First time there, always dread walk in clinics because you can pretty much assume your day is going to be a waste. Friendly staff, quick service! Checked in, was told there was an hour wait (not horrible) but then learned that you can check in on line and be given a time to come in. Another option when checking in, they will text you when you are ready to be seen. They really have the system perfected. I definitely was in and out before the expected wait time had passed. I didn't even get to watch the outcome of "Fixer Upper" on HGTV. :( All of the staff were friendly. read more

I just moved to the area and, although I have a primary care physician, my first appointment is at the end of June. In the meantime, I developed a nasty rash that I couldn't wait on. I called Physician One and got an appointment right away. I registered my insurance paperwork on line (which was relatively straightforward. I checked in via the app. I was sitting in the waiting area no more than a few minutes when I got to see the doctor. I showed him the rash and he knew exactly how to treat it with over-the-counter medication. He was right on the money because it started clearing up within a very short time. I scheduled an appointment online. I showed up early and checked in and everything was all set. I was taken in 40 minutes late. I understand a little bit of a wait but several walk ins were taken before me. My type of care was urgent so I wasn't sure if that was a reason why but just frustrating when you schedule an appointment and it still takes that long. Arrived at 6:30 for cough and chest pain for my son. At check-in we were told there was a 90 minute wait. Even though there were only 3 more patients in the building. Then we were informed vitals and labs can be done onsite but the doctor will be virtual. Desperate to get seen today we agreed to the appointment. Waited 30 minutes in waiting room to be brought back only for inaccurate vitals to be taken. Then we waited past 8:10pm in a room in front of an iPad and still no doctor. We had to leave because they were locking up for the night. During this 90 minute visit we never saw a doctor or got a diagnosis but only to be told that a doctor will call later. I had to go the Pequot to actually get treatment. I do not recommend this place to anyone who values their health. As an example they stated body temperature to be 98.7 however ER noted it to be 102. read more

RUDE!! Absolutely rude and bad bedside manners. I brought my daughter in to get tested because her teacher and students in her school tested positive. Like many parents I struggle with trying to make my 2, 3 and 5 year old wear a mask. They end up taking them off and dropping them on the ground and I toss them. After being put in a room the nurse that came in was very short and unpleasant with us she even seemed annoyed. After she took my daughters vitals she left the room to get the dr. ,30min later the dr comes in extremely rude and points to my 2 year old son and said he needs to have a mask on THEY ALL DO!! she then said he tested positive for Covid!! I told her he isn't the one that got tested it was my daughter. I asked, so is she positive? The dr was short with me and said yes then cut me off and asked me if I was vaccinated. I was so shocked at how rude she was and her bad bedside manners that I cut her off and said excuse me!! My kids had masks and I had to throw them out because they broke them and they fell on the ground but if you have some I will be more than happy to give it to them, second my family had Covid over 7 months ago so I am very familiar with what to do, my daughter was the only one that came back negative at that time. The dr then put the paper work on the counter and said mandatory quarantine for 14 days and started to walk out. I had to stop her and ask if those were my copies and she said yes then walked out. I gathered my things and my kids to walk out and she stopped me and said wait I have to give you your discharge papers. The look on the faces of the staff there wasn't pleasant either as if they were all annoyed or bothered. I would rather wait in the ER at the hospital for 2 hours than to deal with people like that ever again! I will NEVER go back there again! Shame on them! Shame on that physician named Joanna Breton!! Initially showed up for a pre-employment screening, and despite the stated hours of operation and no need for an appointment, they wouldn't see me. The waiting room was empty and all the nurses were just sitting around on their phones behind the counter, but they still gave me some excuse about not having enough time despite it being three hours before their stated end time. Reluctantly, I returned the next day earlier than I had previously, and they were able to see me. The nurse on my case was slow, and had a hard time processing my work. Her English was dicey, and I felt like she didn't really know what she was doing. I actually saw her put the wrong label on one canister, and I had to write my name on it to fix the error. Thankfully, this was just an employment screening and nothing life-threatening or realistically "urgent," or else I really don't know how confident I'd be with their competency. I'm glad I only had to go here once, and will not return unless my life literally depended on it. read more

We were there last night for a broken arm and saw Dr. Maheshwari. The doctor, the nurse, and x-ray tech were all super friendly and fast and made my five year old feel very comfortable. I was not impressed with my visit here! My daughter had a high fever with URI symptoms. I asked for her to be tested for flu and RSV and i was told no. Our visit was about 30 seconds long, didn't feel that the pediatric work up was thorough. I'm a huge believer of sticking with primary care and not going to urgent cares unless needed, but unfortunately we are recently from another state and had not established yet, but this just reinforced that opinion. Awful experience. On Monday I booked an appointment for 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. I arrived (after 4 text messages reminding me of my appointment, urging me to check in on line, etc.) at 12:10 p.m. I was not seen by anyone until 1:30 p.m. It was obvious to me that they were overbooked, but didn't bother to let me know in advance that they were running behind. My injury required x-rays, and when the doctor saw me afterwards he made a referral and offered to give me the x-rays to take. She not only didn't believe my symptoms, but was incredibly rude by scoffing and mocking when I described my symptoms. When my visiting mom developed what we suspected was a UTI, we were reluctant to visit an emergency room for what was clearly not a life-threatening condition. A quick internet search on "urgent care" landed us at the PhysicianOne site and we were able to locate the nearest center. The site also gave us very complete information about what to expect, what sort of treatments and care could be rendered, the business hours, and phone number. It even provided downloadable registration forms, so we could get a jump on the process! No appointment necessary. Mom grabbed her photo id, insurance card, and a credit card (as instructed by the website), and we were off before rush hour traffic cleared. Upon arrival in the spacious, sparkling clean waiting area, mom was greeted by a friendly receptionist, who confirmed the information on her registration forms. A short (10 minutes at most) wait later, she was called in to see the doctor. After obtaining and processing a urinalysis -- there's on-site x-rays, labs, and pharmacy! -- a UTI was confirmed. Just a few minutes after that, we left the office with prescription for a course of antibiotics in hand. The cost was about the same as a standard doctor's office visit, and a tiny fraction of what would have been charged at an emergency room. Best part: we were in and out in less than an hour! My family has used Physician One a few times and always in and out like a flash. This last experience was very important. We have an expensive holiday trip planned in Canada and you only have a 72 hour window to get a negative PCR test results back to cross the border, as it is a heavily traveled time of year the wait times on results for the FREE test is 3-5 days.....YIKES that won't work for anybody! I researched online and found out we can get one here for $100 and results are 24 hours. When I called they were not sure if it was still available as it may have ended Dec. 15. Many employees would have just said "sorry we cannot make that happen for you" However, Jilda was very patient with a stressed out Mom who was a little short with her She really cared about my situation, she calmed me down and promised she would call me back after she confirmed whether we indeed still could get the test in 24 hours. Within 10 minutes she called back explained what time I would need to be there and to come before they opened so we could be sure to get our tests on the 10am courier. After posting this review, I was contacted by someone at the clinic. She was sympathetic to my story and eager to help make it right which I appreciate. I had to be honest with her and said that I would most likely not ever be returning to the clinic, but perhaps the staff was having some sort of off day (it happens). I am not a fan of doctors and try to avoid then until all other things I try have proven ineffective. That being said, I do end up at the doctor's office every once in awhile. I am so impressed by this urgent care. My association with urgent care from past experience has been of rude staff and dirty facilities. Not true at all at Physician One in Groton. I have been here four times now and they are always so friendly, kind, and professional. Happily, the office is clean and bright! I like their sign in system where you can make an appointment ahead of time so you won't be waiting too long. I would definitely recommend to anyone in need of an urgent care. read more

I visited this urgent care in May of 2022 with a cough and no other symptoms. My experience in the clinic was acceptable - the medical staff was professional and made an effort to explain everything to me. However, I have a few issues with my visit. First, I was prescribed 5 medications, none of which helped my cough, because the doctor did not know what was wrong with me. I was charged with a bill a few weeks later and thought I was done. As it turns out, that was only the external lab bill. The clinic waited until 6 MONTHS after my visit to bill me for the office visit (November 2022). I was NEVER sent an actual bill for this, my credit card was simply charged for whatever services the clinic had billed, which were unknown to me. Beware when you fill out the online paperwork (the only option at this clinic), you check a box that says you will agree to pay by credit card automatically whenever the clinic feels like charging you before you receive any type of bill. When I emailed the company for a copy of my bill, I never got a response. read more

They were pleasant when I made an appointment but when I got there ten minutes early I had to wait 30 minutes beyond the time of the appointment and still was not seen! They said I was next but took another person that walked in. People we're waiting and some of them just left. Finally I just left also and was asked if I wanted to come back tomorrow. Could not believe what a waste of my time! They should tell you your appointment time means absolutely nothing and that even if you are taken in a room you wait there for half an hour afterwards. Really frustrating experience. I've been before for other acute issues so thought this would be fine for what I needed. My PCP retired so I didn't have someone to go to for routine allergies. I tried OTC meds for the last month but symptoms have persisted. What I got was more OTC meds, not willing to listen to what had worked in the past for me, just said "this is what I prescribe for allergies." And "I've never heard of that allergy med." for what he gave me, neither needed an RX since they are OTC. Why go to a provider who will only "prescribe" OTC, which you can get in your own and I had tried. He didn't care. I asked what I should do if these don't give relief. Follow up with my PCP in 2-5 days is what the sheet says (I'm not sure if he's asleep at the wheel in the medical field but a getting a PCP appointment as a new patient isn't that fast). Then said, "well I wrote it for a month so by the end of the month you should have found a PCP." I'd rather not feel sick for another month, so hopefully can find another walk in before then to LISTEN to me rather then just be given the only thing he prescribes for allergies. My wife and daughter have been here several times and had a great experience. I try to stay away from doctors unless I have to go. I went in yesterday and was very pleased. The staff was very helpful and fast. I checked in online ahead of time and was able to walk right in. I walked in filled out paperwork, saw the doctor and was out the door in 30 minutes. Found then open at 4:30PM was quickly greeted by the door, took the required information and was taken directly to a examination room. I went it for a sore throat bloody mucus. They said I had a viral infection and that I should just take a bunch of aspirin. Now a week later, I go to Pequot, I have bronchitis. I highly recommend this facility over Pequot Health Center for urgent care. You can pre-register for an appointment online and arrive 15 minutes before you are scheduled, to avoid sitting in the waiting room for a long time. My recent visit for a sinus infection took 25 minutes from the time I arrived to the time I left. The doctor and staff were extremely pleasant, and my prescription was ready and waiting for me at CVS when I got there. I had a terrible experience here. They charged me $130 to tell me I had a viral infection and to just keep doing what I had been doing for the last week. This took all of 5 minutes for $130. Then I wake up the next day with a sinus infection and when I called to talk to the doctor that had seen me he wasn't working. They say I can come in and see the doctor that is on staff today for another $130. What a joke. Now I have to miss more work to get a prescription that I should have received the first time. I should have went to North Stonington Medical Walk-In Center like I did two years ago. They are great there. read more

I've had to utilize Physician One a few times since they opened. Saturday 4/29/17 I woke up with an obvious UTI, so went to this Urgent Care. The wait was very long... however their system seems to give you the "worst case scenario" as I was actually treated and out of the building before the time the computer system predicted. It's also wonderful that if you click text me before my turn, (or something like that,) you can leave and get a text instead of waiting around in the waiting room! (We went to Panera Bread). When it was my turn the text alerted me. Now! It's important to talk about the courtesy of the staff, and my treatment. I was very impressed with all the staff. I saw a PA named Zach. He listened and tested and prescribed the correct treatment without ever causing me to feel like I didn't know what I was talking about. (Unlike another location of a different company.) My suggestion is to be patient, the length of time estimate is just that an estimate. I have returned several times, tonight I saw a very pleasant Doctor. Today I went to the Urgent Care and specifically asked to see the woman physician and not Dr Pap. I tested positive for the flu and she advised to have my family come and get tested as well. My visit was perfect 5 stars. I sent my family back and they saw Dr Pap who did not test any of them for the flu. They had to wait 2 hours to not be tested when the other physician had planned on doing so. I understand that the test is not always perfect but when one dr says get them tested and then the other does not do it that just makes me sooooo mad. He tried to explain but whatever. My family all received flu shots including me and I still got the flu. All of them have been sick this past week and the dr was told this. 2 Hours they can't get back!!! I have to say that this must probably the most unpleasant experience I had from a healthcare facility. First of all, the waiting time was way too long (more than an hour), even if I made an appointment. My primary concerns are the following: -I was not helped at all. I was told that basically they cannot do anything for me because there is no equipment in urgent care. The concerns that I expressed during my visit was not addressed properly. My main concern was a lump that I feel in my throat with physical symptoms including continuous burping/ belching. I asked if there is anything they can give me to help me with this and they just told me to take antacid even if I already told them I did this already and did not help. I also expressed a concerned that I could not breathe because of this but it was basically ignored. -The more concerning part of this visit was when the PA told me that my strep test was negative when I was not even swabbed or tested by any personnel. Clearly, this is an incompetent mistake made by the staff. Giving a false result to a patient is very unethical, when they read the result, they clearly did not even check the patient's name. If I was a patient who does not know anything about step test, I would have probably agreed and think that the doctor did the test when he checked my throat, misdiagnosed me and charged me for a wrong results. It is a duty of the health facility staff to take care of patients and make them feel better when they are sick and already feeling vulnerable. Visiting physicianone urgent care made me feel horrible and did not help me feel better at all. I felt disrespected. The medical assistant working with me was rude, unethical and clearly incompetent and not present in her job. She insisted to the doctor that she had already done the strep test swab, when she did not do it to me. Regardless of who did the results, this mistake reflects the whole team and staff of physicianone urgent care. -If the staff cannot perform their job properly because of too much patient influx, then maybe they shouldn't be accepting as many appointments and patients. They are doing a horrible job and I hope no patient has to experience what I experienced. Do not go to this clinic. I read more

The walk-in that I used to go to recently closed, so luckily I was able to come across this location. One of the things I loved from the get-go is that I was able to "reserve" my place in line on their website ahead of showing up, and you will receive a text when it is close to your time (I chose 20 minutes warning time). This is a fantastic option, because when you're sick, the last thing you really want to do is sit with other sick people in a waiting room. When I got my notification text and showed up, I was pleasantly surprised with how open, and clean it was. I checked-in on the ipad and was immediately helped by the assistant behind the desk, who was both efficient, and very friendly! I was called in almost immediately after checking in. I was seen by the doctor, and while the appointment was quick, I felt like he took the appropriate amount of time to hear my symptoms and do the exam. My prescriptions were sent straight to the pharmacy, and I was in and out within thirty minutes altogether. I don't enjoy having to go to the walk-in, however, when I need to in the future, this will be my go-to location! read more
