    Calabrese pizza
    Eula B.

My friend and I stumbled upon this place as we looked for a place to eat for dinner. We sat in the patio area since it was nice outside. I didn't see the interior but my friend said it was nice when she went to the washroom. The service was slow, in my opinion. It was hard to grab their attention a couple of times. We ordered bread on to dip on the mussel sauce which took a while to come to our table. We ordered Calabrese pizza and mussels with white wine and pomodoro sauce. The pizza has pomodoro sauce, mozarella, calabrese spicy sausage, and oregano. It was a very simple pizza but I felt like it was missing something. Some spice or an oomf factor. It was still a decent pizza. The mussels were great. Definitely taste the white wine. They served it in a good hefty amount.

I love this place. We put our name on the list to sit outside and the wait was 1 and a half hour. For the location of this restaurant, I wasn't surprised. Then the hostess suggested immediate inside seating and I went inside to check it out and it looked better than on the outside. I convinced the rest of the party (my wife and aunt Terry) and we ended up dinning indoors. The burrata was the first item on the menu and this is what we came in for. The presentation was very nice and even it wasn't as creamy as I would have liked, I thought it was great. Then we had the spicy "ando" sausage pizza, which was amazing along with the PEI muscles. I had couple bites of my wife's veal limone which was great. The complimentary bread wasn't good, but not worth the complain. Finally, we ended at the gelato bar and it was by far the best ice cream I've had. We will come back for this alone. Excellent place! Given the touristic area and the high traffic of new people, this place is doing great.

Classic Italian pepperoni with house made hot peppers on the side.

Bland food. Some flavour would go a one way. Had to ask for bread. Wouldn't come again.

And it's great that they provide summer jobs for students, as mist of their staff are younger generations. It's a nice place to sit down, relax and enjoy a bite or some drinks and also the view. They also have tables inside and you're not obligated to sit on the patio. Their menu includes small bites, seafood options, salads and bowls, sandwiches, pizza and desserts. We ordered "Baja Fish Tacos", "Cheeseburgers Loaded Fries", and "Shrimp Gyoza" and of course cocktails. The food was fresh and delicious. The service can be slow from time to time.

My limbs, hands, nose, etc. were ice cold 30min into our dining experience. I could have used a heated blanket or snow suit to dine this place. We brought it up to staff and they basically brushed it off and said they were hot so "too bad." Ordered oysters and they came out completely submerged underwater. No joke, my oysters were floating in a pool. I think they let them sit in the kitchen for a while before they came out. Considered asking for a fresh order (and they offered) but was worried they would just replate them. Asked for them to be removed from the bill. Not in any hurry to come back... like anytime in the next 8-10yrs. If there was a manger around (never saw one - bunch of kids working), maybe it would be better? Who is the adult in charge at this place? Don't waste your time or money. I hope I don't have the double dragon tonight when I get home.

The place looks like a home that was converted into a restaurant with parking in the back but once you enter, you feel like you are going into one of your Auntie's places for an actual home cooked meal. And they did not disappoint! Each dish was made to order and took a short time but you could tell it was prepared by a chef with a lot of experience and care--just looking at how the veggies were chopped/diced you can see they put their energy into each dish. The flavors were really superb and not at all overpowering and one major bonus--nothing was over salted or over oily as you might think typical Chinese food can get. Our party of 4 loved every bite and finished all our dishes, no leftovers. As you can see in the photos, they make an excellent meal. Prices are also very affordable and competitive with anything near the touristy areas. So if you want a solid, great meal prepared by a true mom & pop kitchen that feels like a home cooked meal, you really gotta try them out. I asked them how business was in summer vs winter and they said it's tough when it's winter (less tourists) but they make it work. It's also nice and quiet/intimate so you can have an actual conversation with your group rather than try to talk over some loud music at a chain restaurant! ----TL;DR---- Pros: excellent Chinese cuisine at very affordable prices and great portions. Not too salty or oily. And super nice, friendly owners who provide great service and great food. Cons: not easy to walk to from the main strip but if you have a car it's an easy drive. Skip the touristy places and come here! Bottom Line: it was the best meal we had in Niagara Falls and everyone was full and satisfied. I'd definitely go back again.

Service was slow and there was really only person trying to handle everybody. We were told to simply write down the numbers associated with the meals listed in the menu because the waiter was too busy and seemed to have limited English. Although the waiter vacuumed the floor by a previously used table he was able to get to bus or clear that table left with dishes from a previous diner. So the ambiance was marred by the lack of staff to clear the tables. We were treated with an extra dish of four hot and spicy fried shrimp and took it home because we were too full to eat any more because we still had some lobster left over.

Nestled along the shores of Lake Ontario in Vineland, this storied establishment, housed in a structure dating to 1867, has become one of those places that quietly lodges itself in the memory and refuses to leave. We made the drive -- well over an hour -- for a Sunday brunch, and not for the first time. It is the kind of restaurant one finds oneself recommending without hesitation, not as a curiosity or a seasonal indulgence, but as a benchmark. The setting alone would justify the journey: a sweeping, unobstructed view of the lake from the sunroom and patio that shifts in character with the light, the season, and the mood of the sky above. On a clear day, the Toronto skyline is visible on the horizon -- an almost implausible grace note. But Lake House does not rest on its scenery. The kitchen demonstrates genuine culinary ambition with a menu that draws from Mediterranean traditions while remaining grounded in local and seasonal sensibility. The salmon crab cakes -- a pairing that sounds indulgent and delivers accordingly -- arrive with a pineapple and mango chutney and sriracha aioli that balance richness with levity. The Great Canadian Burger is a study in considered indulgence: brioche, peameal bacon, sweet bacon jam, and spiced maple aioli achieving a harmony of sweetness, heat, and savoriness that lingers well past the last bite. The service matched the occasion throughout. From the welcome at the door to our server Rhonda -- attentive, warm, and precisely calibrated in her pacing -- to the supervisor who moved quietly through the room ensuring that every table was well attended, the floor operates with the kind of seamless, unhurried care that is too often mistaken for effortlessness. It is not effortless. It is practiced and deliberate, and all the more impressive for it. Lake House Restaurant is a destination that justifies the drive, rewards the return, and -- in a dining landscape where so few establishments manage all three -- that is no small thing.

If you enjoy condiments the semolina crusted calamari ($26) comes with four dipping sauces:…read moresweet-curried aioli, sweet chili, basil pesto aioli, and sriracha aioli. It would've been nice if at least one packed a bit of heat, but they're all tame, adding flavour without overpowering the squid. Thankfully, the semolina crust was excellent - crunchy, light, and not oily at all. The portion is generous and easily shareable between two or three people. A newer addition to the menu is the short rib sandwich ($34), and it's a good one. Large chunks of tender, flavourful beef are topped with sautéed mushrooms, crispy onions, arugula, and brie. The cheese adds a creamy richness that makes the sandwich stand out. The menu notes a horseradish aioli, but any zing from it gets buried under the slightly sweet braising sauce, which was too sugary for my taste. I would've preferred it kept more savoury. The sandwich is already quite saucy, and yet more sauce arrives on the side. Good for fries if you choose to switch the salad to spuds. After hearing plenty about the Great Canadian Burger ($29), I couldn't resist splitting one, though I ultimately wish I hadn't. The short rib sandwich is better. The burger is hefty, with a thick beef patty that's overly dense and heavily mixed, giving it more of a frozen-patty texture than the crumbly tenderness of a good homemade one. The potato bun also struggled to hold up against the avalanche of toppings: grilled peameal bacon, cheddar, onion, tomato, arugula, pickle, and two sauces. I'm not sure why the kitchen insists on sweetening everything - the burger comes with caramelized onion bacon jam and a maple chipotle aioli, both quite sugary. If you enjoy sweeter savoury dishes, you'll probably like it. Otherwise, I'd skip the handhelds. On our weekday lunch visit, the restaurant was well staffed and attentive. Even though we never felt rushed, we were in and out within about an hour. If anything, the service bordered on overly attentive... during that hour we were interrupted six times by four different people checking if everything was okay. My suggestion: let the primary server handle most of the check-ins, and only have others step in if things get busy.
