In any case, I'd recommend a liter for two people. Service was great. They didn't mind that we took our time. I never felt rushed. By 9pm there was a wait, so come early. Not a great place for large groups, but parties of 4 or less won't have a problem.

Italy changed since my trip in 2008, however these restaurants have not. Saragozza is another tapas and small plates restaurant and getaway in the Piazza Di Porta Saragozza! There is famous chef and general manager (owner duh) of Vivo Vicenzo! His name is Vicenzo Vottero (sound familiar?) and he has a Facebook page that is poppin' with more insight and useful reviews and information on his food. He also is found mostly on Instagram and makes pretty upscale and palatable dishes. His restaurant is only STREET PARKING, and once you get that nightmare out of the way, you're finally greeted inside by some of the most sweet and kind staff ever!! The lobby inside is very glowing and blue. Super pretty with dim lights at the doorway, but brighter in the bar lounge. There are many bartenders who will make you wonderful margaritas and cocktails. the dishes is what really makes me my jaw drop. Every piece of delectable small plate is presented with such carefulness and art itself. I think every bite holds a unique taste. My Black Lemon Risotto dish was excellent, very creamy, gingery and super lemony for sure. But it was a wonderful type of lemon taste. The Spaghetti was very juicy, long strands of pasta, rich, ripe and roasted. You can taste the side of pesto. The restaurant is very romantic and super attractive. Just to note, they do have regular meals available too. We ordered a jug of the White Sangria (which came out along with a trio of nuts and bread for us to nibble on). Their tapas menu is divided into two - half italian and half spanish, which was perfect. We ordered the seafood paella, the avocado, cucumber and feta salad and the bruschetta will grilled vegetables. All very delicious and the flavours worked really well together! I went inside and complimented the Chef (Manuel) who didn't speak an ounce of English but welcomed the compliments all the same (the waitress managed to translate what i was unable to). Manuel then sent out a small plate of biscotti for us as a sign of appreciation which was just lovely and very unexpected. I have to say that I am surprised that before my review I was unable to find this restaurant on Yelp, but feel incredibly honoured to pop this little baby up here so no one else misses out on the delicious food here! You can get pasta and pizza everywhere, so it is nice for a change of pace. Bravo!

They brought us their lovely handwritten English menu and we ordered the house wine, the lampredotto meatballs to try the typical Florentine meat, the potato dumplings/gnocchi with tomato & courgette, penne with tomato and lard of colonnata, and tiramisu for dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection. The little jar of fresh Parmesan was a nice and yummy touch! Something about the homeyness of the place and the buzz of the surrounding dinner conversations had us staying for 2 hours enjoying our wine. Would love to come back sometime in the future.

We have visited Firenze several times over the…read moreyears, and we have rented a lovely apartment for a month's stay near the Piazza di Santa Maria Novella this Spring ... to study Italian and explore the area. We have both favorite dishes and favorite local restaurants for those dishes. We generally avoid strictly touristy areas, but we ventured out to the Piazza just for a cocktail ... seeking a nostalgic "White Russian" drink which we'd not had in a number of years. We hesitated stopping at La Buona Novella because just a single family was dining on its lovely outdoor terrace. However, because we liked both the nearby piazza singer & his song choices, along with the fact we were assured the restaurant offered a good White Russian, we stayed. We ordered two drinks ... stunned when receiving a bill of 36 EUR (presently equivalent to 39.20 USD). Also, we've since learned that every other restaurant & bar there at the Piazza sells a White Russian drink for 9 EUR; i.e., half the price! When we complained about the 36 EUR cost of the two drinks, the server stated the price is exorbitant because the Grand Hotel Minerva is a 4-star hotel and, thus, can demand high prices. He further stated, "I don't set the prices!" Perhaps management will be less flippant in responding to our complaint ... and may, at least, have input on needed (downward!) adjustments to the restaurant's current drink prices. Charging 18 EUR for a single White Russian cocktail is simply too much! Price adjustments may very well result in increased business.
