I agreed and after a couple months I went to cancel my membership and the person at the front desk tells me that I have to stay for a minimum one year under the basic membership which was not explained to me when I made the switch. I had to pay nearly $100 to pay the remaining months, and to cancel. These gyms are so sneaky and will try to squeeze every penny out of you. Also reasons some of these reviews the exact same scenario is being described by others so it's definitely not an accident they "forget" to tell you about the 1 year requirement.

Jeannette is always on time and prepared.   She is knowledgeable, funny, and thorough.  During the COVID-19 stay home order, she checked in to make sure I was working out and offered suggestions for in-home workouts.   The gym that she trains at is older, but the equipment is well-maintained and it is never crowded.  The gym owner is great. Everyone I've seen in the gym is nice, but totally focused on their workout. I prefer it to the chain gym near my house.

Back for an UPDATED REVIEW- 2 years later!!!…read more The Anytime Fitness at Farmington Hills location on 12 mile road owned & run by Matt is by far the BEST gym and best gym experience I've ever had. Even better than Lifetime Fitness. The level of support, accessibility, cleanliness, equipment, hours of operation, atmosphere and environment (I could go on and on) is extremely superb. I have lost over 100 lbs in the past year and I definitely attribute that to this gym and its facilities. I recommend to everyone I know, I've added my own family members and plan to add more when they move here, and I am so pleased with Matt and his team of trainers. Matt's professionalism yet welcoming manner really sets the tone for the whole gym. I was always looking for a gym where I didn't feel like I'm being watched, or waiting forever for machines, and a place that was NOT intimidating. This gym has all that and way more. If you want a life-changing experience, and to really achieve your fitness and lifestyle goals, you should seriously consider Anytime Fitness as your gym-home. This is my go-to place when I'm down and when I'm up! I always walk out feeling way better than when I came in.

They care about making money and do not care about their customers. This club has extremely bad business practices and the worst customer service I have ever seen in my life. When I signed this contract I was under the impression that it was a month to month contract and could cancel at any time (which they explicitly said). What they don't tell you is that you have to have a medical reason, you moved, or joining the military. I NEVER saw this contract until I was trying to cancel. I would have never signed a year contract and never in my life had a gym put me in a year contract. Also, you are paying 2 annual memberships a year. They have the second annual fee being charged the month before the end of my contract. They will not do anything to try to waive the second annual fee even if you are non renewing. If I could give this business negative stars I would.

They have everything that you need, and if you don't see it, you can ask for it (I.e. resistance loops are at the front desk). I've never had an issue with the machines being full or any equipment being used for long periods of time. I went at the end of December and it wasn't too busy. A lot of the people at the gym are in great shape, which may be an important note if that bothers you. It is definetely a "get it done" vibe - you probably won't be chatting with everyone else working out. They have TV's around the screen that displayed other people's heart rate/calories burned. I'm not sure how you get your info on there but it was a cool touch. The gym is bigger than you'd think. They have a whole section with cardio, a section with weights/machines, a cafe, a larger misc. area that had random machines and cycling bikes, a clear room with large mirrors (great for yoga) and a separate room that had CrossFit equipment. It fits the needs of everyone!

I'll definitely be back to try out the fitness classes and their open space/ CrossFit section!
