Hello,
I totally agree with Max M., Piano Vertu really covers everything you need, used or new, from the established brands to the most high-end ones and, above all, you get real service provided by musicians and not merchants.
In my case, I had been in the market for a few years for a used upright and was really interested in buying a Yamaha U3. It turns out that the new Piano Vertu Montreal store is very close to my house so I paid them a few visits and since the owners are truly nice and knowledgeable as well as perfectionist (which truly suited my taste and my personal approach), I naturally gained trust in them and rapidly became interested in considering the options they offered me.
It turned out that at the time, they also had an older U5, which is extremely rare to come by nowadays. So I played on it two or three times on different days and it was obvious to me that this was a higher-grade piano than the U3 (as the owners had told me). A brand new upright of comparable quality would have cost me around $20,000 (everything included) and the one the store had at the time was perfect for me, since it was a used one and exactly what I was looking for, plus it was brown, a relative rarity in this era where most pianos are finished in polished black. I paid $4,300 (about $5,000 with taxes) for my U5, I can tell you it sounds as good and as richly as many small uprights, and it also came with a very advantageous warranty. So for my needs, I actually got more than I could have hoped for in every regard!
New or used, it seems to me Piano Vertu prices are quite below the market. Personally I much prefer having bought my used piano in a store which also provided me with a warranty and where the owners are in it not only for the business but also for the music. I know all the music stores in Montreal and I've met many nice salespeople over the years, and all I can tell you is that Piano Vertu owners are among the nicest and the most knowledgeable I've ever dealt with and they will most likely also make you save lots of money, the bottom line being, what everyone wants is the best possible piano for the best possible price, and I truly believe, relying on the numbers I had been researching for the past two or three years (including the private owners market), that Piano Vertu is the best in that regard. read more
