It was such a treat to try a guitar lesson here at Bravo! My daughter wanted to continue learning…read morethe guitar since playing for about 2 years. She connected well with the teacher here. The teacher was knowledgable, patient and engaged and provided feedback tips. We tried a few places in around the South Bay and she only wanted to come back here to Bravo :). Thank you and we look forward being a student here!

Review #856 2025-028…read more This is an old review drafted just before COVID-19 lockdown & forgot to finish my thoughts. My daughter, going through her Jack of all trades & master of none at the time, was thinking of trying an instrument: violin or piano. We didn't have the space for a piano but could do a keyboard, & was debating over the violin. I did a search & found Bravo! Music School; the school had a roster of 15 teachers with a wide variety of instruments, including guzheng (古筝), a Chinese plucked zither. I spoke with Melissa, the receptionist & owner's daughter, who suggested my almost 4 YO might be interested in their weekly Saturday Pre-K music class (can't remember the exact name), teaching music fundamentals & games with parent participation. I think it either 5 or 6 weeks? Parents & children play instruments, games, dance, etc. I also purchased an intro lesson & waited until H was ready for the intro; the instrument wasn't specified as long as we made a reservation & the teacher was available. M had a good ol' time in class with toddlers more or less his age. His musicality was a tad off, but he loved the music that he was making. One time when we were waiting for class to start, Teacher Michael was showing my LO alternative ways to drum (table, box, magazines) & he made beats happen... M was nodding & shaking along. It was soooooo cute! Then COVID-19 happened, followed by a lockdown. M missed out on possible drumming lessons & grew out of this interest by the time we felt comfortable going out. We never tried that violin intro & when H started middle school, she signed up for band (playing the flute) & I had forgotten about the paid intro lesson. Fast forward 4 years later, I was going through my drafts & saw BMS bookmarked & rough drafted that I contacted the school & asked to redeem lesson. Melissa no longer works at the school, & Jihi (assuming she's the current receptionist) couldn't find my 2019 deposit receipt. It took a couple of back & forth calls/texts before it was located & added back to their system because we're not active/regulars. We booked a 30-min. flute lesson with Teacher Colleen on 11/20/23; at this time, H was in 8th grade & has been a flutist for 2+ years. It no longer sounds like noise, but music, though the transitions are noticeable & not fluid. I'm hoping with some pointers, she can improve her skills & discover her passion for playing. She does enjoy the concerts & occasional competitions with the perk of playing/marching at an amusement park, then staying the day for play. Teacher Colleen was warm & welcoming, allowing me to sit-in on the lesson. The private room was tight & being in that proximity to their flutes was a bit much for my ears, but I get a personal view of the music school's lesson, techniques, & teacher's personality. Colleen is skilled in directing & instructing H, working on her tempo & musicality, as well as providing immediate feedback for her to improve on the next measure. I would have loved for H to continue with private lessons (reasonable rates: $356.96/8 lessons: $46/lesson - 3% discount) but she wasn't committed to learning/improving her skills; I later found out she was only interested in band for their extracurricular activities. Bravo! Music School teaches piano, violin, guitar/ukulele, vocals, drumset, guzheng, & band instruments. Through The Strings Connection, on-site rental & sale of violin family instruments are offered; the rental program is ideal for younger students that might not be ready for a commitment or trading up to larger sized instruments. Contact Cordi/The Strings Connection at 310-377-0803 for more info. Lessons are offered onsite or online at an introductory rate for the 1st lesson, & the same options are available for private lessons that are independently created by each teacher for every student. General Policy & Payment/Scheduling: When signing policy, you're also granting any video, audio, or photos taken by The School may be used in their marketing efforts. $50 cash/credit card deposit per family to guarantee lesson appointment times; deposit is refunded at the final lesson. Teacher Substitution: The School will either provide a substitute or reschedule the lesson. If you're looking to introduce music & specialized lessons for your child, I recommend Bravo! Music School to provide the musical education that you're seeking.

Met Jim in 1978-9 as the 'best' guy by The LB Arena and all of us playing hard out of…read moreGilmore's,World of Strings(he was their best dude), Whittiker's, McCabe's, Morey's,Guitars Afire,Music City and on and on. Jim is INCREDIBLY talented and smart. He has a heart of Gold and is honest as the day is long too. His time is very valuable and he is 75 now. I urge him to charge a lot more because he deserves it and is very well worth it ! So the news is maybe a great thing for all of us, looking forward. I called to say, no rush on my axes, let us help? Apparently. his landlord decided to remodel for more profit, despite being lousy. Poor Jims doors were broken, HVAC full of issues, and anyway. All Jims inventory is safe, secure, carefully placed and he is there, in a special new place, for a while, by appointment. He also needs us to find him a managable storefront, and maybe a nice dwelling in or close. The few weird comments I have seen are, well..."I left my acoustic guitar,no name, and expect a 100 tune up or so and called.called and maybe did not get the hint? The best guy in the business is in no huge rush for $100 tune up? 'I'm sore unaware that the poor guy is very polite but is staring at investing a lot of money and may spend days, fabricating a special, specific jig for this work? Maybe check yourself and let players and Luthiers or techs round this reasoning . Jim is not in this for the money and will tell old friends this. Collecting, buying, selling or tossing instruments kind of includes the ability and experience to judge, then think like a business person. Or a Luthier. Offer another Luthier a 1,000 for the making you a special Jig and have Jim sign it. It will be worth a lot more money some day, amigo. Then get it fixed for a great price, and you take the jig home, and find other no name 6 string guys to share it, ya know? If it ain't workin' as some say, well? Buy a better axe. Invest in a Gibson, Fender, Martin, Ovation or one of Segovia's students instruments? Sounds like glued and pressed and baked composite wood from China or Viet Bong. If you want to play, buy a real guitar with one piece neck and body, and invest in nice tone and better playing maybe ? Handing cheap junk to the Master kind of insults his friends intelligence when blasted around the world and unfair. There is a speaker seeker in oh no panic mode too. Google Jim, big news,,THE LA SHERIFF has formerly filed and served an official eviction demand and bla bla who gives a duck. Those who know, know and this will all work out. Sherifs serve people all day and night.Normal rental ending Due Process,Notice and this gang has rats all over the poor guy too? Don't be a rat. Be a musician, and artist. A gift . Dudes, dudettes, please just remember, slander and libel is a real means of business tort(Civil wrong=Pay. Honest opinions are 1 thing, but innuendo, distortions, false facts or omissons of fair, neglected facts is important. Objective, detached balanced reporting is key, and a duty, in Californa. I have maybe,$60-70,000 worth of my children with Jim right now, museum pieces I have loved since 19 79 and 1984. A black Clapton Strat kind of. Bad Ass black Maple neck with old school EMG's, the original type, plus, the originals for trade in, out. My V neck, hard tail (rare), Blonde, 1956 dream mobile. Birthday gift from my best brother. Neck says 1/56 and it is really, too bitchin to sweat on ! The original tweed case they claim fetches 3500-4500...no way....but Yes way.. Simple point? ONLY Jim is EVER going to tune these up. I trust and value him, endorse him fully and many many are calling him for a well deserved, and hard earned accolade...WE LOVE HIM. Thus, ; 'Do you need anything Jim?Can I, or WE,help you reloacte, find a new cool place?" Yesterday he sounded really happy, and like, wow ! He said; 'I can't believe how many kind people are calling me to volunteer help, work for me, do whatever, show friendship'. I said;"Jim, you have a huge friends and fans base and are so modest and cool, it was just out there waiting for you to need to hear about it,maybe ?" "You are a legend dude, and loved !'' Maybe get on that train, and in to the next Chapter of Music History, we feel ? Bless you Jim ! We need a 1) Power pack at the storage vault for lights, and machinery. A nice home and why not, there is definitely a cool Lady around the Music Industry to share the best things of life a little?'' Food, paperwork, errands, whatever frees him up to do his Art. Many wish he could DELEGATE related cool things, like what NORM's always did? Have a separate piece of the buy and sell world. Detached but connected? T SHIRTS Jim? Just an Image of you at your bench doing what Wizard;s Do. And dudes, Jim was a GOOD player? Up in Berkley, he needs to play too?Sit in with Jim now and then? Why not. Jim is like a Hendrix in our world that we much cherish and respect, Play on James (3rd stone from the sun). I'm in...

I started my youngest so here because I felt his previous school did not do justice to him when it came to teaching him. He fell behind. Then covid hit and it became worse. I was so sad for him and it made me cry. I decided one day to give Sylvan a try knowing what it did for my sister and I growing up. Needless to say, my son has grown so much and has gained this unprecedented confidence towards learning like never before. He is now reading little things here and there, has met his goals and passed some in school and sylvan. He used to cry when you mention homework, now he gets to it before I do. After seeing his progree, I also enrolled his older brother. Same result. He has always been a studious kid, but statred lacking amidst covid. His parent-teacher conference recently showed my how well sylvan has really helped him improve. His teacher was so very proud of his quick progree and turn-around. He is happy and his confidence in himself has returned and that makes me even more happy. I am truly appreciative, grateful, and thankful to sylvan and their amazing tutors for all their work and deligence.
