There would be no hesitation in giving this a five star review if it had a drinking fountain, BBQ, shelter and tables. This is definitely a fun place to be!

I couldn't see if there was a drinking fountain but the norm for Mitcham Council is that there wouldn't be one. If you're a local, this may not be a big deal but it's something that I like to see at playgrounds. There isn't a lot of shade apart from that cast by the gorgeous trees but that falls mostly on the lawn area and not the playground. The whole area is fully fenced and while that usually means (for Mitcham Council at least) that dogs aren't allowed, I didn't see any signs saying that.

NBA wannabes can practice their shots here, which promises loads of fun. There is a fairly good size oval next to the playground, perfect for footy and a game of cricket. I've seen many family pitch their games here, much to the cheers of onlookers. Throw a picnic rug here and bask under the sun, or take shelter under the one of many gum trees with a good book in hand. Aside from that, it's a nice enough park. There's a playground and basketball ring, but at the beginning of your basketball game, you might want a drink. Halfway through, you'll want to go to the toilet. Game ruined. It's a game-breaker, people.
