Review #856 2025-028 This is an old review drafted just before COVID-19 lockdown & forgot to finish my thoughts. My daughter, going through her Jack of all trades & master of none at the time, was thinking of trying an instrument: violin or piano. We didn't have the space for a piano but could do a keyboard, & was debating over the violin. I did a search & found Bravo! Music School; the school had a roster of 15 teachers with a wide variety of instruments, including guzheng (古筝), a Chinese plucked zither. I spoke with Melissa, the receptionist & owner's daughter, who suggested my almost 4 YO might be interested in their weekly Saturday Pre-K music class (can't remember the exact name), teaching music fundamentals & games with parent participation. I think it either 5 or 6 weeks? Parents & children play instruments, games, dance, etc. I also purchased an intro lesson & waited until H was ready for the intro; the instrument wasn't specified as long as we made a reservation & the teacher was available. M had a good ol' time in class with toddlers more or less his age. His musicality was a tad off, but he loved the music that he was making. One time when we were waiting for class to start, Teacher Michael was showing my LO alternative ways to drum (table, box, magazines) & he made beats happen... M was nodding & shaking along. It was soooooo cute! Then COVID-19 happened, followed by a lockdown. M missed out on possible drumming lessons & grew out of this interest by the time we felt comfortable going out. We never tried that violin intro & when H started middle school, she signed up for band (playing the flute) & I had forgotten about the paid intro lesson. Fast forward 4 years later, I was going through my drafts & saw BMS bookmarked & rough drafted that I contacted the school & asked to redeem lesson. Melissa no longer works at the school, & Jihi (assuming she's the current receptionist) couldn't find my 2019 deposit receipt. It took a couple of back & forth calls/texts before it was located & added back to their system because we're not active/regulars. We booked a 30-min. flute lesson with Teacher Colleen on 11/20/23; at this time, H was in 8th grade & has been a flutist for 2+ years. It no longer sounds like noise, but music, though the transitions are noticeable & not fluid. I'm hoping with some pointers, she can improve her skills & discover her passion for playing. She does enjoy the concerts & occasional competitions with the perk of playing/marching at an amusement park, then staying the day for play. Teacher Colleen was warm & welcoming, allowing me to sit-in on the lesson. The private room was tight & being in that proximity to their flutes was a bit much for my ears, but I get a personal view of the music school's lesson, techniques, & teacher's personality. Colleen is skilled in directing & instructing H, working on her tempo & musicality, as well as providing immediate feedback for her to improve on the next measure. I would have loved for H to continue with private lessons (reasonable rates: $356.96/8 lessons: $46/lesson - 3% discount) but she wasn't committed to learning/improving her skills; I later found out she was only interested in band for their extracurricular activities. Bravo! Music School teaches piano, violin, guitar/ukulele, vocals, drumset, guzheng, & band instruments. Through The Strings Connection, on-site rental & sale of violin family instruments are offered; the rental program is ideal for younger students that might not be ready for a commitment or trading up to larger sized instruments. It was such a treat to try a guitar lesson here at Bravo! My daughter wanted to continue learning the guitar since playing for about 2 years. She connected well with the teacher here. The teacher was knowledgable, patient and engaged and provided feedback tips. We tried a few places in around the South Bay and she only wanted to come back here to Bravo :). Bravo! is a phenomenal music school that values it's students and families. My daughter started attending their piano instruction in 2021 at the age of 7. They've since always made sure her instructor was meeting her needs, personality wise and technically. They also hold recitals often so the kids always have something to work towards. My son has tried many music school in South Bay. I am so happy I found Bravo Music school, this school is very well organized and clean, with overall welcoming vibes. My daughter has been going to Bravo Music School for violin lessons since the summer of 2018. She has had an amazing experience with her teachers. The school staff is very welcoming and they have very reasonable policies regarding cancellations. The students have the opportunity to preform in recitals a couple of times a year. By luck I found bravo music school. I was searching for music school and was directed to Bravo music school by a sales person at Sam Ash. I immediately felt at ease with the school. Melissa who is the owners daughter went over pricing with me. I was blown away how reasonable the rates were. We showed up the next day for a singing lessons and again a few days later for saxophone lessons. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner Dan as well some of the other students parents. I've been taking flute lessons with Colleen for about 2 months now as an adult beginner. She makes me feel really comfortable and her enthusiasm makes me look forward to every lesson. I could barely make a sound on the flute when I first started, but I've progressed a lot so far. She gives me extra pieces to work on so I always have more interesting things to practice. They also have many instructors available with a flexible schedule and you're welcome to try different ones if you like. Coming to Bravo really helps motivate me to practice and improve! read more

I just called them to book a violin lesson and all was going well until I mentioned that I needed a patient instructor for my high functioning spectrum son (who excels on everything he does) and their tone immediately changed and told me that I needed to I interview with the owner in order to get a lesson. Their attitude was very discriminatory towards my special needs child - What kind of business does that??? I will not recommend to anyone a type of business that cannot exercise kindness and understanding. read more

We've been with Bravo several years now and very happy. They made a real effort to find the right teacher for each of my kids. They were also flexible with scheduling and have gone above and beyond to support us during the pandemic. My kids have really liked all their teachers. My sons have been taking violin lessons at Bravo for 3 years now. Extremely happy with the facilities and teacher Shura. Dan tries his best to provide the best possible environment for the learning. Dan has also time and again setup recitals every quarter to provide opportunities for students to showcase their skills and enhance their abilities to perform in a stage setting. Despite the pandemic, Bravo has made arrangements to help students continue with their lessons remotely. Best music school in the area! Nice, clean facility with plenty of studios for private lessons. Piano teachers Jung and June are highly experienced and work well with kids of all ages. Colleen is friendly and helpful at the front desk and also teaches a few instruments. Kids and adults take lessons there on just about any common instrument. You can have live in-person lessons according to CDC and LA County guidelines or can take online instruction from home. Online was unique for my son's piano lessons because he and the instructor could each have their own pianos. My younger kid does better with in-person instruction so she goes to the school and has been happy and eager to practice on her own. Bravo offered us a discounted first lesson to try them out. If you want to continue, you can get the 8-lesson package that makes the price per lesson cheaper than most music schools. Check them out and you won't be disappointed! read more

I Appreciate Mr Dan very much! A year and four months ago, at the Sam Ash Music Store, I spent almost $600 on a clarinet for my son Allen. I knew nothing about the clarinet, so I just paid to take it away from the store. But Allen always complained that his clarinet tone was Flat, but I just thought it was because he didn't play well. Until a chance Allen came to Bravo Music School to learn to play the clarinet with Mr Dan. Mr Dan thought there was something wrong with the clarinet, so he accompanied us to the SamAsh Store, told the clerk there was something wrong with the clarinet sold to us with his professional knowledge, and patiently adjusted the tone of the clarinet. The warranty period of one year has passed. The store could not replace Clarinet with a new one. But at the insistence of Mr Dan, the store replaced Clarinet parts for free. Now my son can make the right sound very easily with the fixed clarinet. Thank you very much. Mr Dan! You are such a wonderful teacher! I am happy we found Bravo Music School! read more
